The PDP coating exhibited excellent contact-killing activity against both gram-negative Escherichia coli and gram-positive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, with the killing efficiency of approximate 99.9%. In addition, the antiviral capacity of PDP was determined by a green fluorescence protein (GFP) expression-based method using lentivirus-EGFP as a virus model. The PDP coating inactivated the negatively charged lentivirus-EGFP effectively. Moreover, the coating showed good biocompatibility toward mouse NIH 3T3 fibroblast cells. All the above properties demonstrated that PDP would be a promising anti-pathogenic polymeric coating with wide applications in medicine, hygiene, hospital, etc., to control the bacterial and viral transmission and infection.Fast and precise querying in a given set of trajectory points is an important issue of trajectory query. Typically, there are massive trajectory data in the database, yet the query sets only have a few points, which is a challenge for the superior performance of trajectory querying. The current trajectory query methods commonly use the tree-based index structure and the signature-based method to classify, simplify, and filter the trajectory to improve the performance. However, the unstructured essence and the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of the trajectory-sequence lead these methods to a high degree of spatial overlap, frequent I/O, and high memory occupation. Thus, they are not suitable for the time-critical tasks of trajectory big data. In this paper, a query method of trajectory is developed on the Bloom Filter. Based on the gridded space and geocoding, the spatial trajectory sequences (tracks) query is transformed into the query of the text string. The geospace was regularly divided by the geographic gride Bloom Filter-based query method is hardly affected by grid size, original data size, and length of tracks. With such a time advantage, our method is suitable for time-critical spatial computation tasks, such as anti-terrorism, public safety, epidemic prevention, and control, etc.
Paratesticular sarcomas are defined as tumors that arise within the scrotum and include the subsites of epididymis, spermatic cord, and tunica vaginalis and represent the most common type of GU sarcoma. The mainstay of treatment is often surgical resection, combined with histology specific chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Due to the rare nature of the disease, there are limited data to guide management. We present our single-institution retrospective experience regarding the management and treatment of paratesticular sarcomas.
We queried our oncology registry database for patients treated for testicular, spermatic cord, and scrotal soft tissue sarcomas between 1971 and 2017. Patients in this series had pathological confirmation of a sarcoma diagnosis by a sarcoma-specialized pathologist. Only patients with localized disease were included in this analysis with the exception of patients with a diagnosis of rhabdomyosarcoma where patients with both localized and metastatic disease were included on this study.

Scientific meetings provide a forum to disseminate new research and advance patient care. The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Connective Tissue Oncology Society (CTOS), and Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) annual meetings are examples of such gatherings in the field of musculoskeletal oncology. After a review of select MSTS abstracts from 1991 to 1999 revealed a 41% publication rate in scientific journals, previous authors cautioned meeting attendees that the majority of abstracts may not survive rigorous peer review and may not be scientifically valid. Since two decades have passed, this study reexamined publication rates and characteristics in a contemporary and expanded cohort of oncology abstracts presented at the AAOS, CTOS, and MSTS annual meetings.
1408 podium and poster abstracts from the AAOS (oncology-focused from 2013 to 2015), CTOS (2012 to 2014), and MSTS (2012 to 2014) annual meetings were reviewed to allow for a four-year publication window. selleck products Searches were performed withports the continued organization of multiple scientific meetings in musculoskeletal oncology.
Publication rates in this study were higher than previous reports in musculoskeletal oncology and comparable or better than recent reports for other orthopedic meetings. Comparisons across the AAOS, CTOS, and MSTS annual meetings highlight notable differences but suggest similarity overall in the quality of evidence presented with little overlap between meetings. Taken together, this study points to progress in the review processes used by the program committees, reaffirms the importance of critical appraisal when considering abstract findings, and supports the continued organization of multiple scientific meetings in musculoskeletal oncology. In this article, we outline how the response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has the potential to fundamentally change how we think and feel about our own age, and how we think and feel about other age groups. Specifically, we outline how discourse surrounding the pandemic has strengthened the homogeneous view of older adults as vulnerable, has socially stigmatized being an older adult, and has exacerbated hostile and benevolent expressions of ageism. We explore the impact of these changing dynamics on intergenerational cohesion and relations, and propose that understanding theories of ageism will be essential for how we handle future pandemics in order to reduce the potential negative impact of crises on individuals as well as on communities and societies. In this paper, we develop a model averaging method to estimate a high-dimensional covariance matrix, where the candidate models are constructed by different orders of polynomial functions. We propose a Mallows-type model averaging criterion and select the weights by minimizing this criterion, which is an unbiased estimator of the expected in-sample squared error plus a constant. Then, we prove the asymptotic optimality of the resulting model average covariance estimators. Finally, we conduct numerical simulations and a case study on Chinese airport network structure data to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed approaches.
