Aerosol inhalation is considered the primary route of DU exposure. Although laboratory tests have confirmed that inhalation of DU aerosol can cause lung, kidney, and other organ damage, epidemiological studies have found no conclusive evidence that persons in areas with prolonged exposure to DU-containing bombs are affected. After the body inhaled DU aerosols, we first clear the insoluble DU through whole-lung lavage (WLL). Then we eliminate the soluble uranium by the chelating agent. Besides, reducing DU damage to tissues and cells through drugs is also an important treatment method. In future research, emphasis should be placed on the damage mechanism of DU aerosol, the laboratory and clinical research of DU chelating agents, the research on the combination of DU chelating agent and WLL, and the research and development of new drugs to prevent DU damage.Data on reduction of radioactivity in plants are highly important for making decision on emergency response and remediation of contaminated areas. Dynamics of the 131I and 137Cs concentrations in the weed leaves sampled in the areas affected by the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident in Japan was assessed for the period March-December 2011. The effective half-lives for 131I and 137Cs of 3.8-4.2 days and 7.1-13.3 days in the weed leaves were calculated for the first two months after the deposition. The approach for assessment of the aggregated transfer factors based on the ambient dose equivalent rate was suggested and validated. The geometric means of the soil to the weed leaves aggregated transfer factors were estimated for June-December 2011. Soil to crop 137Cs- concentration ratios (buckwheat, brown rice and soybean) were estimated for 2011-2016. Soil to crop concentration ratios were found to decrease in the order of soybean > buckwheat > brown rice. The effective half-lives for 137Cs in these crops were estimated to be between 1 and 2.5 years for the period 2011 2016, and longer than 5-7 years after 2016. It was found that these data comply with the Chernobyl related data obtained for similar conditions and complement of international documents on radionuclide transfer in agricultural environment such as the IAEA TRS 472.Quantification of cardiac left ventricle has become a hot topic due to its great significance in clinical practice. Many efforts have been devoted to LV quantification and obtained promising performance with the help of various deep neural networks when validated on a group of samples. To explore the novel photocatalysts with efficient adsorption-photocatalytic activity, flower-like hierarchical ZnS-Ga2S3 heterojunction was prepared for the solar-light-driven reduction of Cr(VI). Its adsorption-photocatalytic capacity is greatly affected by the ZnS/Ga2S3 molar ratio, Cr(VI) content, pH values, and inorganic ions. Among these obtained composites, ZnS-Ga2S3-3 with a ZnS/Ga2S3 molar ratio of 31 exhibits the best adsorption-photocatalytic capacity. The adsorption capacity of ZnS-Ga2S3-3 is 54.42 mg g-1, and its total removal efficiency is 99.10% for 100 mg L-1 Cr(VI) solution after 160 min. In addition, the adsorption-photo-reduction performance of ZnS-Ga2S3-3 is slightly deactivated after nine cycle times. The Langmuir, pseudo-second-order, and first-order models well describe the adsorption isotherm, adsorption kinetic, and photo-reduction kinetic of ZnS-Ga2S3-3, respectively. The synergy effect of ZnS and Ga2S3 are favorable for the efficient transfer and separation of charge carriers, and provide sufficient vacant sites at the junction interface for the adsorption of Cr(VI).Strontium-90 (t1/2 = 29 y) is one of the most concerned isotopes in both nuclear accidents and reprocessing of nuclear fuel. In this study, the removal of strontium using low cost and valuable Dowex-HCR-S/S (DHS) resin was achieved. The kinetic and equilibrium sorption studies have been investigated using batch technique. The results of kinetic studies showed that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model was found to correlate well with the experimental data. Equilibrium data were also analyzed by sorption isotherm models indicating that the monolayer capacity of Sr(II) at equilibrium is 400.0 mg/g. It was concluded that resin has an efficient sorption capacity compared to many sorbents. The thermodynamic parameters of the removal (ΔHo, ΔSo, and ΔGo) were also determined. The removal process was endothermic and spontaneous. The resin has been successfully applied for the removal of 85Sr from organic liquid scintillator waste and some environmental waters such as tap water, river water, sea water and ground water samples.
