Koji molds, such as Aspergillus oryzae and Aspergillus sojae, are used in the food industry in East Asia and have been explored for the large-scale production of extracellular hydrolases. We previously found that the deletion of a gene encoding a putative GT2 glycosyltransferase increased production of extracellular hydrolases in A. sojae. The gene was named rseA (regulator of the secretory enzyme A). We predicted that intracellular signaling pathways were involved in the increased production of hydrolases in the ΔrseA mutant of A. sojae. However, little has been reported on molecular biological knowledge about A. sojae. Hence, Aspergillus nidulans, a typical model organism used in molecular biology, was employed for the functional characterization of rseA in this study. Deletion of the rseA ortholog in A. nidulans induced increased extracellular production of hydrolases under the solid-state cultivation condition, similar to that in A. sojae. The involvement of the cell wall integrity pathway and the high osmolarity glycerol pathway in ΔrseA was further investigated. The results indicated that the HOG pathway played an important role in the increased extracellular production of hydrolases caused by the deletion of the rseA gene. rseA ortholog in A. nidulans was identical to cpsA, which was reported to function as a regulator of mycotoxin production, morphogenesis, and cell wall biosynthesis. However, this is the first study reporting that rseA/cpsA regulates extracellular hydrolase production in A. nidulans.Charonia lampas sauliae (triton snails, triton shells or tritons; Mollusca, Caenogastropoda, Littorinimorpha, Ranellidae) is a marine species with a wide distribution. In Korea, this species is listed as vulnerable and is regionally protected as an endangered species. Here, we report the first comprehensive transcriptome dataset of C. lampas sauliae obtained using the Illumina HiSeq 2500 platform. In total, 97.68% of raw read sequences were processed as clean reads. Of the 577,478 contigs obtained, 146,026 sequences were predicted to contain coding regions. About 89.34% of all annotated unigene sequences showed homologous matches to protein sequences in PANM DB (Protostome database). Further, about one-third of the unigene sequences were annotated using the UniGene, Swiss-Prot, Clusters of Orthologous Groups (COG) and Gene Ontology (GO) databases. In total, 190 enzymes were predicted under key metabolic pathways under stood through Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) database annotation. Repetitive elements such as long terminal repeats (LTRs), short interspersed nuclear elements (SINEs), long interspersed nuclear elements (LINEs), and DNA elements were enriched in the unigene sequences. Among the identified transcripts were the channel proteins, some of which were blocked by tetrodotoxin, which is thought to be synthesized by symbiotic bacteria inhabiting the shells. In addition, conotoxin superfamily peptides, such as B-conotoxin, conotoxin superfamily T and alpha-conotoxin, were identified, which may have relevance to biomedical and evolutionary research. A transcriptome-wide search for polymorphic loci identified 21,568 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) in the unigene sequences. Most SSRs were dinucleotides, among which AC/GT was the dominant SSR type. The molecular and genetic resources revealed in this study could be utilized for investigations on the fitness of the species in the marine environment and sustainability in a changing habitat.Osler-Weber-Rendu, also known as Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia, is an autosomal dominant disease with phenotypic manifestations that include pulmonary, cerebrospinal, hepatic, and other visceral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). Pulmonary AVMs can result in hypoxemia, hemoptysis, or stroke due to paradoxical embolism. The mainstay of treatment is transcatheter embolization. Central nervous system and abdominal visceral AVMs contribute to morbidity of the disease. Radiologists should be familiar with the imaging manifestations and treatment algorithm of AVMs in Osler-Weber-Rendu to effectively guide patient care.
Our health system set out to improve services to patients from the LGBTQ community as a step towards decreasing disparities in care.
A pilot education intervention targeting staff knowledge and skills regarding terminology with regards to gender fluidity and sexual orientation was designed and implemented.
81 staff members participated and we found improvements in knowledge but there remain uncertainties that can be addressed in future training sessions.
LGBTQ staff education in radiology is feasible and effective. Additional education interventions may be necessary to address persistent knowledge gaps. Effects on patient acre are yet unknown.

The vast majority of cholangiocarcinomas are adenocarcinomas with a high proportion of fibrous stroma. Based on the macroscopic growth pattern, CC is classified as mass-forming, periductal infiltrating, or intraductal, with each type having its own characteristic imaging findings and prognostic outcome. The recently proposed pathological classification of cholangiocarcinoma into two types perihilar large duct type and peripheral small duct and/or ductular type helps in better understanding of the morphology and the imaging appearances. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) remain the main tools of imaging. We aim to provide a comprehensive outline of the different subtypes and the rationale behind various imaging features of these subtypes. Cholangiocarcinoma is one of the more difficult tumors to treat and till date, surgery remains the only definitive curative treatment.
To quantify the financial effect of delayed reporting of new moderate sedation (MS) Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes at an academic radiology practice, and to identify barriers to timely reporting.
Billing and reimbursement data was collected for a 28-month period (January 1, 2017-April 30, 2019). Reporting of new MS codes was identified and compared to the number of procedures performed by radiology over the study period. click here Using the number of procedures performed and payment data, losses were estimated. A root cause analysis was then performed to further understand delayed reporting.
MS was reported with 2.5% of cases in 2017, 47.8% of cases in 2018 and 69.1% of cases in 2019. Appropriate coding was not achieved until June 2018, equating to a 17-month lag in implementation. Lost revenue from inaccurate reporting of MS alone was $21,357 ± $3,945 per month. Primary barriers to an efficient transition included (1) updating billing systems, (2-5) coder, nursing, technologist, and operator education and coordination, and (6) drafting and vetting new procedural report templates.
