A method of predicting cellular drug inhibition due to heat stress is presented. Black phosphorus nanosheets are used as photothermal agents to induce stress granule formation in tumor cells. The addition of different drugs induces different thermal stress responses. The features of single-photon images are automatically extracted and analyzed by a convolutional neural network algorithm for classification and recognition, with a maximum accuracy rate of 94.52%. Unlike traditional visual discrimination, this method realizes intelligent recognition without human intervention, providing a new model for computer-aided diagnosis with greater objectivity.van der Waals (vdW) transition metal oxides have attracted extensive attention due to their intriguing physical and chemical properties. However, primary drawbacks of these materials are the lack of band structure tunability and substandard optical properties, which severely hinder their implementation in nanophotonic applications. Atomic intercalation is an emerging structural engineering approach for two-dimensional vdW materials to engineer the atomic structure and modify the optical properties, thereby broadening their range of applications. Herein, we synthesized tin-intercalated ultrathin α-MoO3 (Sn-MoO3) nanoribbons via chemical intercalation method and then investigated the broadband nonlinear optics (NLO) of stable few-layer α-MoO3 by performing a Z-scan laser measurement and femtosecond-resolved transient absorption (TA) spectroscopy. Sn-MoO3 showed a stable structure of Mo-O-Sn-O-Mo and a shorter relaxation time than pristine MoO3, indicating the accelerated recombination process of electrons and holes. Furthermore, Sn-MoO3 nanoribbons were used as an optical saturable absorber for ultrafast photonics; a highly stable femtosecond laser with a pulse width of 467 fs was generated from a single-mode fiber in the telecommunication band (1550 nm). These results indicate that atomic intercalation is an effective way to modulate the band structure and nonlinear optical properties of α-MoO3, which hold a great potential in the generation of ultrafast mode-locked laser pulses for optical communication technologies.Oxidative stress plays a central role in the common pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Antioxidant therapy has been suggested for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Sodium dichloroacetate clinical trial Compounds derived from natural sources may offer the potential for new treatment options. Semen Celosiae is a traditional Chinese edible herbal medicine with a long history in China and exhibits wide-reaching biological activities such as hepatoprotective, anti-tumor, anti-diarrheal, anti-diabetic, anti-oxidant, etc. In this study, nine saponins and two phenylacetonitrile glycosides were isolated from Semen Celosiae and their structures were identified using ESI-MS and NMR techniques. Among them, compounds 1 and 2 have not been previously reported. The total concentrations of the five triterpenoid saponins and the two phenylacetonitrile glycosides were 3.348 mg g-1 and 0.187 mg g-1, respectively, suggesting that Semen Celosiae is a novel viable source of the two kinds of compounds. These compounds were observed to significantly attenuate t-BHP-induced neuronal damage by effectively enhancing cell viability and decreasing reactive oxygen species generation and cell apoptosis rate in NSC-34 cells. Furthermore, compounds 1 and 7 reduced the ratios of cleaved caspase-3 caspase-3 and cleaved caspase-7 caspase-7 and the level of cytochrome C, while they increased the levels of SOD1 and Beclin 1. These findings suggest that compounds 1-11 are potent inhibitors of neuron injury elicited by t-BHP, possibly via inhibition of oxidative stress and apoptosis, and activation of autophagy; therefore they may be valuable leads for future therapeutic development.Asymmetrically-bound pyrrolide-based bis-PNP pincer complexes of zirconium and hafnium have been formed. The [κ2-PNPPh][κ3-PNPPh]MCl2 species are in direct contrast to previous zirconium PNP pincer complexes. The pincer ligands are fluxional in their binding and the energy barrier for exchange has been approximated using VT-NMR spectroscopy and the result validated by DFT calculations. The reactions of α,β-unsaturated N-acyliminium ions, generated in situ from 4(S)-O-substitutedhydroxy-5-hydroxy-5-vinyl-N-alkylpyrrolidin-2-ones, with allylsilanes and indoles leading to the formation of spirocyclic heterocycles, are reported. Six single crystal X-ray structures and extensive 2D NMR experiments confirmed the structures and stereochemistries of these products. In addition, computational studies provided mechanistic insights and an understanding of the stereochemical outcomes of these reactions. With the advent of wearable microelectronic devices in the interdisciplinary bio-electronics research field, synaptic devices with capability of neuromorphic computing are attracting more and more attention as the building blocks for the next generation computing structure. Conventional flash-like synaptic transistors are built on rigid solid-state substrates, and the inorganic materials and the high-temperature processing steps have severely limited their applications in various flexible electronic devices and systems. Here, flexible organic flash-like synaptic devices have been fabricated on a flexible substrate with the organic C8-BTBT as the conducting channel. The device exhibits a memory window greater than 20 V and excellent synaptic functions including short/long-term synaptic plasticity and spike-timing-dependent plasticity. In addition, even under the bending condition (7 mm bending radius), the transistor can still stably achieve a variety of synaptic functions. This work shows that low-temperature processing technology with the integration of organic materials can pave a promising pathway for the realization of flexible synaptic systems and the future development of wearable electronic devices.Theoretical study of coinage metal dihalides is challenging due to their complex electron correlation and relativistic effects, particularly the spin-orbit coupling (SOC) effect. Furthermore, vibrational frequencies and characters of their low-lying states are affected by the Renner-Teller effect (RTE) and pseudo-Jahn-Teller effect (PJTE). The theoretical results depend on the basis set and how the electron correlation is treated and previous results even differ qualitatively in the ground state for some silver dihalides. The equation-of-motion coupled-cluster method at the singles and doubles level (EOM-CCSD) for ionization potentials is employed in this work to calculate electron affinities and vertical excitation energies of MX2 (M = Ag, Au; X = Cl, Br and I) as well as structures, harmonic frequencies and adiabatic excitation energies for the lowest two states of these molecules. Effects of the higher level correlation, basis set as well as SOC on these results, particularly on the πu bending mode frequencies of the 2Πg state, are investigated.
