Scrotal color Doppler ultrasound (CDUS) still suffers from lack of standardization. Hence, the European Academy of Andrology (EAA) has promoted a multicenter study to assess the CDUS characteristics of healthy fertile men (HFM) to obtain normative parameters.

To report and discuss the scrotal organs CDUS reference ranges and characteristics in HFM and their associations with clinical, seminal, and biochemical parameters.

A cohort of 248 HFM (35.3±5.9years) was studied, evaluating, on the same day, clinical, biochemical, seminal, and scrotal CDUS following Standard Operating Procedures.

The number of elderly patients with colorectal cancer has gradually increased. Laparoscopic colorectal surgery is widely used to approach colorectal cancer. The aim of this study was to evaluate long-term outcomes in octogenarians who underwent laparoscopic colorectal surgery for colorectal cancer.

This study included 158 patients aged 80 or over who underwent surgery for colorectal cancer between 2010 and 2015. We compared long-term outcomes of a laparoscopic colorectal surgery group with those of an open colorectal surgery group by propensity score matching equalizing factors that could affect prognosis such as prognostic nutritional index and Charlson comorbidity index score.

Forty-eight pairs were selected after propensity score matching. The cancer-specific 5-year survival rate was 97.1% in the laparoscopic colorectal surgery group and 87.6% in the open colorectal surgery group (P = .17). The overall 5-year survival rate was 77.3% in the laparoscopic colorectal surgery group and 73.9% in the open colorectal surgery group (P = .32). The 5-year recurrence-free survival rate was 95.1% in the laparoscopic colorectal surgery group and 85.4% in the open colorectal surgery group (P = .14).

No data are currently available on the process of vessel healing and long-term physiological results after implantation of resorbable magnesium-made scaffold (RMS) in human coronary arteries.

To investigate after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and at 12 months follow-up (a) RMS resorption process and vessel healing, as judged by optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging; and (b) physiological result of RMS implantation evaluated by quantitative flow ratio (QFR).

All patients successfully treated with at least one RMS from July 2016 to August 2018 at 2 Italian centers were evaluated. All cases with OCT pullback and/or coronary angiography suitable for QFR analysis performed after PCI and at 12 months were included. Resorption process was analyzed at OCT in each frame reporting presence of residual struts in the vessel.

Forty-four patients/forty-nine lesions were included. 12-months mean lumen area (LA; 7.54 ± 3.04 mm
) significantly decreased compared to mean LA recorded immediately after PCI (8.12 ± 1.89 mm
; p < .01). However, LA changes did not affect the functional result of PCI with a non-ischemic QFR value (>0.80) in 98% of cases at 12-months follow-up. Protruding struts were detectable in more than half of cases and their presence was correlated with an increase in mean LA (+0.73mm
[95% CI 0.51-0.94], p < .001).
