Biological behavior of cortical lesions does not differ significantly than conventional type but these are more prone for pathological fractures so these eccentric cortical ABC lesions should be treated with adequate internal fixation along with curettage and bone grafting. Although incidence of cortical or surface variety of ABCs is rare but surgeons might evaluate its severity in view of aggressive benign or malignant lesions of diaphysis.

These advances have resulted in improved outcomes and expansion of indications for total elow arthroplasty (TEA). As the proportion of TEAs being performed for inflammatory arthritis has been decreasing in recent years, TEAs are being performed more commonly for the management of acute distal humerus fractures in the elderly, post-traumatic sequelae, and primary osteoarthritis. Appropriate patient selection and meticulous attention to surgical technique including the surgical approach, implant positioning and fixation will result in acceptable outcomes. Future advances in the design, instrumentation, and surgical technique will allow for further improvement in outcomes as the indications for TEA continue to expand.Several radiological methods of measuring anteversion of the acetabular component after total hip arthroplasty have been described, all time-consuming and with varying reproducibility. This study aimed to compare the recently proposed Area method to true cup anteversion as determined by an accelerometer. This study further applied this method programmatically to autonomously determine radiographic cup orientation using two computer programs, then compared these results to hand and accelerometer measurements. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/sn-52.html 160 anteroposterior pelvis radiographs were taken of a standard Sawbones® pelvis fitted with a total hip arthroplasty system. The acetabular cup was re-oriented between each radiograph, with anteversion ranging from 0° to 90°. An accelerometer was mounted to the cup to measure true cup anteversion. Radiographic anteversion was independently measured via three methods by hand, linear image processing, and machine learning. Measurements were compared to triaxial accelerometer recordings. Coefficient of determination (R2) was found to be 0.997, 0.991, and 0.989 for hand measurements, the machine learning, and linear image processing, respectively. The machine learning program and hand measurements overestimated anteversion by 0.70° and 0.02° respectively. The program using linear techniques underestimated anteversion by 5.02°. Average runtime was 0.03 and 0.59 s for the machine learning and linear image processing program, respectively. The machine learning program averaged within 1° of cup orientation given a true cup anteversion less than 51°, and within 2° given an anteversion less than 85°. The Area method showed great accuracy and reliability with hand measurements compared to true anteversion. The results of this study support the use of machine learning for accurate, timely, autonomous assessment of cup orientation.
Carpal bone lesions are common, even in acute injuries or as sequalae of missed fractures. If not correctly diagnosed and treated, can lead to loss of function, especially in active patients. The surgical management remain difficult particularly in case of small, atypical or non-unions fragments. The treatment of heterogenic shape fractures should require a fragment specific fixation using, traditionally, Kirschner-wire (K-wire). This method of treatment remains the most popular but could be prone to some complication as not stable fixation, need to long time immobilization and wire mobilization.
Nineteen patients presented with carpal bone lesions were treated by the use of HCS 1,5mm headless compression screws. Patients were evaluated post-operative by Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE), the Visual Analogic Scale (VAS), Quick-DASH Score and the grip strength was measured by Jamar dynamometer.
Authors observed improvement of pain control and common activity; fine movements were restored; we observed no post-operative functional instability.
HCS 1,5mm headless compression screws are suitable and smart technique to treat these uncommon fractures to achieve a stable primary fixation and allow an early mobilization and conciliate the versatility of K-wire and the compression action due to screws also in small bone fragment.

Typically, rotator cuff tears occur more frequently in elderly than in younger patients, following a chronic or acute-on-chronic course and usually secondary to due to tendon degeneration. Though there has been a considerable debate in the literature of the terms "acute" and "traumatic" used in the classification of rotator cuff tears, there appears to be consensus about the need for early diagnosis to facilitate prompt surgical treatment and the improve patient outcome. Significant differences in rotator cuff tears between those occurring in younger and older patients could be due to mechanism of injury, presentation, severity of the tear, biological healing potential and rehabilitation. Acute traumatic rotator cuff tears especially in younger age group represent a distinct entity from other patterns of rotator cuff tears. Consequently, a high index of suspicion, focused clinical examination, complementary imaging is a pre-requisite for an early diagnosis and effective management.
