Zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) has been widely recognized as an important driver of tumor growth and metastasis. However, nothing is known about ZEB1-regulated circular (circ)RNAs in cancer. In the current study, we evaluated the function of a novel ZEB1-regulated circRNA derived from the WWC3 gene locus, circWWC3 in breast cancer progression. We found that ZEB1 upregulated circWWC3 expression but not the linear WWC3 mRNA expression. circWWC3 is highly expressed in breast cancer tissues and is associated with the poor prognosis of breast cancer patients. Silencing of circWWC3 significantly suppresses the proliferation, migration, and invasion of breast cancer cells. Mechanically, circWWC3 upregulates multiple oncogenes' expression of the Ras signaling pathway through acting as the sponge of microRNA (miR)-26b-3p and miR-660-3p. Moreover, short hairpin (sh)RNA-mediated knockdown of circWWC3 partially antagonized ZEB1-mediated breast cancer growth and metastasis in vivo. Our findings reveal that ZEB1-mediated upregulation of circWWC3 promotes breast cancer progression through activating Ras signaling pathway, which provides a potential therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker for breast cancer.Hepatic fibrosis is an inflammatory response that leads to liver cirrhosis in the most advanced condition. Liver cirrhosis is a leading cause of deaths associated with liver diseases; hence, understanding the underlying mechanisms of hepatic fibrosis is critical to develop effective therapies. Tripartite motif (TRIM) family proteins have been shown to be involved in liver fibrosis; however, the exact role of several TRIM proteins in this process remained unexplored. In this study, we investigated the role of TRIM37 in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-associated hepatic fibrosis. We analyzed TRIM37 expression in hepatic fibrosis patients and performed functional and mechanistic studies in tissue culture and mouse models to identify the role of TRIM37 in hepatic fibrosis. We found an increased expression of TRIM37 in hepatic fibrosis patients. Mechanistically, we showed that TRIM37 physically interacts with SMAD7 and promotes ubiquitination-mediated degradation of SMAD7, and that SMAD7 is a key mediator of TRM37-induced hepatic fibrosis. Furthermore, we showed nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) activation mediated by reactive oxygen species (ROS) is necessary for the transcriptional induction of TRIM37 during HBV infection. Our study shows TRIM37 as an important promoter of HBV-associated hepatic fibrosis.
Although sexual exploration during adolescence may be perceived as normative, many adolescents who are sexually active are likely to engage in risky sexual behaviors detrimental to their well-being. The present study examined the influence of insecure attachment (anxious and avoidant dimensions), healthy sex attitudes, and constraining relationship beliefs on the following sexual risk indicators age at first sex, number of sexual partners, condom use, length of time knowing sexual partners, seriousness of relationship, and frequency of sex.

Cross-sectional data from two cohorts recruited one year apart for a five-year project were analyzed. Adolescents were public high school students from a Southern state in the USA (cohort 1 N=878, 51.1% females, M=16.50 years old; cohort 2 N=759, 46.9% females, M=15.78 years old).

Across both cohorts, healthy sex attitudes were related to having sex for the first time at an older age, having less sexual partners in a lifetime, and knowing one's sexual partner longer. High scores on the avoidant attachment dimension were related to less commitment to the relationship. PF-573228 inhibitor This dimension also was related to holding lower scores on healthy sex attitudes, which in turn was related to having more sexual partners and knowing one's sexual partner for a shorter time. Although not replicated, higher endorsement of constraining relationship beliefs was associated with inconsistent condom use and greater sex frequency.

Breast milk is the optimal method of human nutrition, and donor human milk is often needed to reduce the incidence of necrotizing enterocolitis and septicemia in preterm infants and improve their survival rate. Donor human milk is recommended as the first alternative when mothers' milk is not available. The establishment of human milk banks is of great significance to promote the breastfeeding of preterm infants. However, there are insufficient studies on human milk banks and milk donation in China.

(1) To investigate postpartum women's knowledge, attitude and practice regarding human milk banks and milk donation and to analyze the influencing factors. (2) To explore reasons why postpartum women reject milk donation and donor milk.

A cross-sectional survey was conducted from February 2019 to July 2019 at two hospitals in Wuhan, a large city in central China.

Mothers who returned to hospital for postpartum follow-up within six months participated in this survey (N=1078).

Questionnaires were used to oilk banks, especially for promoting the health of preterm infants and infants who are unable to receive mothers' breastmilk.
This study reveals that a majority of postpartum women are supportive of human milk banks and more willing to donate breast milk than receive donor milk. Lack of knowledge about human milk banks and safety concerns are the main factors hindering postpartum women from donating or accepting donor milk. Findings suggest that it is important to enhance public awareness regarding human milk banks as potential resources for life-saving therapy for preterm infants.This information should be disseminated during the early stage of the establishment of human milk banks. Moreover, health education of pregnant women should include the importance of human milk as well as the alternative and safety of donor milk from milk banks, especially for promoting the health of preterm infants and infants who are unable to receive mothers' breastmilk.
