Worries on the several nomenclature methods regarding SARS-CoV-2.
This study aimed to carry out an exhaustive chemical characterization of citrus (orange, mandarin, and grapefruit) decoctions as well as the residues obtained during the decoction process (by-products). The citrus decoctions were rich in hesperidin, naringin, and narirutin, but carotenoids and phytosterols were not detected. Interestingly, these flavanones were found in a higher concentration in the extractable polyphenol fraction of the citrus decoction by-products. Moreover, the greatest content of hesperidin and naringin was found bound to the food matrix by ether/ester bonds. Violaxanthin and β-cryptoxanthin were found as major carotenoids in the orange and mandarin decoction by-products, respectively, whereas the grapefruit decoction by-product showed a low content of carotenoids. All citrus by-products showed β-sitosterol as the major phytosterol, followed by β-campesterol. Therefore, the by-products obtained during the elaboration of citrus decoctions are rich sources of bioactive compounds that can be used for the development of functional foods or dietary supplements.During winemaking a wide variety of processing aids such as albumin, caseinates and lysozyme are often used. DNA-PK inhibitor These proteins are considered allergenic and could become a human health risk in susceptible individuals. In our knowledge, there are no methods published for the analysis of these three proteins simultaneously by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry, with electrospray ionization. Therefore, in this work, a sample preparation approach for the analysis of α-casein, β-casein, albumin and lysozyme, in a single run, was performed and compared with published data. Through a pH adjustment, combining the use of cellulose ester membranes, a precipitation with organic solvents and a final concentration/clean-up, we achieved recovery values from 90.7 to 108.6%. The method was validated, showing determination coefficients R2 ≥ 0.99. This method was able to quantify proteins even at lower levels (limits of quantification from 0.01 to 0.25 mg/L) than the current legal limits.Olive oil is an appreciated food product with high nutritional value, besides being an essential component in many culture diets. In this study, we present for the first time the application of a simple and non-invasive paper-based optoelectronic nose designed in a QR code configuration to evaluate the odor of olive oils. The chemical QR code was fabricated by the addition of 12 dyes, which provided high dimensional data resulting from the interaction between the volatile compounds and the colorimetric array. The color changes were employed to build differential maps with a unique fingerprint (i) to discriminate between olive oil and other edible oil samples; (ii) to quantify nonanaldehyde as an oxidation marker; and (iii) to identify oxidized oils through principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical component analysis (HCA). By developing suitable mobile apps, we anticipate the employment of the chemical QR code for portable, low-cost, and in-situ evaluation of food product quality.Microbial co-inoculation strategy utilizes a combination of microbes to stimulate plant growth concomitant with an increased phytopathogen tolerance. In the present study, 15 endophytic bacterial isolates from rhizosphere and roots of wild chickpea accessions (Cicer pinnatifidum, C. judiacum, C. bijugum and C. reticulatum) were characterized for morphological, biochemical and physiological traits. Two promising isolates were identified as Pseudomonas fluorescens strain LRE-2 (KR303708.1) and Pseudomonas argentinensis LPGPR-1 (JX239745.1) based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Biocompatibility of selected endophytes with Mesorhizobium sp. CH1233, a standard isolate used as a national check in All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) was assessed to develop functional combinations capable of producing Indole acetic acid, gibberellins, siderophores and improving seed vigour (in vitro). In vivo synergistic effect of promising combinations was further evaluated under national AICRP, (Chickpea) at two different agro-climatic zones [North-West plain (Ludhiana and Hisar) and Central zones (Sehore)] for three consecutive Rabi seasons (2015-18) to elucidate their effect on symbiotic, soil quality and yield parameters. On the pooled mean basis across locations over the years, combination of Mrh+LRE-2 significantly enhanced symbiotic, soil quality traits and grain yield over Mrh alone and highly positive correlation was obtained between the nodulation traits and grain yield. Superior B C ratio (1.12) and additional income of Rs 6,505.18 ha-1 was obtained by application of Mrh+LRE-2 over Mrh alone and un-inoculated control. The results demonstrate that dual combination of Mrh and Pseudomonas sp. from wild Cicer relatives can be exploited as a potential bio-fertilizer for increasing soil fertility and improving chickpea productivity under sustainable agriculture.
Meteorin-like protein (METRNL) (also known as IL-41), recently identified as a myokine, is released in response to muscle contraction. It improves the skeletal muscle insulin sensitivity through exerting a beneficial anti-inflammatory effect. However, no independent studies have been published to verify the effects of METRNL on human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and THP-1 human monocytes.

The levels of NFκB and IκB phosphorylation as well as the expression of adhesion molecules were assessed by Western blotting analysis. Cell adhesion assay demonstrated the interactions between HUVEC and THP-1cells. We used enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to measure the levels of TNFα and MCP-1 in culture medium.

Treatment with METRNL suppressed the secretion of TNFα and MCP-1 as well as NFκB and IκB phosphorylation and inflammatory markers in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated HUVECs and THP-1cells. Furthermore, treatment with METRNL ameliorated LPS-induced attachment of THP-1 monocytes to HUVECs via inhibition of adhesion molecule expression and apoptosis. Treatment of HUVEC and THP-1cells with METRNL enhanced AMPK phosphorylation and PPARδ expression in a dose-dependent manner. Small interference (si) RNA-mediated suppression of AMPK or PPARδ restored all these changes.

It has therefore been shown that METRNL ameliorates inflammatory responses through AMPK and PPARδ-dependent pathways in LPS-treated HUVEC. In sum, the current study may suggest the suppressive potential of METRNL against endothelial inflammation.
