and 2019 lowered average fine particle concentrations in New York City by a factor of two. Secondary organic aerosol concentrations declined as sulfate decreased but increased non-significantly with rising ozone. Cleaner mobile-source emissions lowered elemental and organic carbon concentrations. Opportunities for further reductions of PM2.5 concentrations include biomass burning and photochemical secondary aerosol. The Index of Attitudes toward Homosexuals (IAH) was published by Hudson and Ricketts in 1980 as a unidimensional index to measure affective responses to homosexuals. Siebert et al. identified two factors in a sample of predominantly female social science students Cognitive/Social Distance (α = .91) and Affective/Attraction-Advances (α = .79). The present study sought to conduct a factor analysis to confirm the factor structure of the IAH in a national sample of oncology clinicians (n = 406). Exploratory factor analysis conducted on a random subset of 40% of survey respondents (n = 163) indicated three factors, termed Avoidance (α = .92), Approach (α = .75) and Acceptance (α = .80). Confirmatory factor analysis conducted on the remaining 60% of respondents (n = 243) confirmed the three-factor structure (final Chi-square/DF = 1.988, RMSEA = 0.064, Bentler CFI = 0.949). Given the diversity, size, and strength of the sampling frame, future research using the IAH in clinical settings can obtain more precise findings by analyzing data according to these three factors.
This study was performed to explore the possible beneficial effects of vitexin on high glucose (HG)-induced cytotoxicity in pancreatic β-cells.
INS-1 pancreatic β-cell line has used this study. HG-induced (33 Mm) exposed INS-1 cell death; the apoptosis INS-1 cells treated vitexin 10, 20, 40, and 80 µg/mL for 24 hours. The anti-apoptosis properties were evaluated by MTT assay, glucose-stimulated insulin secretion assay, biochemical assay, annexin-V-FITC staining and western blot analysis.
These findings demonstrate that vitexin treatment improved the HG-exposure, reduced the INS-1 cell viability and significantly enhanced glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in a dose-dependent manner. The antioxidant studies revealed that vitexin treatment significantly decreased lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species and increased antioxidant level of INS-1 cell line in 24 hrs. The findings of the study suggested that in the vitexin treatment group, pancreatic apoptosis and Bax protein expression reduced significantly. At the same time, Bcl-2 protein expression increased, and NF-κB protein in HG-induced INS-cells was inhibited.
Therefore, our results suggest that vitexin can be successfully used to regulate the expression of Bcl-2 family proteins, reduce lipid peroxidation and to improve the secretion of antioxidants in pancreatic β-cell lines.

These beetles live in obligate symbioses with fungi in the genus Fusarium. In this study, we identified Euwallacea spp. and their fungal mutualists that have emerged as pests of planted Acacia crassicarpa in Riau, Indonesia. Morphological identification and phylogenetic analyses of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase c subunit I (COI) gene confirmed that E. similis and E. perbrevis are the most abundant beetles infesting these trees. Multilocus phylogenetic analyses of their fungal mutualists revealed their nonspecific association with six Fusarium species. These included F. rekanum and five novel Fusarium mutualists within the Fusarium solani species complex (FSSC), four of which reside in the Ambrosia Fusarium Clade (AFC). These new species are described here as F. akasia, F. awan, F. mekan, F. variasi, and F. warna. The working experience for those in the sexual minority is not well understood, particularly with respect to interpersonal mistreatment based on sexual orientation. This study breaks new ground by utilizing a sample of 416 LGB working adults to assess the relative usefulness of two bullying measures (the Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised (Person-Related) and the Homophobic Bullying Scale) to determine their convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity in predicting organizational commitment, turnover, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Results show that discriminant and convergent validity exist between these scales and both measure similar levels of perceived bullying (from the victim's perspective). We concluded that although there are similarities and differences between these measures, more research is needed to determine the most appropriate instrument to assess perceived bullying in a sexual minority population. Several areas for subsequent research are noted. We describe two new Japanese truffle species, Tuber iryudaense and Tuber tomentosum, based on molecular and morphological analyses. Both species are clearly distinguishable from other Tuber species by the ocher tomentose mycelium covering the ascoma surfaces. SBC-115076 Tuber iryudaense has one-spored asci that each contain a large (68-97 × 51-80 µm), reddish-brown ascospore; these microscopic characters are similar to those of closely related Chinese species, T. calosporum, T. gigantosporum, T. glabrum, T. monosporum, and T. sinomonosporum. Tuber tomentosum forms one to four ascospores per ascus with a reddish-brown color similar to that of ascospores of T. macrosporum and T. canaliculatum, although their spores are much larger than those of T. tomentosum (27‒64 × 26‒55 µm). Molecular phylogenetic analyses based on ribosomal internal transcribed spacer and partial 28S nuc rDNA sequences support that both species are distinct within the Macrosporum group.
According to consensus guidelines, if eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is suspected, not only esophageal but also gastric and duodenal biopsy specimens should be sampled in order to exclude other generalized or eosinophilic gastrointestinal (GI) disorders, such as eosinophilic gastroenteritis or celiac disease. However, the diagnostic yield for this remains unclear.
To assess the diagnostic yield of biopsy sampling from the stomach and duodenum in adult EoE patients to rule out generalized or eosinophilic GI disorders.
A retrospective chart-review was conducted in untreated adult EoE patients that underwent upper endoscopy with biopsies sampled from the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. Standardized (electronic) case-report forms were used to extract clinical, endoscopic and histologic data.
In total, 93 adults (71% males, age 36.4 (interquartile range 28.4 - 49.1) years) with untreated EoE (≥15 eosinophils/high-power-field) were included. Symptoms of dysphagia and food impaction were reported in 93% and 58%, respectively of the patients.
