Understanding the relationship between biodiversity and biomass will be crucial for soil and water conservation of the whole basin of the Yellow River. The positive effects of biodiversity on aboveground biomass are altered via two fundamental mechanisms-niche complementarity and selection effects-and are modulated by environmental context and community structure in natural communities. Most studies of biodiversity-biomass relationships have focused on grasslands and forests, rather than on shrublands. We combine multiple biotic variables (biodiversity, functional identity and community structural attributes) and environmental context with aboveground biomass across shrubland habitat types (temperate hilly, temperate montane and subtropical montane) at neighbourhood and community spatial scales, to evaluate the effects of these factors on shrubland aboveground biomass, in the Yellow River basin. We found aboveground biomass was influenced primarily by the community-weighted mean plant maximum height, followed by species richness and community-weighted mean specific leaf area. Furthermore, individual plant size inequality, mean annual precipitation and water availability either directly or indirectly influenced aboveground biomass. The biodiversity-aboveground biomass relationship was stronger at the broader spatial scale. Thus, our findings indicate that both niche complementarity and selection effects shape the effects of biodiversity on shrubland aboveground biomass, although selection effects are more important. Moreover, they indicate that water is the most important environmental factor for determining aboveground biomass, and suggest that community structure and spatial scale could influence shrubland aboveground biomass and its response to biodiversity.Sustainability concerns are increasing globally. Besides, in Pakistan, these concerns are increasing day by day due to lack of education as well as redundancy among human capital, depletion of natural resources and economic growth can lead to pose severe threats to the environment. To address this concern, this study examines the phenomena that in what way natural resources, human capital, and economic growth affect two important indicators i.e., ecological footprint and carbon emission in Pakistan from 1985 to 2018 by using the dynamic autoregressive distribution lag (DARDL) approach. The outcomes of the analysis indicate that in the long run human capital and natural resource has a negative link with carbon emission whereas economic growth has a positive link with carbon emission. On the other side, in the short run, human capital and economic growth have a positive link with carbon emission while natural resources have a negative link with carbon emission. Moreover, in the long and short-run human capital and economic growth has a positive link with ecological footprint whereas natural resources have a negative link with the ecological footprint. The pyrolysis kinetics model of UOS was systematically constructed by sectionalized single-step reaction approach (SSRA) and distributed activation energy model (DAEM), and the data reproducibility was further evaluated. The results showed that when the pyrolysis operation temperature interval was set from 380 K to 1170 K, two weigh loss step, two endo/exothermic regions and three significant mass-loss peak were respectively emerged in TG, DSC and DTG curves, based on which the TG curves could be sectionalized into three stages. Attributing to the ∆E/Eα¯ value of each stage was higher than 10% but lower than 20% derived from the activation energy assessment, it is not only revealed three multi-step reactions were carried out in sequence with an individual dominant single-step reaction which was sufficient for the SSRA utilization, but also displayed a well fitted by the Gaussian distribution which satisfied the requirement of DAEM implementation. Based on the five-step construction procedure introduced in this paper, pyrolysis kinetics model of UOS could be successful established and interpret as SSRA-based and DAEM-based piecewise function. The latter exhibited a better performance on the data reproduction than the former because the nRSS value of the reproduced data derived from DAEM-based model was lower than 1.86%. The higher mathematical flexibility of DAEM-based model function was the major attribution to a better data reproducibility, also, it possessed a potential ability in predicting the reaction rate at an arbitrary reaction temperature once the heating ratio was preset.
