Long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) AC026904.1 has been confirmed to be necessary for breast cancer metastasis. This work aims to investigate the effects of lncRNA AC026904.1 on lung cancer metastasis. This work firstly uncovers that AC026904.1 increases Slug expression at transcriptional level and subsequently plays critical effects in lung cancer metastasis, providing novel evidences that AC026904.1 holds great potential to be used as a marker for metastatic lung cancer. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.Current photocatalytic semiconductors often have low catalytic performance due to limited light utilization and fast charge carrier recombination. Formation of Schottky junction between semiconductors and plasmonic metals can broaden the light absorption and facilitate the photon-generated carriers separation. To further amplify the catalytic performance, herein, an asymmetric gold-zinc oxide (Asy-Au-ZnO) nanorod array is rationally designed, which realizes the synergy of piezocatalysis and photocatalysis, as well as spatially oriented electron-hole pairs separation, generating a significantly enhanced catalytic performance. In addition to conventional properties from noble metal/semiconductor Schottky junction, the rationally designed heterostructure has several additional advantages 1) The piezoelectric ZnO under light and mechanical stress can directly generate charge carriers; 2) the Schottky barrier can be reduced by ZnO piezopotential to enhance the injection efficiency of hot electrons from Au nanoparticles to ZnO; 3) the unique asymmetric nanorod array structure can achieve a spatially directed separation and migration of the photon-generated carriers. When ultrasound and all-spectrum light irradiation are exerted simultaneously, the Asy-Au-ZnO reaches the highest catalytic efficiency of 95% in 75 min for dye degradation. KGaA, Weinheim.Here, the photocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction (CO2 RR) with the selectivity of carbon products up to 100% is realized by completely suppressing the H2 evolution reaction under visible light (λ > 420 nm) irradiation. To target this, plasmonic Au/CdSe dumbbell nanorods enhance light harvesting and produce a plasmon-enhanced charge-rich environment; peripheral Cu2 O provides rich active sites for CO2 reduction and suppresses the hydrogen generation to improve the selectivity of carbon products. The middle CdSe serves as a bridge to transfer the photocharges. Based on synthesizing these Au/CdSe-Cu2 O hierarchical nanostructures (HNSs), efficient photoinduced electron/hole (e- /h+ ) separation and 100% of CO selectivity can be realized. Also, the 2e- /2H+ products of CO can be further enhanced and hydrogenated to effectively complete 8e- /8H+ reduction of CO2 to methane (CH4 ), where a sufficient CO concentration and the proton provided by H2 O reduction are indispensable. KGaA, Weinheim.Leukemia is one of the major diseases causing cancer-related deaths in the young population, and its cure rate is unsatisfying with side effects on patients. Fluorouracil (5-FU) is currently used as an anticancer drug for leukemia patients. 2-NBDG cost Casticin, a natural polymethoxyflavone, exerts anticancer activity against many human cancer cell lines in vitro, but no other reports show 5-FU combined with casticin increased the mouse leukemia cell apoptosis in vitro. Herein, the antileukemia activity of 5-FU combined with casticin in WEHI-3 mouse leukemia cells was investigated in vitro. Treatment of two-drug combination had a higher decrease in cell viability and a higher increase in apoptotic cell death, the level of DNA condensation, and the length of comet tail than that of 5-FU or casticin treatment alone in WEHI-3 cells. In addition, the two-drug combination has a greater production rate of reactive oxygen species but a lower level of Ca2+ release and mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm ) than that of 5-FU alone. Combined drugs also induced higher caspase-3 and caspase-8 activities than that of casticin alone and higher caspase-9 activity than that of 5-FU or casticin alone at 48 hours treatment. Furthermore, 5-FU combined with casticin has a higher expression of Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD [Cu/Zn]) and lower catalase than that of 5-FU or casticin treatment alone. The combined treatment has higher levels of Bax, Endo G, and cytochrome C of proapoptotic proteins than that of casticin alone and induced lower levels of B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) and BCL-X of antiapoptotic proteins than that of 5-FU or casticin only. Furthermore, the combined treatment had a higher expression of cleaved poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) than that of casticin only. Based on these findings, we may suggest that 5-FU combined with casticin treatment increased apoptotic cell death in WEHI-3 mouse leukemia cells that may undergo mitochondria and caspases signaling pathways in vitro. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.OBJECTIVE It was previously shown that HLA-B27 subtypes predisposing to spondyloarthritis (SpA), i.e. B*2702, B*2705 and B*2707, displayed increased propensity to form intra-cellular oligomers and to accumulate to a high density in cytoplasmic vesicles, as compared to the non-SpA-associated HLA-B*0702 and HLA-B*2706. The aim of the present study was to characterize the nature and content of HLA-B-containing vesicles and to further examine their relevance to SpA predisposition. METHOD Vesicles containing HLA-B proteins were evidenced in transfected HeLa cells and in cells from SpA patients or HLA-B27/human β2-microglobulin (hβ2m) transgenic rats, by means of microscopy. Nature and content of HLA-B-containing vesicles were determined by co-localisation experiments with appropriate markers. RESULTS The SpA-associated HLA-B*2704 subtype accumulated at higher levels in cytoplasmic vesicles than HLA-B*2706 from which it differs only by two substitutions, reinforcing the correlation between vesicles formation and SpA predisposition (P less then 10-5 ).
