The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
If you have carpet that is high or low-pile, there's a robot vacuum for you. These intelligent appliances can navigate your home, suck up debris and even clean under furniture.
They come with advanced features like mapping that help you navigate around your home and keep track of where furniture is. They can also increase the suction power to tackle dirtier surfaces.
iRobot Roomba 694"
The Roomba from iRobot is a basic robot vacuum that is effective on both floors that are unfinished and floor carpets with a low pile. It has a good suction however, it struggles with larger debris such as grains of rice or sand. It is capable of cleaning pet hair, but isn't as strong against knots as premium Roomba models such as the j7 and I6.
The Roomba is easy to operate. It has three buttons on its top cover. "Clean," which triggers a cleaning process and 'Dock' that places it in its charging station, and "Spot," which initiates an individualized cleaning. You can control it using a smartphone application that allows you schedule cycles, stop/start the cycle and change settings. You can also connect the device to smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant to control it through voice.
This vacuum is slower than other models, but it is still able to get into the most crevices and corners. It has a huge dust bin which is ideal to reduce the frequency at which you need to empty it. It's compatible with virtual barriers and digital mapping which let you restrict it to certain areas or stop cleaning altogether in order to prevent it from getting stuck on something.
It's not the most effective for its price, but it's better than most other options. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning performance than the Roomba 694, and it's able to clean low-pile and bare carpets. It also has a longer-lasting battery and a better route. It is also more comfortable to use and has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is less expensive to own over its lifetime and charges more quickly than the 694.
It's also worth taking a look at other, more premium models in the iRobot line, like the 981 or the v7. They're more expensive but they are significantly better than the 694 in terms of cleaning efficiency on both bare and low-pile floors, use a more efficient cleaning route and come with a larger dirt compartment, are quicker to charge, move more easily, and are more easy to connect with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does a great job on low-pile carpet and hard flooring. Its combo brush reaches into edges and corners, and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt that is embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ's compact footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are nice touches. If you wish to alter the floor level or set no-go areas, you'll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ app offers some advanced mapping and automated features, however it lacks no-go zones. These are available only on iRobot robots. Its intelligent-pathing navigation system provides greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it does have a tendency to get caught up in rug tassels. Additionally, its iHome speaker lets you control the robot using voice commands.
During our tests in our tests, the IQ was adept at handling pet hair well, clearing huge amounts of debris from floors with no flooring and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective on shag carpets, where it had a hard time reaching dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It was able to navigate the legs of a chair, tiny spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved however it soon recovered speed and performed more thoroughly than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge and is capable of maneuvering itself around obstacles. It has a mopping tool that can remove sticky debris. On the other side the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance and creates virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can even restart the cleaning process from where it left off in case it runs out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice, which can be an advantage for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum around, but it does offer great cleaning power for the price of. This robot vacuum is made for those who are budget conscious and do not require a complicated mapping system, or an app to control it. The robot is able to last for more than an hour. It comes with a remote control, cleaning tool and AC power adapter.
The 11S is slim and sleek with an upper deck of tempered glass that covers plastic and is made to look like brushed aluminum. It's a refreshing departure from the utilitarian and industrial designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
The eufy11S performed well in our tests of removing larger debris and fine dust from hard floors. However, it struggled to provide medium and high pile carpets a thorough clean. The device is also prone to smack into furniture and people that are in its path, but it's able to detect these obstacles using sensors. It stops and emits a loud sound when it comes across an obstruction. It is then possible to manually guide the device around the obstacle and return it to working.
Another excellent feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the type of floor and the level of mess. The remote control makes it simple to direct the 11S to your desired location.
If you don't have much furniture in the room you want to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that limits the time spent on each surface to just 20 minutes. This will extend battery life. This option allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern cleaning edges and corners.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range robot vacuum that can be a great performer on carpet. Its performance on floors that are not bare is also outstanding. the advantage can remove small particles like rice effortlessly and doesn't lose suction performance even as its dirt bin fills. Its allergy-friendly design and air-sealed body captures allergens to keep your family healthy. It uses an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying bin, so you don't have to buy additional filters or a separate bag for your vacuum.
It's not as powerful as the more expensive models, but it's still great for tackling dirt and deep cleaning. The two cameras on the front of the unit provide a live image feed on your smartphone, and it comes with one of the top obstacle avoidance systems we've seen. It also comes with a huge dustbin, a long runtime and a speedy, bump-free clean-up.
The Complete C1 is unlike most robots in that it is able to switch between a standard head and a turbo to suit different types of flooring. The turbo head is ideal for carpeting that is high-pile and low-pile, while the standard powerhead works well on floors that are unfinished and light carpets. It also comes with an automatic height adjustment system that enables it to adapt to various types of flooring without manual adjustments.
This model is included with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on carpets and hard floors. medium pile. The powerhead is also easy to maneuver and can get into difficult spots. It has five different surface adjustments as well as a brushroll-off switch to prevent hairs getting caught in knots.
The Classic C1 has a self cleaning brush roll and it has a UtraClean Mode that will clean the same area three times, and a self emptying dustbin that can be emptied by pressing a button. Its sound level is a little higher than that of other models however its powerful 1,200-watt motor and robust construction make it worth the extra expense.
If you're willing more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round canister robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It performs better on all kinds of floors and is more robustly built, and comes with an HEPA filter.
