A Trip Back In Time: How People Talked About Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet 20 Years Ago
The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet

No matter if you have a carpet with a high or low pile, there's a robot vacuum for you. These smart devices are able to navigate your home on their own clean up debris and clean under furniture.

Many of them have advanced features, such as mapping, which helps them navigate your home and remember furniture positioning. They also can increase suction power to clean up surfaces that are dirtier.

iRobot Roomba 694

The iRobot Roomba 694 is a basic robot vacuum that works well on carpets with a low pile or bare floor. It has a good suction, but struggles with larger debris such as sand or grains of rice. It is effective in cleaning pet hair but is not as resistant to tangling as premium Roomba models such as the j7 and I6.

The Roomba 694 is simple to use. It has three buttons on its top cover. "Clean," which triggers a cleaning process, 'Dock,' which puts it in its charging station, and the 'Spot' button, which triggers a targeted cleaning. It can be controlled with a smartphone app which lets you schedule or stop/start cycles, and also adjust settings. It can also be paired with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.

This vacuum cleaner is slower than some others, but can still be able to reach the majority of corners and crevices. It has a large dustbin, which is great to reduce the frequency at the frequency you have to empty it. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers, which lets you program the robot to stay out of certain areas, or even stop cleaning altogether to avoid it from getting stuck.

It's not the top in its price, however it's better than the majority of other options. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning performance than the Roomba 694 and it's able to clean carpets with a low pile and bare. It also has a longer-lasting battery and a more efficient path. It is also more comfortable to use and has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is less expensive to maintain over its life and charges more quickly than the 694.

It is also worth considering other models from the iRobot range, like the v7 or 981. They're more expensive but they offer significant improvements over the 694 in terms of cleaning efficiency on both low- and bare floors, use a more efficient cleaning route and have a larger dirt compartment, are quicker to charge, maneuver themselves more easily, and are much easier to connect to smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This self-emptying robot that is budget-friendly does a good job on hard floors as well as carpets with low pile. Its combination brush reaches the edges and corners, and then automatically boosts suction once it detects carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt that is embedded in carpets that are mid-pile. The IQ has a small footprint and a self-emptying function. If you wish to alter the floor's levels or define areas that are not allowed to be used, you'll need to manually reset the map.

The IQ's application has advanced mapping and automation capabilities however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing technology allows for superior maneuverability, and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is effective however it can be caught in the tassels of the rug.

In our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to eliminate a large amount of debris on floors that were unfinished and a good amount of rug with a medium pile. It was less effective on shag carpets where it struggled to reach dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It did a good job of maneuvering the legs of chairs and tight spaces as well as the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on bare floors, but it regained speed and performed better than the other robots we tried.

The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a bigger dustbin and a longer battery lifespan, and is better at navigating around obstacles. It also comes with a mopping attachment that can deal with sticky mess. On the other hand the iRobot is more durable and has fewer components that require maintenance or replacement and has lower recurring costs and creates virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can continue cleaning from where it left off, even if its battery runs out before it finishes. The iRobot can be controlled by voice commands, which is a huge plus for many users.

Eufy 11S

The RoboVac 11S by eufy isn't exactly the most feature-rich robot vacuum around however it offers great cleaning power for the price of. This robot vacuum is designed for consumers with a tight budget who don't need a complex mapping system, or even an app to control it. The robot is capable of running for more than an hour and comes with an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.

The 11S is slim, elegant and has a tempered glass upper deck that resembles the brushed appearance of aluminum. It's a nice stylistic different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.

In our tests, the eufy11S was very effective in removing large particles and fine dust on hard floors. It struggled to deep clean medium and high-pile carpets. It is also prone to smack into furniture and people in its path however, it is able to detect those obstacles using sensors. When it comes across them, it halts and emits a loud beep so you can manually guide it around the obstacle and then get it back to work.

The BoostIQ mode is a great feature of the eufy11S. It lets you configure the robot to automatically adjust the suction strength based upon the floor type and the level of mess. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S where you'd like it to go.

Single Room Mode is a great option for those with small furniture in the space you'd like to vacuum. The eufy can spend 30 minutes focusing on cleaning the space it's assigned.

Edge Cleaning is another option that reduces the time spent on each surface to 20 minutes. This will maximize the battery's life. With this option the eufy can move in a spiral pattern to clean edges and corners for a thorough clean.

Miele Complete C1

The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a great mid-range vacuum cleaner that is a winner on carpet. Its performance is also exceptional on floors that are not bare. It can remove rice and other fine particles effortlessly. The suction power doesn't drop when the dirt bin is full. Its air-sealed, allergy-friendly design capture allergens, keeping your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin, so you don't need additional filters or vacuum bags.

It's not as powerful as pricier models, but it's still great for tackling dirt and deep cleaning. Its two front cameras deliver live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it comes with one of the best obstacle avoidance systems we've seen. It also has a large dustbin, a long runtime and a speedy, bump-free clean-up.

In contrast to other robots, unlike other robots, the Complete C1 can switch between a standard powerhead and a turbo head to accommodate different types of floors. The turbo head is best on low-pile or high-pile carpeting, while the standard powerhead is suitable for bare floors and light rug. vacuum and mop combo has an automatic height adjustment system, which lets it easily adapt to various kinds of flooring, without manual adjustments.

This model comes with a SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead that can handle hard floors as well as carpeting with a medium pile. The powerhead is also easy to move and can get into difficult spots. It comes with five different surface adjustments and a brushroll-off switch to prevent tangled hairs.

The Classic C1 has a self cleaning brush roll and the UtraClean Mode that cleans the same area up to three times and a self emptying dustbin that can be emptied with a single button press. Its noise level is a little higher than that of other models, but its powerful 1,200-watt motor as well as robust construction make it worth the extra cost.

If you're willing to spend some extra money, the Miele Complete C3 canister robot vacuum is a great all-around robot vacuum. It performs better on carpets than the Classic C1. It is better suited for all types of floors and is more robustly built and comes with an HEPA filter.
