The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
There's a robot to suit any carpet type, whether it's high-pile or low-pile. These machines are intelligent and can automatically navigate through your home, pick up dirt and clean under furniture.
Many of them have advanced features, such as mapping, which helps them navigate your home and recall furniture positioning. They can also boost the suction power in order to take on dirtier surfaces.
iRobot Roomba 694
The iRobot Roomba is a budget-friendly robot vacuum that works well on both floors that are unfinished and low-pile floor carpet. It has a good suction and is able to clean up most debris, though it struggles with larger debris like sand or rice. It does a good job cleaning pet hair, but isn't as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models such as the j7 and I6.
The Roomba 694 is simple to use. It has three buttons on its cover: 'Clean' launches an entire cleaning cycle and 'Dock' allows it to be put back in its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' initiates the targeted cleaning. You can control it via an app on your smartphone that lets you schedule cycles, stop/start them, and alter settings. You can also pair it with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.
This vacuum is a bit slower than others, but it's still able to reach most corners and crevices. It comes with a large dust bin that is ideal for reducing the frequency with the frequency you have to empty it. It is compatible with virtual barriers and digital mapping that let you restrict it to certain areas or stop cleaning altogether when you want to stop it from getting stuck on something.
Although it's not the most efficient model in its price range but it's far superior to other alternatives. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning capability than the Roomba 694 and it is able to clean both carpets with a low pile and bare. It also follows the most efficient cleaning method and has a longer battery life. It is also more robust, has fewer components that require regular maintenance, and costs less over its lifetime, and charges faster than 694.
It is also worth considering other models from the iRobot range, including the v7 or the 981. The 981 and v7 are more expensive but provide significant improvements in cleaning performance for both bare and low pile floors. They also have a larger dirt compartment they charge faster, can move more easily, and are easier to pair up with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robot does a decent job on hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile. The combination brush is able to reach the edges and corners, and then automatically increases suction as soon as it spots carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning dirt on mid-pile carpet. The IQ's compact dock footprint and self-emptying feature are great features. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map or set no-go zones, you'll have to manually reset it to do this, which can be a bit of an inconvenience.
More about the author has advanced mapping and automation capabilities but it's missing no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. Its smart-pathing system permits for better maneuverability and the high-pile feature of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient however it can be caught on rug tassels.
During our tests, we observed that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to remove lots of debris on floors that were not bare and a decent amount of medium-pile rug. It was less effective with shag carpets. It had a hard time reaching dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It did a good job of navigating the legs of chairs, tight spaces, and the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. We did notice it was a little slower on bare floors but it quickly recovered and performed more thoroughly than the other robots we tried.
The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a larger dustbin, a longer battery life, and is better in navigating around obstacles. It also comes with mopping attachments that are able to handle sticky debris. On the other hand, the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance, incurs lower recurring costs and can even create virtual no-go zones using its companion app. It can continue cleaning from the point it started, even if its battery runs out before it has finished. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice, which can be an enormous benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The RoboVac 11S from Eufy isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum on the market but it does provide excellent cleaning power at an affordable price. It's a budget-friendly option for buyers who don't need a complicated mapping system or app to control the device. This robot can run for more than an hour and comes with a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and elegant and has a tempered glass upper deck that resembles brushed aluminum. It's a nice aesthetic departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.
In our tests, the eufy 11S was extremely effective at removing larger particles and fine dust on hard floors. However, it was unable to provide medium and high pile carpeting an effective deep clean. The device also has a tendency to hit furniture and people that are in its path however, it's able detect these obstacles using sensors. When it comes across them, it stops and lets out an alarm so that you can manually guide it around the obstacle and then get it back to work.
The BoostIQ mode is another fantastic feature of the eufy11S. It allows you to set up the robot to automatically adjust the suction strength based upon the floor type and the level of the mess. It's also simple to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you want it to go.
If you don't have many furniture in the area you want to vacuum Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy will spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
You can also choose Edge Cleaning, which reduces the amount of time in each location to 20 minutes for optimal battery life. If you select this option, the eufy will move in a spiral fashion to clean edges and corners to ensure a clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a great mid-range vacuum cleaner that performs well on carpet. Its performance is also excellent on bare floors. It is able to remove small particles such as rice effortlessly and doesn't lose suction performance even as its dirt bin fills. Its air-sealed and allergy-friendly design traps allergens and keep your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin so you don't need any additional filters or vacuum bags.
It's not as powerful as the more expensive models, but it's great for tackling staining and deep cleaning. Its two front cameras deliver live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it has one of the top obstacles-avoiding systems we've seen. It also has a big dustbin, long runtime and a speedy and smooth clean-up.
In contrast to other robots, unlike other robots, the Complete C1 can switch between a standard powerhead and a turbo head to accommodate different flooring types. The turbo head works best with high-pile or low-pile carpeting, while the standard powerhead is suitable for bare floors and light rug. It also features an automatic height adjustment system that allows it to adapt to various kinds of flooring without manual adjustments.
This model comes with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on both hard floors and carpets of medium pile. The motor can also be easily maneuvered and reach difficult spots. It comes with five levels of surface adjustment and a brushroll off switch to avoid hairs getting caught in tangles.
The Classic C1 also has a self-cleaning brush roll, an UtraClean mode that goes across the same area three times to give the best cleaning possible and a self-emptying trash bin that can be empty at the touch of one button. Its sound level is a little higher than other models however, its powerful 1,200-watt motor as well as robust construction make it worth the extra expense.
If you're willing more, the Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round canister robot vacuum that performs better on carpet than the Classic C1. It performs better on all floor types and is more solidly constructed and comes with an HEPA filter.
