Variation in practice in relation to indications and timing for both induction of labour (IOL) and planned caesarean section (CS) clearly exists. However, the extent of this variation, and how this variation is explained by clinicians remains unclear. The aim of this study was to map the variation in IOL and planned CS at eight Australian hospitals, and understand why variation occurs from the perspective of clinicians at these hospitals. Our ultimate aim was to identify opportunities for improvement as evidenced by hospital data, clinician experiences, and feedback.
A two-phased mixed method study using sequential explanatory study design. The first phase consisted of an analysis of routinely collected patient data to map variation between hospitals. The second phase consisted of focus groups with clinicians to gain their perspectives on the reasons for variation.

After optimization, an enzyme linked-immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was established with an 50% inhibition concentration of 0.25 ng mL-1 for HBH, which could ensure the direct detection of HBH without derivatization. The limit of detection of the ELISA for HBH was 0.12 µg kg-1 with the recoveries of 90.1-96.2% and coefficient of variation (CV) values lower than 9.1%. In conclusion, we produced several high affinity antibodies to HBH with new designed hapten and developed an icELISA for the direct detection of HBH without derivatization in chicken.
Previous studies developed artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostic systems only using eligible slit-lamp images for detecting corneal diseases. However, images of ineligible quality (including poor-field, defocused, and poor-location images), which are inevitable in the real world, can cause diagnostic information loss and thus affect downstream AI-based image analysis. Manual evaluation for the eligibility of slit-lamp images often requires an ophthalmologist, and this procedure can be time-consuming and labor-intensive when applied on a large scale. Here, we aimed to develop a deep learning-based image quality control system (DLIQCS) to automatically detect and filter out ineligible slit-lamp images (poor-field, defocused, and poor-location images).
We developed and externally evaluated the DLIQCS based on 48,530 slit-lamp images (19,890 individuals) that were derived from 4 independent institutions using different types of digital slit lamp cameras. Our DLIQCS can accurately detect poor-field, defocused, poor-location, and eligible slit-lamp images in an automated fashion. Tachycardia > 120/min was the most discriminating factor associated with the occurrence of relaparotomy for IAH (84 %). In the absence of tachycardia, hypotension < 90 mmHg was the second most discriminant factor for IAH (73 %).

To measure serum levels of podocalyxin (PODXL) in recurrent miscarriages as a marker of vascular endothelial dysfunction.
In this case-control study, women who were hospitalized for singleton first-trimester pregnancy terminations due to missed abortion, anembryonic pregnancy, and inevitable abortion were included. There were 24 patients who were admitted for the first pregnancy termination, 39 patients who were admitted for recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL), and 25 fetal cardiac activity positive patients as the control group. Demographic features, medical and obstetric histories were recorded. The measurements of serum PODXL were done by a human enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit.
