What Is The Heck What Exactly Is Best Self-Emptying Vacuum?
Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops

The Eufy 11S is one of the most affordable self-emptying robot vacuums on the market. It ably sucked up dry oatmeal from hard floors and low-pile carpeting in our tests. Its dust bin is simple to empty and openit's much simpler than some other models in its price range.

It recharges at the base and then cleans when it's ready. Its obstacle-avoidance technology is caught in cords and socks and it can't get under low thresholds.

1. iRobot 11S

The 11S is a less expensive self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner that lots of people seem to like. It is good at getting under furniture and is a great option for people with hard floors or daily cleaning. Its suction is weaker than our top picks, however it's still able to do the job. It has a large dust bin and a durable battery. The app lets you schedule daily cleanings or choose a particular room. You can also create a map of your home to allow the device to avoid areas that you don't want it visit.

The app is simple to use and has an intuitive layout. It doesn't include any advanced features, but it's straightforward enough to use and makes it easy to track the status of your robot. It comes with a tutorial that will guide you through the basics.

Its cleaning pattern doesn't always appear logical - sometimes it goes in straight lines, other times it focuses on the edges of the room - however Bounce Navigation ensures your entire floor is kept clean. It's not the best at negotiating obstacles, though - it struggled to get under our piano pedals as well as pet food bowls, and got tangled up in our 2.25-inch shag rug a few times.

We think that there are better robot vacuums on the market than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba 694 is better-built and easier to maintain, incurs lower recurring costs, and is less time-consuming to charge. It also has a larger dustbin, and performs better on all surface types and is able to get over obstacles that are low (like electrical cords) more easily.

The eufy RoboVac 11S is another option for regular vacuuming. It shares a similar design to our top choice and is excellent at picking up fine dust and larger debris from hard flooring. It also does a good job on medium- and low-pile carpet. Similar to the Roomba from iRobot Roomba, it comes with a large dirt compartment and uses BoostIQ to automatically adjust suction power. It has an easy-to-use remote control and you can schedule daily cleanings using the app. The battery can last for about an hour and the bin can be easily empty by removing it from its dock.

2. Roborock S7 maxV Ultra

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is a great robot vacuum and mop with a surprising array of features for automation. It comes in three options including the standard S7, the S7 MaxV Plus, and the S7 MaxV Ultra. The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only model with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternate Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its home base and empty the debris into a dust bag or reservoir, drain the dirty water tank, and wash its mopping pads.

Sensors on the S7 work in tandem to clean and avoid obstacles. It can identify flooring types and save maps of rooms and zones and even detect levels of dirt. It can also schedule and execute spot cleaning sessions. It did well in our tests, but it wasn't able to exactly match the Roomba j7+ in the carpet deep clean test.

You can program the S7 using the companion app to run a cleaning routine in accordance with your schedule. You can select the cleaning mode that is eco or automatic, as well as a day, week or even a time. You can also select whether the robot will stop if it is running out of power or encounters an obstacle.

You can still make use of the S7 even if you don't have a smartphone by connecting an charging dock to a remote control. The controls on the remote are a bit confusing however once you've got the hang of them they work well. The power button functions as the general 'Clean' function and the 'Spot Clean' button directs the robot to clean small areas around itself. The "Spot Clean" button also triggers the child lock.

Roborock's mobile app has been enhanced to include a live-view feature that lets you see what the S7 does at home. You can activate it by pressing a particular sequence of buttons on your S7 and then you can create an unlock pattern in the mobile app, which you can use at any time you want to check out what the S7 is doing.

3. Shark IQ XL

Shark isn't as well-known in the field of robot vacuums as iRobot and Roborock, but our experience with this model has proven it to be one of the top self-emptying robot vacuums currently on the market. It's simple to set up, has an enormous bin that's easy to empty (albeit slightly loudly) into a trash can when full and is easily programmed to complete a home cleaning schedule or as required.

The IQ XL can connect to your home WiFi, which lets you monitor it from the Shark app and view its battery level as it cleans. The app lets you program a cleaning schedule, receive push notifications about its current status as well as pause and resume cleaning, or set it to a single room. It can also be controlled with voice commands through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will inform you which power mode it is currently in--Eco, Normal or Max--but we didn't find that any of the modes made a huge difference in cleaning performance.

Once it finishes a cleaning cycle when it's finished, the IQ XL automatically empties the bin into its base, which then automatically emptys. Its bin holds up to 60 days of waste and won't require emptying more frequently than that unless you have lots of pets with long hair. If you do need to empty it, simply remove the side container and place it over your trash bin and push a button.

The Shark IQ XL is a excellent vacuum cleaner. It does a good job of cleaning bare floors and can maneuver itself well. However the Shark IQ XL feels a little less solidly built than the Roomba 694. It is able to remove a lot of debris on bare floors and does a good job at maneuvering itself however it's not close to matching the iRobot Roomba i7 in terms of performance on carpeted floors. vacbot amazon feels more sturdy, is more durable, requires less maintenance, incurs lower recurring cost and charges more quickly and has comparable battery performance. It also comes with more advanced technology for automation, such as areas that are not accessible and the ability to choose specific rooms to be cleaned.

4. iRobot J7+

This robot vac/mop combination is a rarity as it does both jobs very well. iRobot Combo j7+ has all the smarts and features similar to its j7 counterpart including LiDAR maps and self-emptying. However, it also has additional features for vacuuming and mopping.

The j7+ utilizes the latest acoustic sensor technology to detect the type of floor which allows it to mop or vacuum the room in its first attempt. This information is also used to determine the best cleaning options for rooms with carpets or carpets versus rooms with hard flooring.

Like vacbot amazon , the j7+ is quiet while it's running. It's even less noisy when it's mopping. The maximum reading of 64db on our decibel meter is similar to office chatter.

You can easily set up a cleaning schedule and change what happens when the dust canister fills. The j7+ can be controlled by voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Assistant and other. to allow hands-free operation. the app lets you create and view maps of your home.

The j7+ did well in our tests on hard and carpeted floors, removing all the dirt we threw its way. It has a hard time dealing with pet hair, large debris and sand. But it can clean them with a little more effort. It also has good navigation capabilities, as well as a pair of cliff sensors that stop it from falling down a flight of stairs or getting stuck on furniture legs.

We did find a few minor niggles with the j7+. These include that it can snag on rugs and cords and that it doesn't always shut off its mopping when done vacuuming. Overall, this is an excellent product that ticks all the right boxes.

iRobot j7+ has also one of the best auto-emptying systems we've ever examined. It drops its 14oz/0.4-liter dust container into the base station, and it automatically empties for you. This reduces the amount of trash you need to dispose of and you'll only have to change the reusable dust disposal bag from the dock around every 60 days or so, based on how often you use the j7+.
