Ileocolic intussusception: Ultrasound-guided hydrostatic decrease together with sleep and analgesia.
Results Patients with recovery of menstruation after chemotherapy less frequently had lymph node involvement at diagnosis (45% vs 66%, p = 0.001). After a median follow-up of 6.7 years, the adjusted hazard ratios were 1.45 (95% CI 0.83-2.54) for DFS and 1.19 (95% CI 0.71-1.98) for OS. Conclusion No significantly increased recurrence risk was found for hormone receptor-negative BC patients with recovery of menstruation after chemotherapy. However, the outcome of the multivariable model is not reassuring and a potentially increased recurrence risk cannot be excluded. The results need to be validated in a larger prospective study for a more definitive answer. Background and purpose Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a known risk factor for the development of seizures, but little is known about the pathophysiology of seizures in the acute phase post-ICH and their influence on functional outcome. With the use of an animal model, the underlying pathophysiology could be further unraveled. The aim of our study was to optimize the rat collagenase stroke model for the detection of acute symptomatic seizures using video-EEG monitoring. Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats were implanted with scalp electrodes and a craniotomy was made for later injection of collagenase. After one week of baseline video-EEG recording, rats were injected with 0.6 U collagenase in 0.7 μL saline in left striatum, in close proximity of the piriform cortex, and immediately reconnected to the video-EEG setup for 7 days. Occurrence of clinical and electrographic seizures was assessed and functional deficits were evaluated on several time points using the cylinder test, Neurological Deficit Scale (NDS) and forelimb placing test. this website At day 7 post-ICH, animals were euthanized. The volume and cortical involvement of the hemorrhage were assessed by histological examination of the brain tissue, using Cresyl violet stain. Results Collagenase injection induced ICH in all animals with a mean volume of 27 mm³ (SEM 7 mm³, range 4-92 mm³). Functional deficits were present in all animals injected with collagenase (pre-ICH vs post-ICH, p less then 0.001). Epileptic seizures occurred in 5/11 animals and started between 1 and 61 h after ICH induction. Behavioral changes were observed in 13/15 seizures. Conclusions Injecting rats with 0.6 U of collagenase is a useful model to study the occurrence of acute symptomatic seizures post-ICH as it results in ICH in all animals without mortality, 45% incidence of ICH-induced acute symptomatic seizures and measurable functional deficits. Objective Preeclampsia is a severe obstetric complication affecting 2-8% of pregnancies. There is a common belief that women with preeclampsia experience a shorter duration of labor, where it is thought that increased inflammation that occurs with the disease facilitates labor. However, little evidence exists to support or refute this. Thus, we undertook a register-based cohort study investigating the association between hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and labor duration. Study design This was a Swedish register-based cohort study of nulliparous women with spontaneous or induced onset of labor at >34 weeks of gestation with a singleton fetus in cephalic presentation. Information of duration of labor was retrieved from electronic birth records and compared between women with hypertensive disorders and normotensives pregnancies. Data was represented as mean adjusted difference in hours (adjusted for pre-gestational disorders, maternal characteristics and mode of delivery) and adjusted hazard ratios (aHR), women with spontaneous onset of labor, however an association was observed among women who were induced. Objective Our aim was to study fertility issues, attitudes towards reproductive techniques and fertility preservation options in women of reproductive age with endometriosis. Study design In 2018 we conducted a web-based survey on fertility issues in women aged 18-40 years with endometriosis. Participants were recruited via advertisements on social media and local endometriosis support groups. Participants completed a self-developed online questionnaire evaluating the following dimensions sociodemographic, medical data, parental project, knowledge and attitudes toward endometriosis and fertility, means used to access information, and reproductive choices. Results The majority of women (96 %) worried about the impact of endometriosis on their fertility. Approximately half of them (52 %) reported having received sufficient information concerning the effect of endometriosis on fertility from their doctor, whereas 31 % had discussed fertility issues with their doctor but desired further information. In contrast, tention should be given to information and counselling about fertility preservation options since most women consider their knowledge on the topic insufficient. Knowledge and attitudes to counsel endometriosis patients on fertility issues and fertility preservation options should be included in the training curricula of gynecologists. Adequate information on reproductive aging, risk factors for infertility, and reproductive choices, including oocyte vitrification, should be incorporated into follow-up visits for endometriosis patients.Partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) is regarded as a colorectal cancer (CRC) risk gene, but the prognostic implication of PALB2 in CRC remains unclear. In this study, we evaluate the prognostic value of the gene copy number alteration (CNA) and mRNA expression of PALB2 in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, and then validated with our database. We downloaded the copy number and mRNA data of PALB2 from TCGA database and examined the relationship among the genetic alterations, expression levels and survival outcomes. Gene ontology (GO) analysis was performed to study the function of PALB2. cBioPortal database was used to explore the potential co-expression genes of PALB2. There were 6.3% (37 of 582) CRC patients diagnosed as PALB2 gene deletion. The PALB2 deletion group expressed significantly lower of PALB2 mRNA than the non-deletion group (P less then 0.001). Survival analysis showed that PALB2 deletion was significantly associated with shorter disease-free survival (DFS) (P = 0.026) and overall survival (OS) (P = 0.
