Getting started,
- Logstash and Mongodb are already installed.
- Start Logstash and Mongodb services using the commands,
$ sudo systemctl enable logstash.service
$ sudo systemctl start logstash.service
$ sudo systemctl unmask mongodb.service
$ sudo systemctl start mongodb.service
- Check the status of Logstash and Mongodb service using the commands,
$ sudo systemctl status logstash.service
$ sudo systemctl status mongodb.service
- Use main.conf file in the path /etc/logstash/conf.d to configure the Logstash pipeline.
- Configure the Logstash pipeline to create a grok filter to parse the data given in the sample.txt file.
- Match the message against cust_id, gender, order_id, category, bill_amt, quantity, location, timestamp respectively.
- Use codec plugin in output stage to change the data representation to json format.
- Parse the filtered output to Mongodb with
db name: output_db
collection: logstash_challenge
id: logstash
- Export your logstash_challenge collection's data to a json file named output.json in the path ~/Desktop/Project/logstash_challenge
Note:
- "sample.txt" file is present in the path ~/Desktop/Project/kickoffs-logstash-challenge
- Use sudo /usr/share/logstash/bin/logstash -f /etc/logstash/conf.d/main.conf command to run the Logstash pipeline.
- Use data1 directory present in the path /usr/share/logstash for path.data configuration.
- Please do follow the exact naming conventions as given.
