It is possible to obtain Bw more accurately by using QI specified by the measured Al-HVL.In this study, the ichthyoplankton in two distinct tropical seascapes, gravelly sand with rhodolith beds (SRB) and muddy sand with seagrasses, were compared. The number of eggs was higher in the seagrass beds; however, the number of fish larvae was slightly higher in the SRB. Seagrass beds present less turbulent hydrodynamics and favor the retention of eggs and spawning. A more structured habitat provides better shelter, especially for eggs. However, as ontogeny progresses, the fish can explore areas with less shelter. This behavior was observed in this study, where the less structured SRB habitat had a high density of larvae in the later developmental stage. The dominance of earlier larval stages demonstrates a preference for more protected and less turbulent seascapes for nursery and offspring rearing. The results highlight that mapping of these seascapes (e.g., seagrass and rhodolith beds) will help to establish conservation measures to protect ecological connectivity and important tropical species.In the English Channel, the eastern Bay of Seine is exposed to numerous anthropogenic disturbances, in particular major changes in sediment dynamics, which are expected to greatly impact benthic communities. To assess the long-term effects of these stressors on the muddy fine sand benthic community, an original long-term monitoring program has been implemented since 1988. It is based on the sampling of a network of 60 stations during seven surveys over 28 years from 1988 to 2016. We investigate changes of species density, species composition and species diversity at different scales (α-diversity, β-diversity and γ-diversity). Contrary to results obtained in many coastal areas, our results showed a long-term persistence of the community in terms of species composition and structure although a general shift towards muddy sediment has resulted in increased colonisation by species associated with muddy habitats and a decrease in spatial beta diversity.This article reviews how objects can serve as indicators of one's identity and signals of important life events. Objects carry both personal and social meaning, and ownership or usage increases the linkage between the object and the self. Owned objects are valued more due to their linkage with the (positively viewed) self. Similarly, self-views can assimilate to the associations of the owned or used object. We rely on the insights of consistency theories (e.g. Balance Theory) to provide a unifying umbrella for the literature, and we review how the acquisition and abandonment of objects can shape self-views, affect task performance, and serve as inward and outward signals of group membership.It has long been argued that people become attached to objects because objects help people to define, reflect, and communicate the self. In this article we consider whether objects not only help to 'know thyself' but also to 'fuel thyself'. In other words, whether objects can contribute to self-regulation. We review past research to consider whether the functional and symbolic aspects of objects are found to promote self-regulation through enhanced recognition of and commitment to standards, monitoring, and capacity to change. We conclude by considering that people need to regulate their relationship with objects, in part because objects can successfully help people achieve basic needs. In this way, failure to regulate one's relationship to objects can contribute to problematic outcomes such as neglect, obesity, hoarding, and addiction.Diclofenac (DCF), a persistent pharmaceutical micropollutant which occurs in the ecosystems causing adverse effects on aquatic as well as terrestrial organisms. In this study, magnetic sawdust (MSD) was prepared using co-precipitation method for biosorptive removal of DCF from water. The MSD was characterized using various analytical techniques like microscopic and spectroscopic analysis. Magnetometer study confirms the ferromagnetic behavior of the biosorbent which is a key advantage in the separation of MSD after biosorption. The effect of experimental parameters was optimized in batch mode with evaluated maximum efficiency of 86.12 % at pH 6, biosorbent dosage 25 mg for 50 mg/L of DCF. Ecotoxicological assessment has been performed for the treated and untreated sample using plant seeds, microbes and zebra fish to check the adverse effects of DCF on these organisms. Evaluation of toxicity studies revealed that inhibition concentration of DCF for various seeds (60.91 mg/L to 43.11 mg/L), E. coli (48.82 μg/mL) and B. subtilis (31.55 μg/mL). The lethal concentration of DCF on the Danio rerio was found to be 156.99 mg/L. In contrast, significant increase in both the concentration measures of DCF after biosorption was observed making this biosorbent a potent alternative to other available treatment measures.Since its recognition in December 2019, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by SARS-CoV-2 has rapidly spread globally causing a pandemic that represents the greatest medical challenge in decades. The aim of the study was to evaluate the spectrum of cardiopulmonary pathology of COVID-19 based on (non-minimal invasive) autopsies performed on 14 COVID-19 decedents. Bilateral diffuse alveolar damage (DAD) was found in all patients. Superimposed acute bronchopneumonia was present in 11 of 14 (78.6%) patients and was considered the major cause of death in 2 patients.
