The aim of this study was to develop an open-access CADx algorithm with high accuracy for classification of suspicious lesions in mpMRI of the prostate. This retrospective study was approved by the local ethics commission, with waiver of informed consent. A total of 124 patients with 195 reported lesions were included. All patients received mpMRI of the prostate between 2014 and 2017, and transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided and targeted biopsy within a time period of 30 days. In this work, we report the complete amino acid sequence of stenodactylin and 3D structure prediction. The comparison between the primary sequence of stenodactylin and other RIPs allowed us to identify homologies/differences and the amino acids involved in RIP toxic activity. Stenodactylin RNA was isolated from plant caudex, reverse transcribed through PCR and the cDNA was amplificated and cloned into a plasmid vector and further analyzed by sequencing. Nucleotide sequence analysis showed that stenodactylin A and B chains contain 251 and 258 amino acids, respectively. The key amino acids of the active site described for ricin and most other RIPs are also conserved in the stenodactylin A chain. Stenodactylin amino acid sequence shows a high identity degree with volkensin (81.7% for A chain, 90.3% for B chain), whilst when compared with other type 2 RIPs the identity degree ranges from 27.7 to 33.0% for the A chain and from 42.1 to 47.7% for the B chain.Knowledge of the survival and stability of a pathogen is important for understanding its risk, reducing its transmission, and establishing control measures. Lassa virus is endemic in West Africa, causes severe disease, and is an emerging pathogen of concern. Our study examined the survival of Lassa virus in blood and tissue culture media at two different temperatures. The stability of Lassa virus held within a small particle aerosol was also measured. In liquids, Lassa virus was found to decay more quickly at 30 °C compared to room temperature. Sealed samples protected from environmental desiccation were more stable than samples open to the environment. In a small particle aerosol, the decay rate of Lassa virus was determined at 2.69% per minute. This information can contribute to risk assessments and inform mitigation strategies in the event of an outbreak of Lassa virus.
