Behavioral and cognitive tasks in individuals with BED were the subject of 50 studies, contrasting their outcomes with control groups exhibiting both normal and higher weights. Analysis of various studies revealed a distinct profile of cognitive impairments that permeated every stage of decision-making. The areas of Uncertainty Evaluation, Attentional Inhibition, Choice Consistency, and Cognitive Flexibility/Set-shifting demonstrated significant weaknesses. This study proposes a novel model for how faulty decision-making processes affect binge eating disorder (BED) and contribute to binge-eating behaviors.
