We detected the water content in ethanol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solvents via a smartphone with the help of fluorescent Ag nanoclusters (Ag NCs). The Ag NCs intrinsically have two emission peaks, among which the long-wavelength emission intensified with decreasing water content due to the aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIEE) effect, but in contrast the short-wavelength emission was relatively insensitive to water content. This fact makes the Ag NCs an ideal colorimetric indicator of water content in organic solvents. A smartphone was applied to take pictures of Ag NC samples and read the R, G, and B values from the images. When the water content increased from 20% to 55% in ethanol, the G/B values displayed a good linear relationship with the water content, and a limit of detection (LOD) of 4.48% was achieved. Moreover, good consistency was observed when the colorimetric fluorescent Ag NCs were applied to detect water content in real samples such as white wine and medical alcohol. These studies demonstrated a convenient and practical method for the detection of water content via a smartphone.
As systemic cancer treatments increase in complexity, general practitioners (GPs) need access to reliable information to support patients on new and often unfamiliar treatments. The authors explored the experience of GPs in supporting patients receiving anticancer therapy, and the barriers and facilitators to the implementation of a new resource designed to support GPs in this role.

Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with 15 GPs and oncology clinicians. Thematic analysis ofinterviews used inductive coding.

Immunisation uptake in Australian older adults is suboptimal. General practice registrars are responsible for a significant proportion of immunisations in this age group and are also in the process of developing patterns of practice. Despite their role, little is known about general practice registrars' attitudes towards immunisation of older adults, the barriers faced, and the role supervisors play in developing adult immunisation skills.

This was a qualitative study involving semi-structured interviews with general practice registrars and supervisors purposively sampled from around Australia. Data were analysed using thematic analysis.

The five key themes were grouped in terms of perceptions of registrars' role inimmunisation of older adults, consultation barriers, health system barriers, managing vaccine hesitancy, and a team approach to vaccination.

Clinical guidelines advocate using long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARC) to reduce unintended pregnancy, but LARC use in Australia is poor. Additionally, little is known about contraceptive practices of women with ahistory of unintended pregnancy. The aim of this study was to describe current contraception use according to a history of unintended pregnancy.

Data were analysed from women recruited into The Australian Contraceptive ChOice pRoject (ACCORd) trial.

Approximately 47% (128/275) of women aged 16-45 years reported unintended pregnancies, and 30% had an abortion (83/275). Contraceptive data available from 117 women showed that condoms (24%, n= 28/117) and the oral contraceptive pill (22%, n = 26/117) were most commonly used among women reporting one unintended pregnancy or more.

These findings support implementing interventions to increase the uptake of effective contraception, as successfully demonstrated in the ACCORd trial, in general practice.

Asthma presentations are common in general practice, but opportunities to control asthma are often missed. The aim of this study was to explore how general practitioners (GPs) and practice nurses (PNs) deliver asthma care, with particular attention to perceived roles and challenges, and ways to improve management.

Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted withGPs and PNs working in an area ofcultural diversity and socioeconomic disadvantage in western Sydney. Inductive thematic analysis was undertaken.

Nineteen interviews were conducted, with nine GPs and 10 PNs. The main focus of asthma care was on acute presentations, with less emphasis on follow-up and preventive care and underuse of general practice chronic disease models of care. PN roles were generally limited to acute asthma assessment and triage. GPs did not commonly use spirometry or access non-GP specialist input.

Asthma care in general practice may be improved by a greater focus on prevention and control, including through follow-up after acute presentations, enhanced collaboration between GPs and PNs, and supportive practice models.
