Artificial synaptic devices have potential for overcoming the bottleneck of von Neumann architecture and building artificial brain-like computers. Up to now, developing synaptic devices by utilizing biocompatible and biodegradable materials in electronic devices has been an interesting research direction due to the requirements of sustainable development. Here, a degradable photonic synaptic device is reported by combining biomaterials chlorophyll-a and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Several basic synaptic functions, including excitatory postsynaptic current (EPSC), paired pulse facilitation (PPF), transition from short-term memory (STM) to long-term memory (LTM), and learning and forgetting behaviors, are successfully emulated through the chlorophyll-a/SWCNTs synaptic device. Furthermore, decent synaptic behaviors can still be achieved at a low drain voltage of -0.0001 V, which results in quite low energy consumption of 17.5 fJ per pulse. Finally, the degradability of this chlorophyll-a/SWCNTs transistor array is demonstrated, indicating that the device can be environmentally friendly. This work provides a new guide to the development of next-generation green and degradable neuromorphic computing electronics.In Marfan syndrome (MFS), pregnancy is considered as high risk due to the deficiency of fibrillin in the connective tissue and increased risk of aortic dissection. The objective was to demonstrate the consequences on maternal health, in women with diagnosed and undiagnosed MFS at the time of pregnancy and childbirth. By using national health care registries, we identified all pregnancy related outcomes, from women with MFS (n = 183) and an age-matched background population (n = 18,300). We found 91 pregnancies during follow-up. Significantly fewer women with MFS gave birth, compared to the background population. No women with known MFS had a pregnancy related aortic dissection but complications related to the cervix were increased (HR19.8 [95% CI2.2-177.5]). Fifty women with MFS were undiagnosed at the time of their first pregnancy and/or childbirth. Among these, there were more birth canal related complications HR27.2 (95% CI 2.3-315.0), preeclampsia (HR2.25 [95% CI 1.11-4.60]), fetal deaths (HR12.3 [95% CI 1.51-99.8]), and all delivery-related dissections came from this subgroup. In conclusion, undiagnosed women with MFS experienced more pregnancy and childbirth related complications including fetal death, birth canal issues, preeclampsia, and aortic disease, which emphasizes the need for an early MFS diagnosis and special care during pregnancy and childbirth.Invited for this month's cover is the joint redox flow battery team from Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories. ) in healthy young adult females as compared to males. The objective of the current study was to evaluate whether or not similar differences exist in prepubertal children.

SpO
levels, respiratory rate, and pulse were measured in 4- to 10-year-old males and females. Anthropometric variables, including ethnic origin, age, height, weight, BMI (Body Mass Index), BSA (Body Surface Area), barometric pressure, and altitude above sea level were collected as well.

Ninety five males and 93 females participated in the study. Groups were similar, in terms of respiratory rate, pulse, and anthropometric variables. Mean SpO
in males was 96.95±1.09%, similar to SpO
in females measuring 96.85±0.98%, P=.52.

Here, we present TaxonTableTools (TTT), a new platform-independent GUI that aims to fill this gap by providing simple, reproducible analysis and visualisation workflows. At its base, TTT uses a "TaXon table", which is a data format that can be generated easily within TTT from two input files a read table and a taxonomy table obtained using various published metabarcoding pipelines. TTT analysis and visualisation modules include Venn diagrams to compare taxon overlap among replicates, samples, or analysis methods. TTT analyses and visualises basic statistics, such as read proportion per taxon, as well as more sophisticated visualisations, such as interactive Krona charts for taxonomic data exploration. Various ecological analyses can be produced directly, including alpha or beta diversity estimates, and rarefaction analysis ordination plots. Metabarcoding data can be converted into formats required for traditional, taxonomy-based analyses performed by regulatory bioassessment programs. In addition, TTT is able to produce html-based interactive graphics that can be analysed in any web browser. The software comes with a manual and tutorial, is free and publicly available through GitHub (https//github.com/TillMacher/TaxonTableTools) or the Python package index (https//pypi.org/project/taxontabletools/).
