The tiller number per unit area is one of the main agronomic components in determining yield. A real-time assessment of this trait could contribute to monitoring the growth of wheat populations or as a primary phenotyping indicator for the screening of cultivars for crop breeding. However, determining tiller number has been conventionally dependent on tedious and labor-intensive manual counting. In this study, an automatic tiller-counting algorithm was developed to estimate the tiller density under field conditions based on terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) data. The novel algorithm, which is named ALHC, involves two steps (1) the use of an adaptive layering (AL) algorithm for cluster segmentation and (2) the use of a hierarchical clustering (HC) algorithm for tiller detection among the clusters. Three field trials during the 2016-2018 wheat seasons were conducted to validate the algorithm with twenty different wheat cultivars, three nitrogen levels, and two planting densities at two ecological sites (Rugao ler counting method that is suitable for the field environment.
In the diagnosis of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), reverse transcriptase-PCR (RT-PCR) technique is often used. We evaluated the compatibility of SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR kits containing different gene targets during the pandemic.

genes). The correlation between two assays were determined by Deming regression analysis and chi-square analyses.
Diagnovital PCR kit showed amplification in a narrow Ct range and conveniently sharper exponential amplification curves than Bio-Speedy PCR kit. While the correlation between the findings of the two kits was apparent even with single gene target, this correlation increased when a secondary biomarker was added to the correlation calculations.
We have observed high correlation between different PCR kits, however, using different PCR kits during the pandemic may provide a more accurate diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2, since despite correlation there are a number of patients showing contradicting diagnosis.

The aim of this study was to computationally predict conserved RNA sequences and structures known as
-acting RNA elements (CREs) in the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) genome.
Bioinformatics tools were used to analyze and predict CREs by obtaining viral sequences from available databases.
Computational analysis revealed the presence of RNA stem-loop structures within the 3' end of the ORF1ab region analogous to previously identified SARS-CoV genomic packaging signals. Alignment-based RNA secondary structure predictions of the 5' end of the SARS-CoV-2 genome also identified conserved CREs.
These CREs may be potential vaccine and/or antiviral therapeutic targets; however, further studies are warranted to confirm their roles in the SARS-CoV-2 life cycle.

Occupational exposure to chemotherapeutic agents in hospitals is a critical issue. Here, we focused on occupational exposure to platinum-based anti-cancer drugs (PDs) by evaluating platinum concentrations in hair and environmental workplace samples to monitor the risk among workers.
Hospital workers who dealt with or without PDs, patients treated with PDs, and non-medical office workers outside the hospital donated hair samples and completed a questionnaire regarding their history of handling PDs, including any incidents. Hair samples were collected and surface wipe sampling was performed in July 2010 and April 2015, before and after moving to a new building and introducing a revised safety program in August 2010. Samples were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry.
Platinum concentrations in hair from PDs-handling workers was significantly higher than in non-PDs-handling workers (
= 0.045), although 50 times lower than that from PDs-treated patients. Platinum concentrations in the hospital environment had decreased at the second survey 5 years later but had not changed significantly in the hair samples from hospital workers.
Platinum concentrations in hair are likely dependent on the frequency of handling PDs. Reduced environmental contamination from PDs did not influence platinum levels in hospital workers' hair. Continuous monitoring by measuring platinum concentrations in the environment and in hair would provide information regarding these issues.

The challenges faced by professionals when working in the field of psychiatry require the development of adequate defensive and coping mechanisms. This study aimed to explore both coping strategies and defense mechanisms and their relationship in psychiatry trainees in Romania.
A cross-sectional study was conducted to determine and evaluate both defensive and coping mechanisms of Romanian psychiatry trainees. Defensive Style Questionnaire-60 and COPE scale were applied to psychiatry trainees from five training centers in Romania. By applying structural equation modeling, models that presumed the existence of relationships between coping strategies and defensive mechanisms were analyzed.
Superior defense mechanisms and task-oriented coping strategies were the commonly used approaches by psychiatry trainees.
