Partnering with supermarkets to accept fruit and vegetable incentives is a unique strategy to increase produce purchasing that can be adopted by other localities. Strategies to improve the community food environment have been recommended for addressing childhood obesity, but evidence substantiating their effectiveness is limited.

Our aim was to examine the impact of changes in availability of key features of the community food environment, such as supermarkets, small grocery stores, convenience stores, upgraded convenience stores, pharmacies, and limited service restaurants, on changes in children's body mass index z scores (zBMIs).

We conducted a longitudinal cohort study.

Two cohorts of 3- to 15-year-old children living in 4 low-income New Jersey cities were followed during 2- to 5-year periods from 2009 through 2017. Data on weight status were collected at 2 time points (T1 and T2) from each cohort; data on food outlets in the 4 cities and within a 1-mile buffer around each city were collected multiple times between T1 and T2.

We measured change in children's zBMIs between T1 and T2.

Changes in the food environment were conceptualized as exposure to chanBMI change category at T2. No consistent patterns were observed for changes in exposure to supermarkets, limited service restaurants, or pharmacies.

Increased availability of small grocery stores near children's homes may improve children's weight status, whereas increased availability of convenience stores is likely to be detrimental.

Alpha zone is present in almost all eyes. Beta zone is associated with glaucoma and may develop due to a IOP rise-dependent parapapillary up-piling of RPE. Gamma zone may develop due to a shift of the non-enlarged BM opening (BMO) in moderate myopia, while in highly myopic eyes, the BMO enlarges and a circular gamma zone and delta zone develop. The ophthalmoscopic shape and size of the optic disc is markedly influenced by a myopic shift of BMO, usually into the temporal direction, leading to a BM overhanging into the intrapapillary compartment at the nasal disc border, a secondary lack of BM in the temporal parapapillary region (leading to gamma zone in non-highly myopic eyes), and an ocular optic nerve canal running obliquely from centrally posteriorly to nasally anteriorly. In highly myopic eyes (cut-off for high myopia at approximately -8 diopters or an axial length of 26.5 mm), the optic disc area enlarges, the lamina cribrosa thus enlarges in area and decreases in thickness, and the BMO increases, leading to a circular gamma zone and delta zone in highly myopic eyes.
Presence of multimodal brain graphs derived from different neuroimaging modalities is inarguably one of the most critical challenges in building unified classification models that can be trained and tested on any brain graph regardless of its size and the modality it was derived from.

One solution is to learn a model for each modality independently, which is cumbersome and becomes more time-consuming as the number of modalities increases. Another traditional solution is to build a model inputting multimodal brain graphs for the target prediction task; however, this is only applicable to datasets where all samples have joint neuro-modalities.

In this paper, we propose to build a unified brain graph classification model trained on unpaired multimodal brain graphs, which can classify any brain graph of any size. This is enabled by incorporating a graph alignment step where all multi-modal graphs of different sizes and heterogeneous distributions are mapped to a common template graph. Next, we design a graph alignment strategy to the target fixed-size template and further apply linear discriminant analysis (LDA) to the aligned graphs as a supervised dimensionality reduction technique for the target classification task.

We tested our method on unpaired autistic and healthy brain connectomes derived from functional and morphological MRI datasets (two modalities).

Our results showed that our unified model method not only has great promise in solving such a challenging problem but achieves comparable performance to models trained on each modality independently.

21-hydroxylase deficiency (21-OHD) is the most common form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). In adulthood, most studies are reported in females. By contrast, data on adult males are scarce.

To describe a series of adult males with classic 21-OHD and to assess the presence of adrenal masses and testicular adrenal rest tumors (TARTs).

Eight males (21-42 years) were included. We evaluated clinical presentation, 17-Hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP), Testosterone (T), Δ4Androstenedione (Δ4A) ACTH, LH, FSH and plasma renin activitiy (PRA) levels at consultation. selleck inhibitor Molecular studies of the CYP21A2 gene, testicular ultrasound (US), semen analysis and adrenal computed tomography (CT) scan were performed. Treatment and compliance were assessed.

Basal 17-OHP levels were >20ng/ml in all patients. At consultation, median 17OH-P was 11.5 (2.3-81) ng/ml, FSH 3 (0.3-4) mUI/ml, LH 1.1 (0.1-6) mUI/ml, T 4.3 (1.7-8) ng/ml, Δ4A 5.7 (1.4-16) ng/ml, ACTH 86.4 (76-334) pg/ml, PRA 9.5 (1.3-23.6) ng/ml/h. Semen analysis was performed in 5/8 patients, showing azoospermia in two.
