The Silk Road was first traveled by Zhang Qian which was a Chinese diplomat and he was from Xi'an. In the 2nd century Han Dynasty has sent a mission to gather more information which lead to knowing that people started trading 2000 years ago. The road was later developed. This road was so important that it is said that it helped develop many civilizations like Arabia, Egypt and China. Imagine a road so big that it has spread across three countries and is used to run trades and business deals all across India, Kazakhastan and Mediterranean.
This great road was a paradise for traders and suppliers. Trading was made really easy and transportation of goods on this road was really going smoothly for everyone. Many products were being traded and some of them are, diamonds, rubes, silk, musk and satin but, this road wasn't only used to trade goods. Many other things were traded on the Silk Road. For example, people would trade information or knowledge like ideas on new technologies or inventions. There were also other things like Religious ideas and beliefs that were being exchanged. This road also transmitted diseases, which is expected in any public place.
The Tang Dynasty was a glorious era for its people. This was around the 15th century and in that time the Silk Road's value has declined because of the invention of new ways to travel. The main reason was the discovery of sea routes and the invention of ships. It was easier, cheaper and faster to travel by sea so people started using that method more than the classic way. The new ships that were built helped a lot too and it lead to the discovery of new markets in South Asia. The other reasons that caused the decline of the Silk Road were that the desert was really hard to cross and it was becoming an issue for travelers because there was not much water supply. Another reason is that there were wars and conflicts and political issues that made it even harder to travel on land.
In conclusion, the Silk Road was a very important trading route in history but it has declined when there were new ways to trade and travel. It was a great way to exchange products, ideas, knowledge and beliefs. The main issue that caused it's decline was the development of sea routes and the creation of new ships that are cheaper, faster and made trading much easier than traveling land. All in all, the Silk Road was one of the most important trade routes in history, it built civilizations and cultures.
