RESEARCH TITLE: “Sanitary Measurements of Approved Local Government Food Establishments at Cogon Night Market”
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY?:
--this study aims to identify how well the food being sold at the Cogon Market follows with sufficient safety and sanitary regulations, as well as how properly sanitized the food establishments are.
----The purpose of this study is to determine how thoroughly sanitized food establishments at the Cogon Market are, as well as if the food being sold adheres (Sumusunod) to adequate (sapat) safety and sanitary practices.
----In Food Businesses , it is very important for the consumers to know if the food that they are consuming is safe for their health. so the purpose of this research is to give knowledge to both vendors and Consumers about the proper sanitation when it comes to food businesses. this study will also measure the knowledge of the food vendors about sanitation of their establishment and their personal hygiene and if they are following the rules and regulations given by DOH.

WHAT IS YOUR RESEARCH ALL ABOUT?
-This research is all about the sanitary measurements of the approved local government food establishment at Cogon Night Market. this research will study the Vendor's Sanitary Practices and Behavior when it comes to sanitazing and keeping their establishment clean and Hazard/disease free.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH released a standard about the RULES AND REGULATIONS known as the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of REPUBLIC ACT 10611, “An Act to Strengthen the Food Safety Regulatory System in The Country to Protect Consumer Health and Facilitate Market Access of Local Foods and Food Products, And For Other Purposes” otherwise known as the “FOOD SAFETY ACT OF 2013”. The Food Safety Act of 2013 shall be the framework for implementing the farm to fork Food Safety Regulatory System.

“Food Safety Act of 2013” was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino to strengthen the country’s food regulatory structure. It primarily adheres to the declaration of the Philippine constitution to safeguard and promote the right of the people to health and keep them
from risk of trade mismanagement as well as hazardous and unsafe products (Dollentas and Habla, 2021)

WHAT IS YOUR THEORETHICAL FRAMEWORK?:
we used the THEORY OF PLANNED BEHAVIOR (TPB) which illustrates that the behavior of the food handlers is directed by their intention to perform behavior and perceived behavioral control. this theory helps our study to be more knowledgable when it comes to Food hadlers behavior on how they perform and if they are following the proper sanitation and cleaning procedures.

No person shall be employed in any food establishment without a health certificate issued by the city/municipal health officer. This certificate
shall be issued only after the required physical and medical examinations and immunizations. Briefings shall be provided by the local health office prior to the issuance of the health certificate to the recipient, this applies to washing hands, arms, and fingernails before working.

WHY DID YOU CONDUCT THIS STUDY?:
--the purpose of this study to know the sanitary measurements of the Food vendors in cogon night market if they are aware about the proper sanitation and the personal hygiene and if they are following the Rules and regulations given by the DOH.

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS STUDY?: this study will help and give knowledge to the food vendors and also the the consumers about the importance of proper sanitation because it is very important to know and practice safe food- handling behaviors to help reduce the risk of getting sick from contaminated food and it will lower the risk of food-related diseases world-wide.

COSTUMERS
--This study can help customers gain knowledge about proper sanitation in food establishments. With proper sanitation practices, customers can trust that the food they purchase is safe and free from harmful substances, making it a healthier option.

FOOD VENDORS
--This study can help food vendors gain knowledge about proper sanitation and how to maintain a clean environment. And also, this research can help the food vendors attract more customers by Word-of-mouth recommendations it can significantly impact a vendor's reputation and contribute to its long-term success.

GOVERNMENT
--The research can prove beneficial for the government as it leads to increased revenue through food vendors adopting proper food precautions, which in turn helps prevent foodborne illnesses. As a result, people are more likely to buy products from these vendors, contributing to higher sales and economic growth.

RESEARCHERS
--The researchers can benefit from this study by gaining knowledge and collecting data that they need.

WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY?:
-- certain disease-causing bacteria, viruses or parasites contaminate food that causes food related diseases. Foods can become harmful to human health or even fatal when combined with bacteria, mold, viruses, parasites, and chemical toxins. there has been estimated 1.8 million death each year caused by diarrheal diseases which attributed to contaminated food and water. The Department of Health or DOH released a standard about the Rules and Regulations known as "Food safety act of 2013" of Republic act 10611. signed into law by President Benigno Aquino to strengthen the country’s food regulatory structure. It primarily adheres to the declaration of the Philippine constitution to safeguard and promote the right of the people to health and keep them from risk of trade mismanagement as well as hazardous and unsafe products.

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE- Implemented Sanitary and Hygiene measurements of the Department of Health
DEPENDENT VARIABLE- Personal hygiene of food vendors, proper sanitation of food establishments of food vendors

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
1. What are the sanitary practices implemented by the Department of Health in terms
of:
1.1. Sanitation (cleanliness of the establishment/ used equipments and products
1.2. Hygiene (Vendor's personal hygiene)
1.3. Legal Compliance (ensures that the Establishment or the Food handlers follows the rules and regulations)
2. How inclined are the sanitary practices followed by the street vendors
implemented by the Department of Health in terms of:
2.1. Sanitation
2.2. Hygiene
3. How can the government intervene to ensure that the sanitary practices suggested
by the Department of Health are being thoroughly implemented by street vendors?

WHAT IS THE SCOPE?
--This study aims to cover the sanitary measures of government-approved local food establishments in Cogon Night Market, Lt. Guillermo St., Cagayan de Oro city. It seeks to describe the qualities of the services rendered by the employees, who practice safe personal hygiene while being aware of how to store food, maintain the food in proper condition, and provide other crucial elements of the establishment’s services.

WHAT IS THE DELIMITATION?
-The conducted study is only limited to the issuance implemented by the Department of Health

RESEARCH DESIGN
The researchers have chosen to employ a DESCRIPTIV research design, which involves the utilization of survey questionnaires. This particular design was deemed to be highly suitable for the purpose of the research as it allows for the gathering of detailed information from the food vendors.

RESEARCH ENVIRONMENT
This study aimed to cover the Sanitary Measurements of government approved local food establishments in Cogon Night Market, Lt. Guillermo St., Cagayan de Oro City.

RESEARCH RESPONDANTS
The researchers gathered data through a survey questionnaire administered only to twenty (20) selected food establishments/vendors at Cogon Night Market, Lt. Guillermo St., Cagayan de Oro City. The survey focused on the personal hygiene of food establishments and equipment hygiene implemented by the Department of Health inorder to ensure that proper hygiene and sanitation are being thoroughly implemented.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT
By opting for a survey questionnaire format, the researchers have taken into consideration the convenience of the food vendors, ensuring that the questions can be easily answered with a simple 'yes' or 'no'. This choice of data collection enables efficient data analysis in the future. There are three (3) categories of questions namely: HYGIENE, SANITATION AND LEGAL COMPLIANCE. With 7 questions under each category

DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURE
The researchers prepared a comprehensive survey questionnaire for the respondents to assess the sanitary hygiene measurements and practices of the local street food vendors in Cogon Night Market. These questionnaires were distributed in person to make an efficient data
collection process. Before conducting the survey, the researchers introduced themselves to the respondents to build connection and trust. They also guided the respondents on how to answer the questionnaire completely, ensuring that the respondents truly understand the purpose of the study. During the data collectionphase, the researchers were open for clarifications to make sure an accurate and meaningful response. All the data collected will be treated with full confidentiality to keep the respondents' privacy.

DATA ANALYSIS
the respondents' results will be determined using descriptive analysis. By demonstrating, or helpfully summarizing the data points, the patterns may develop the conditions of the data. The given results from the respondents were collected after obtaining the researcher's transcript. The primary thoughts that respondents shared in response to each question might be generalized and determined by the researchers since the survey responses are the variables that the researchers intend to measure in the study.
