Reef-building corals live in a mutualistic relationship with photosynthetic algae (family Symbiodiniaceae) that usually provide most of the energy required by the coral host. This relationship is sensitive to temperature stress; as little as a 1°C increase often leads to the collapse of the association. This sensitivity has led to an interest in the potential of more stress-tolerant algae to supplement or substitute for the normal Symbiodiniaceae mutualists. In this respect, the apicomplexan-like microalga Chromera is of particular interest due to its greater temperature tolerance. We generated a de novo transcriptome for a Chromera strain isolated from a GBR coral ('GBR Chromera') and compared with those of the reference strain of Chromera ('Sydney Chromera'), and to those of Symbiodiniaceae (Fugacium kawagutii, Cladocopium goreaui and Breviolum minutum), as well as the apicomplexan parasite, Plasmodium falciparum. In contrast to the high sequence divergence amongst representatives of different genera within the family Symbiodiniaceae, the two Chromera strains featured low sequence divergence at orthologous genes, implying that they are likely to be conspecifics. Although KEGG categories provide few criteria by which true coral mutualists might be identified, they do supply a molecular rationalization that explains the ecological dominance of Cladocopium spp. amongst Indo-Pacific reef corals. The presence of HSP20 genes may contribute to the high thermal tolerance of Chromera.Pediatric-type follicular (PTFL), marginal zone (MZL), and peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) account each for less then 2% of childhood non-Hodgkin lymphoma. We present clinical and histopathological features of PTFL, MZL, and few subtypes of PTCL and provide treatment recommendations. For localized PTFL and MZL, watchful waiting after complete resection is the therapy of choice. For PTCL, therapy is subtype-dependent and ranges from a block-like anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL)-derived and, alternatively, leukemia-derived therapy in PTCL not otherwise specified and subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma to a block-like mature B-NHL-derived or, preferentially, ALCL-derived treatment followed by hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in first remission in hepatosplenic and angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma.Purpose A retrospective evaluation of extended anterior ceramic laminate veneers (EACVs) after a mean observational period of 10 years. Methods Thirty-one patients (20 females/11 males) underwent restoration with 101 adhesively luted, heat-pressed EACVs (maxilla, n = 65; mandible, n = 36). Results The 10 year survival rate was 91.8% (95% confidence interval [95%-CI] 0.87;0.97). Eight ceramic fractures, one biological failure, and one change in treatment plan caused the observed failures. Seventy-seven of the 101 restorations remained intervention-free in service (success rate 78.6% [95%-CI 0.70;0.88]). Fourteen interventions were needed (nine recementations, two endodontic treatments, two composite fillings, and one fracture polishing). The jaw position (maxilla/mandible, survival P = .578/success P = .056) had no influence on the clinical performance. EACVs covering large areas of exposed dentin (>50%) were associated with a significantly increased risk (hazard ratio 2.98, P = .019) of needing a clinical intervention (success rate 68.0% [95%-CI 0.52; 0.84]). However, the degree of dentin exposure had no effect on the survival rate (P = .761). Conclusions After a mean observational period of 10 years, mandibular and maxillary EACVs exhibited survival and success rates that were comparable. Significantly lower success rates were associated with large areas of exposed dentin (>50%). Clinical significance Mandibular and maxillary EACV revealed 10-year survival rates comparable to those published for anterior metal-ceramic and glass-ceramic full-coverage crowns. Precaution should be taken not to expose dentin, and when large areas of dentin are exposed, different conditioning/luting strategies should be used.Commensal rats (Rattus spp.), which are globally distributed, harbour many pathogens responsible for significant human diseases. Despite this, we have a poor understanding of the epidemiology and genetic diversity of some recently neglected zoonotic pathogens, such as Leptospira spp., Bartonella spp. and hepatitis E virus (HEV), which constitute a major public health threat. Thus, we surveyed the occurrences, co-infection and genetic diversity of these pathogens in 129 urban rats from China. For Rattus tanezumi, the prevalences of Leptospira spp., Bartonella spp. and HEV infection were 6.67%, 0% and 46.67%, respectively. The prevalences of Leptospira spp., Bartonella spp. and HEV infection were 57.89%, 9.65% and 57.89% for Rattus norvegicus respectively. Leptospira spp. and HEV infections were more likely to occur in mature R. norvegicus. Phylogenetic analyses showed that pathogenic Leptospira interrogans and Leptospira borgpetersenii might exist. We also found that Bartonella spp. showed high similarity to Bartonella elizabethae, Bartonella rochalimae and Bartonella tribocorum, which are implicated in human disease. Dual and triple infections were both detected. Moreover, dual infections with Leptospira spp. check details and HEV represented the most frequent co-infection, and there was a significantly positive association between them. High genetic diversity was observed in genes segments from Leptospira, Bartonella and HEV. Our results first discover the occurrence of multiple co-infections and genetic diversity of Leptospira, Bartonella and HEV in commensal rats from China. Altogether, the present study provides an insight into evaluating the risk of rat-borne zoonoses in urban China.Combustion of liquid fuels containing sulfur compounds is highly unfavorable due to the adverse effects caused by the resultant SOx emission. Recently, BN and BN-based materials have gained significant interest in emerging desulfurization processes such as oxidative desulfurization and adsorptive desulfurization. In this review, BN and BN-based materials are elaborately discussed in the context of their use in various desulfurization techniques. A brief description about the different desulfurization processes is provided at the outset. The relationship between the characteristics (the defects, morphology, porosity and surface area) of BN and desulfurization efficiency is also summarized. Furthermore, the mechanistic insights regarding the action of BN materials in the desulfurization processes are discussed.
