Finally, we examined retina-specific Utx and Jmjd3 double knockout mice and found that although the number of rod ON-bipolar cells was reduced, no additional effects from the loss of Utx and Jmjd3 were observed. Taken together, our data show that UTX contributes to retinal differentiation in a lineage-specific manner. This article is protected by copyright. METHODS Women with cervical, endometrial or ovarian cancers diagnosed from 2006 to 2013 were selected through the French gynaecological cancer registry of Côte d'Or, in a cross-sectional survey. Using a questionnaire established with the help of sociologists and psychologists, social and cancer-related work issues were collected among women aged less than 60 years at the time of cancer diagnosis. The socio-economic status was also assessed, at the time of the survey using the EPICES questionnaire. RESULTS A total of 92 gynaecological cancer survivors (CS) participated in this survey. Gynaecological CS reported a decrease in income since cancer diagnosis, difficulties obtaining loans, and a decrease in ability to work, both in the short term after treatment and at the time of survey, on average 6 years after diagnosis. Fatigue, emotional and cognitive difficulties were the reasons cited to explain the decreased ability to work, both immediately after treatment and in the long term. CONCLUSIONS Gynaecological CS experienced many problems, such as decreased work capacity, decreased income and difficulty obtaining loans. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.AIM The aim of this study was to evaluate the ability of Bacillus methylotrophicus M4-1 to protect winter wheat from the harmful effects of soil salinity and alkalinity. METHODS AND RESULTS We isolated the halotolerant B. methylotrophicus M4-1. Two representative soils with different salt contents (S1, 213 μs·cm-1 ; S2, 786 μs·cm-1 ) in the Yellow River delta region of China were selected for experiments. The effects of the M4-1 strain on the typical wheat variety (Jimai 21) in this environment were proven. In S1 soil, the M4-1 strain reduced the wheat rhizosphere soil pH (1.61%) and electrical conductivity (EC) (8.01%) and increased the exchangeable K content (11.14%). The uptake of Mg2+ (20.73%) by wheat roots and K+ (8.84%) by leaves was increased, and the content of Na+ (23.62%) in leaves was reduced. In S2 soil, the M4-1 strain was able to reduce soil EC (2.56%) and increase exchangeable K (11.20%) content. The absorption of K+ (13.28%) in wheat leaves was increased, and the content of Na+ (12.41%) in roots was decreased. Total N and organic matter contents in rhizosphere soil were significantly positively correlated with wheat growth and salt tolerance, whereas EC showed a significant negative correlation. CONCLUSIONS M4-1 attenuates salt stress injury in wheat under both low and high salt stress. SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACT OF THE STUDY We demonstrated the efficacy and value of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria addition to protect winter wheat against salt stress and improve crop yield. We also elucidated the physicochemical and biochemical interactions among M4-1, the rhizosphere, and the host plant. This article is protected by copyright. Although cichlids possess an unusually high number of seven cone opsin genes, they express only a subset of these during their ontogeny, accounting for their astonishing interspecific variation in visual sensitivities. Much of this diversity is thought to have been shaped by natural selection as cichlids inhabit a variety of habitats with distinct light environments. Also, sexual selection might have contributed to the observed visual diversity, and sexual dimorphism in coloration potentially co-evolved with sexual dimorphism in opsin expression. MM-102 clinical trial We investigated sex-specific opsin expression of several cichlids from Africa and the Neotropics and collected and integrated datasets on sex-specific body coloration, species-specific visual sensitivities, lens transmission and habitat light properties for some of them. We comparatively analyzed this wide range of molecular and ecological data, illustrating how integrative approaches can address specific questions on the factors and mechanisms driving diversification, and the evolution of cichlid vision in particular. We found that both sexes expressed opsins at the same levels - even in sexually dimorphic cichlid species - which argues against coevolution of sexual dichromatism and differences in sex-specific visual sensitivity. Rather, a combination of environmental light properties and body coloration shaped the diversity in spectral sensitivities among cichlids. We conclude that although cichlids are particularly colorful and diverse and often sexually dimorphic, it would appear that natural rather than sexual selection is a more powerful force driving visual diversity in this hyper-diverse lineage. This study demonstrates that these variations can cause significant artifacts in B 1 + maps obtained at 7 T with the Bloch-Siegert shift (BSS) B 1 + mapping technique. To suppress these artifacts, a navigator correction scheme was proposed. Two sets of experiments were performed. In the first set of experiments, phase shifts induced by respiration-related B0 variations were assessed for five subjects at 7 T by using a gradient echo (GRE) sequence without phase-encoding. In the second set of experiments, B 1 + maps were acquired using a GRE-based BSS pulse sequence with navigator echoes. For this set, the measurements were consecutively repeated 16 times for the same imaging slice. These measurements were averaged to obtain the reference B 1 + map. Due to the periodicity of respiration-related phase shifts, their effect on the reference B 1 + map was assumed to be negligible through averaging.
