9 Things Your Parents Taught You About Shark I Robot Vacuum
The Shark i Robot Vacuum

The shark i robot vacuum is one of the top mid-priced robot vacuums. It does a great job of cleaning and has some cool features.

Learn Even more is able to clean floors in a thorough manner and employs a row-by-row. It also works well on rugs and maneuver over rug tassels.

Features

Shark i is a robot vacuum cleaner with a number notable features. This includes its intelligent navigation system and self-emptying dock. Its IQ navigation system makes use of a matrix grid for cleaning room-by-room. This ensures that no corner of your home is left unclean. It also emptys the trash bin into the baseless bagless after each cleaning.

The i can be controlled by both the SharkClean app and Amazon Alexa, so you can control it with your voice, without the need for an extra remote. There is also an upper-right corner of the vacuum to control it manually. it.

The app allows you to create a vacuum profile, name it, schedule cleans and check the history of cleaning. You can define virtual boundaries to keep the i from getting into areas where it might get stuck or fall over something that is fragile. You can also select different power modes, so you can reduce energy consumption on tasks that are difficult.

Other notable features include its NeverStuck technology as well as the grippy wheels that help it get over obstacles such as stairs or floor transitions. It is able to detect and avoid obstacles such as electrical cords. This is beneficial for pet owners with small shed dogs or cats.

The i has three power settings including an energy-saving Eco Mode as well as a default Normal mode, and a high-power maximum mode. You can also make customized cleaning schedules for specific floors or rooms, which is ideal if you live in a large home that requires frequent cleanings.

The i is able to be programmed to return to its dock and empty its trash bin however, you must keep an eye on the battery's life as it often overestimates the amount of runtime left. It can also be confused and restart when you tell it to 'Clean the Home' which is why you need to be careful when you start or end it.

Design

The Shark i robot is sleekly designed and has a high-end appearance. Its main drive wheels are covered with rubber treads, giving the robot excellent maneuverability. It has a small footprint and can fit under most furniture. It is able to climb up high-pile carpets and reach under couches despite its size.

The robot is equipped with a variety of sensors that include the boundary and cliff sensors that permit it to map your house. It also includes a vision module that can detect and avoid obstacles. The app lets you alter the robot's settings, plan cleaning sessions and view its history of cleaning. The app is simple to use, however it isn't able to create virtual no-go zones.

The Shark i robot can be an ideal choice for unfinished floors. However, it's not able to take in large debris such as hair from pets. It can also get stuck on surfaces that are cluttered. The dirt compartment may get full which makes it difficult to empty after cleaning. The vacuum does not have a self-emptying dock. You will have empty the dust bin manually once it is full.

The vacuum's battery life is short and often will run out before it is able to return to its original location. It's also a little loud, and the app doesn't permit you to set specific areas to be cleaned or skip. It's best used together with a robot vacuum, and not as a stand-alone machine. The benefits of delegating your vacuuming tasks to robots is evident. The iRobot Roomba has superior mapping and navigation abilities and a dock that automatically empties itself. It's also a little cheaper than the Shark i robotic vacuum.

Cleaning Performance

The Shark IQ vacuums well however it isn't easy to get used the robotic noise. It doesn't get confused and repeat steps as do older Shark robots, such as the ION85 or RV871. The iQ does a fantastic job of mapping your home's layout by creating an app-generated map which allows you to label rooms so that it knows where to go, thereby making it more efficient than the ION 85 in terms of not having to go over the same areas over and over again.

However, it struggles with bare floors and rugs. It is able to pick up tiny particles however pet hair and bulkier objects like rice and cereals can engulf it. Additionally the dirt compartment gets filled quickly and may begin to lose suction power as it gets full, making this robot not ideal for use on bare flooring or carpets with high pile. It is also prone to block easily when it encounters tangled or tipped furniture and remaining items such as rug tassels and electrical cords.

Fortunately, it's easy to clear these problems by emptying the bin at its base. It also automatically emptys itself into the bin once it's full. This will save you the effort of emptying the trash bin after every run. The extra-large bin needs to be empty every 30 days, lowering costs of ownership over the long run.

The SharkClean App lets you set up different cleaning modes as well as check the battery's life, create schedules, look up your cleaning history, and create virtual boundaries to stop it from entering areas where it might be entangled or knock fragile objects over. The iQ can also be operated manually by its remote control, which comes with directional arrows for guiding it around your home.

Battery Life

This robot vacuum has excellent battery life even in its high-suction mode, 'Max. It can run for up to an hour in this mode and that's more than enough time for most cleaning sessions. It also has an energy-efficient "Eco" mode that extends the maximum runtime of the robot to more than 160 minutes. This is a great feature to have if you often move between rooms or worry about running out of battery power when using the robot.

This vacuum cleaner also has a number of impressive automation features. The companion app lets you check the remaining battery life, to send the vacuum to a certain area, stop or restart cleaning, and switch between power modes. It can also be controlled with voice commands, if own an Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa device compatible with it. It is equipped with physical boundary markers to keep the robot away from certain areas.

While it has good maneuverability, it isn't the most maneuverable model. Shark model struggles to suck up large pieces of debris, particularly when its dirt compartment is stuffed. It's also prone to get stuck on tassels for the rug or electrical cords, and it can get stuck between the legs of chairs.

Overall overall, the Shark IQ robot vacuum is an excellent choice for those who are seeking a basic robot that is easy to use and is capable of mapping. It's not as good as the Roborock S7 in most cases. The latter feels sturdier and more robust, and has lower maintenance requirements, has lower costs for recurring expenses, recharges faster, offers longer battery life, and performs better on carpets and floors with no carpets, and moves through obstacles with ease.
