5 Video Games You Have to Play this Xmas

The holiday season has come upon us one more time! And you know what that means: it’s gaming time! I have prepared a list with some of my favorite games to play during the Xmas holiday!
I’ve kept in mind that Christmas gift shopping can take a toll on your wallet, so I’ve only picked games with huge discounts! You can buy all 5 games listed below for only $57! Or you can pick and choose just your favorites!
I referenced the prices to steam, but if you’re not gaming on PC, you can get all of these games on consoles as well (Xbox and PlayStation, and some even on Nintendo Switch)!
Alright, I’ve been rambling enough! Let’s get into it! So, without any further ado, here are the 5 video games you HAVE to play this Xmas:
●1. SnowRunner: ○Steam Price: $16.5 (was $30 before sale)

If you’re the type of gamer who likes to relax and listen to music or maybe a podcast while gaming, then SnowRunner is the game for you! But don’t worry, if that’s not your type, then you can also play it with friends and constantly yell at each other over who has to go back and tow that one noob who always gets stuck in the mud!
Experience the classic Spintires MudRunner experience, but a whole lot better and in the snow! This sequel has significantly improved on the previous game’s graphics, handling and vehicle diversity. This makes it feel like a breath of fresh air for old fans of the series and a good spot to jump in for newcomers.
If the base game is not enough for you (because you’ll likely be putting tons of hours into it), then don’t worry! There are 26 different expansion packs, some of which are free! And if you’ve experienced them all and still need some more SnowRunner in your life, the game also has great mod support. So go ahead: install tons of mods and have fun like never before!
All in all, Spintires is one of my favorite series, and I really think the developers outdid themselves with the most recent game, SnowRunner. It’s by far one of the best Vehicle Simulator/Adventure games on Steam right now!
●2. The Long Dark: ○Steam Price: $20 (was $30 before sale)

Ok, ok! I know we’re starting off with the not-so-cheap games. But I promise all the other ones on the list will be under $10!
As you can see, The Long Dark, just like SnowRunner before, has extremely good user and critic reviews! The term “walking sim” just doesn’t do this game justice! It’s so much more than that!
First of all, you’ve got the WINTERMUTE Story Mode, which I won’t spoil here (I guess you’ll just have to play the game). All I’m gonna say is: you’re not ready for everything this beautiful story throws at you!
Then, there’s Survival Mode. If you’ve already played through the story, but still want to experience the coldness and emptiness of The Long Dark’s world, then Survival Mode is your next move!
Here’s a tip: if you’re not a story-oriented type of gamer and you only want to test your skill in Survival Mode, then you can buy it separately for only $14. That saves you an extra $6!
●3. Sleeping Dogs (Definitive Edition): ○Steam Price: $3 (was $20 before sale)
○All Time Reviews: Very Positive
○Recent Reviews: Overwhelmingly Positive
Sleeping Dogs (Definitive Edition) is the cheaper game on this list, coming in at only $2.99! That’s an 85% discount from its normal price, so it’s definitely worth buying this Christmas season!
Another thing you might have already noticed is its “Overwhelmingly Positive” recent reviews. Not a lot of games can boast with such community support! That just goes to show this game’s a true cult classic!
Let me be straight with you: this is one of my personal favorites, so there’s a lot of bias on my part of this game making the list. But, hey, it’s my list, so here we are!
You’ll definitely enjoy Sleeping Dogs’ story, as well as its sprawling open world, full of activities, missions and memorable characters! Just be careful at the wedding mission, because that’s where I died the most! You’ll see what I’m talking about when you get there!
The Definitive Edition also offers 2 DLCs. I won’t tell you anything about them, as I want you to go into them with no expectations. Just know that it’s a quirky, unique game, that you’ll definitely remember for a long time after playing it.
●4. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate: ○Steam Price: $10 (was $40 before sale)

Of course I can’t get through a gaming list without talking about an Assassin’s Creed game! Well, that’s my obsession, so what can I do about it? No, seriously: this is a call for help.
Getting over my intrusive thoughts winning while writing this, AC Syndicate might not be the newest, biggest, cheapest or even best game in the series, but it is a perfect fit for a Xmas gameplay session!
Even though it came out waaaay back in 2015, it’s got better graphics than a ton of games released years after it. For real, Ubisoft really went all in on this game. So glad they finally decided to actually deliver a complete experience from day 1 after the disastrous launch of AC Unity! But we’ll talk about that another time!
As far as why I picked Syndicate for this list, I’m only going to explain it in one word: TRAIN!
Yeah, I’m one of those people who lost their mind when they heard about the mobile base coming to AC! Looking back, Syndicate was a revolutionary game for the franchise: the ability to switch between Jacob and Evie Frye throughout the story, the gang wars, and the horse carriages; they were all a big leap forward for Assassin’s Creed and for gaming in general.
I could honestly write 10 articles on each AC game, so please spare me all that writing and go play Syndicate this Xmas! Now let’s move on before I start playing it for the fifth time!
●5. Bioshock Infinite: ○Steam Price: $7.5 (was $30 before sale)

You caught me! I purposely put this one last, because I know that if you managed to read through my Assassin’s Creed ramblings, you probably won’t be screaming at me on all social media platforms about how Bioshock Infinite ruined the whole series and all that…
Yes, the first Bioshock has a special place in my heart. Yes, no game can live up to the “Would You Kindly?” reveal moment! I know, I know, but hear me out!
Bioshock Infinite tried doing something different. Not better, but different. That being said, from a technical perspective, it’s 100% better: runs smoother and has breathtaking graphics, without requiring you to have a computer from NASA in order to run it at 60 fps.
But I didn’t choose it just because it looks good. There are plenty of games out there that look better. I chose it because of 2 things: gameplay and story.
If you liked the first 2 games’ combat systems, I can guarantee you’ll like this one even better! Apart from some repetitive enemies, there is nothing to hold against the game in this department.
Now, about the story: it literally sent shivers down my spine the first time I played through it. I also spent somewhere between 2 hours and 37 days trying to understand the ending!
I’m sure you’ll love it if you give it a chance! And at $7.5, this Xmas is the best time to play Bioshock Infinite! You probably won’t find it on such a sale anytime soon!
