Accessibility to high value markets and participation by small-scale mango farmers in these markets in Southern Ghana are low and have received little attention on both policy and academic fronts. This study analyzed the factors that drive smallholder farmers in Ghana to participate in high value mango markets in Southern Ghana. A multistage random sampling technique was used to select 224 mango-producing households. A triple hurdle model was used in the study to capture a 3-step decision-making process. The results from the estimation of the triple hurdle model showed that participation in high value markets was influenced by education, household income, farming experience, ownership of a motorized transport (tricycle) and a radio, trust, distance to road, certification and access to credit. The level of participation in the export markets was determined by household size, household income, farming experience, distance to tarmacked roads and price. The study recommends intensive education and training to capacitate smallholder farmers to enable them to understand and meet the requirements of high value markets. Most countries around the globe suspended schools and provided alternative educational methods. And Saudi Arabia is not an exception. This study aims to investigate the situation of Saudi Deaf students in compulsory education during the suspension of schools. The study presents a discussion on the alternative education methods and content provided by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia during this crisis and is followed by individual semi-structured interviews with eighteen teachers for Deaf students. Three categories were formulated (1) Deaf students' educational status during the suspension of schools (full exclusion); (2) teachers' responses to the exclusion of their students; and (3) reasons for the full exclusion. Our recent finding that the intravenous infusion of L-citrulline dilated retinal arterioles, suggests that L-citrulline could be a potential therapeutic agent for circulatory disorders of the retina. In this study, we determined the effect of an oral L-citrulline treatment on impaired acetylcholine- and BMS-191011-induced vasodilation in the retinal arterioles of diabetic rats. To induce diabetes, rats were administered an intravenous dose of streptozotocin (65 mg/kg) and a 5% D-glucose solution as drinking water. The L-citrulline (2 g/kg/day) and L-arginine (2 g/kg/day) treatments commenced either 15 days before or just after the streptozotocin injection and continued throughout the experimental period. A 29-day treatment with L-citrulline, but not L-arginine, significantly ameliorated the impaired acetylcholine- and BMS-191011-induced retinal vasodilation in diabetic rats without affecting their plasma glucose levels. The 2-week L-citrulline treatment tended to ameliorate the dysfunction of the acetylcholine-induced retinal vasodilation in diabetic rats. In conclusion, these results showed that the retinal blood vessel dysfunction induced by diabetes mellitus could be prevented by the long-term administration of L-citrulline and suggest that the latter could play a potentially prophylactic role in diabetic retinopathy.Tef is one of the most important staple cereal crops in Ethiopia. However, the production and productivity of the crop remain low due to lack of appropriate agronomic recommendations. Lack of optimum sowing methods and seed rates are key agronomic factors limit the productivities of the crop. Hence, field experiment was conducted to study the effects of seed rates and sowing methods on growth, yield and yield components of tef. The treatments contains factorial combination of two sowing methods (row and broadcast) and five seeding rates (5, 7.5,10, 12.5, and 15 kg ha-1in randomized factorial complete block design with three replications. Days to heading, days to maturity, plant height, spike length, total number of tiller, total number of effective tiller, above ground dry biomass yield, grain yield and straw yield collected and subjected to analysis of variance using SAS system. The main effect seed rate significantly affect days to physiological maturity, plant height, panicle length, and straw yield and the maximum values of these parameters were recorded at the seed rate of 5 kg ha-1. Similarly, number of total tillers, fertile tillers, total biomass, grain yield, and lodging percent were significantly (p less then 0.05) influenced by interaction effect of sowing methods and seeding rates. The highest grain yield (2.301 kg/ha) and other growth parameters recorded at the interaction effect of 5 kg ha-1 of seed rate and row planting method compared to other treatments. Maximum net benefit (795,689.21ETB) with acceptable marginal rate of return (104.32) also recorded at the interaction effect of 5 kg ha-1 of seeding rate and row planting. Hence, 5 kg ha-1 seed rate with row planting method could be recommended for maximum yield of tef in Adet soil and climatic conditions.
