Our day started with a tour around the blue city of Chefchaouen. It was cool (temperature-wise) and much less crowded than last night.
The city is incredibly beautiful.
But I did get in a good workout climbing up and down the stairs and hills. My knees may never be the same.
Boo spent most of the tour photographing the many cats and kittens (and a few dogs) that are all over the city. I suspect that 90% of her camera roll is photos of animals.
After a rooftop lunch, we took off through olive groves and barren hills to Morocco’s second largest city, Fes, which we’ll explore in depth tomorrow.
The day ended with a walk through the Medina to our restaurant for dinner. From the outside, you would never know what was in the building we entered. It was a FABULOUS riad that had been converted into a restaurant.
We dined on 10 different types of Moroccan salads and chicken pastilla which is a chicken pie made from phyllo dough and seasoned with almonds, cinnamon and sugar. Sounds weird. Tastes delicious.
Tomorrow, we have a long day in Fes.
