A new genus and three new species of cave-adapted ground beetles are reported from the limestone cave Shenxian Dong in Huangshan Shi, southeastern Anhui Province, China. Shenoblemus gen. nov. is proposed to place the anophthalmic trechine species S. minusculus sp. nov. This genus is characterized by the tiny but stout body, sub-moniliform antennae, serrated elytral margins near the base, and a wide distance between the fifth and sixth pores of the marginal umbilicate series on the elytra. In addition, two new species, Wanoblemus huangshanicus sp. nov. (an anophthalmic trechine) and Jujiroa inexpectata sp. nov. (a microphthalmic platynine), are also described and illustrated from the same cave. Jie Fang, Wenbo Li, Xinhui Wang, Mingyi Tian.A faunistic and ecological survey was conducted to document the diversity of freshwater atyid shrimps of Dawanshan Island. Two species of Caridina that occur on this island were documented and discussed. One of these, Caridina tetrazona sp. nov. is described and illustrated as new to science. It can be easily distinguished from its congeners based on a combination of characters, which includes a short rostrum, the shape of the endopod of the male first pleopod, the segmental ratios of antennular peduncle and third maxilliped, the slender scaphocerite, and the absence of a median projection on the posterior margin. Live individuals of the new species display a unique coloration pattern with four dark blue transverse bands on the body, and can be easily recognized in the field. So far, despite considerable surveying efforts made on neighboring islands, this species has only been found from a small stream on Dawanshan Island, which suggests that it may have a very limited range, probably endemic to Dawanshan Island. Molecular characteristics of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) demonstrate that this species shows sufficient interspecific divergence from its congeners, including C. serrata Stimpson, 1860, which was found in four streams on Dawanshan Island, and has been previously reported on the neighboring islands of Hong Kong, Dong'ao, Wailingding, and Guishan. Qing-Hua Chen, Wen-Jian Chen, Xiao-Zhuang Zheng, Zhao-Liang Guo.Re-examination of the holotype and paratype of Sphaerillo boninensis Nunomura, 1990 from Chichijima Island of the Ogasawara archipelago, which is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, indicates that this species is a junior synonym of a pantropical species, Venezillo parvus (Budde-Lund, 1885). Shigenori Karasawa.Home visiting is a widely supported intervention strategy for parents of young children who are in need of parenting skill improvement. However, parental engagement limits the potential public health impact of home visiting, as these programs often have low enrollment rates, as well as high attrition and low completion rates for those who enroll in these programs. The Coalition for Research on Engagement and Well-being (CREW) provided support for three pilot projects representing different home visiting models and aspects of engagement. The results of these pilot projects are presented in this special section. The purpose of this commentary is to introduce CREW and highlight the importance of a cross-model project to improve engagement among home visiting programs. Objective The aim of this study was to describe and evaluate the safety of hepatic resections for ovarian cancer liver metastases and the benefit in terms of survival as part of cytoreductive surgery among peritoneal seeding and parenchymal metastases. Materials and Methods Data were reviewed retrospectively from patients who underwent liver resection as part of cytoreductive surgery for ovarian cancer at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Neoplásicas, in Lima, Perú, from January 2009 to December 2017. Results From January 2009 to December 2017, 1211 patients underwent surgical cytoreduction for ovarian cancer; 39 of these patients had liver resection as part of their surgical treatment, with 9, 17, and 13 patients receiving primary, secondary, and tertiary, resections, respectively. The mean age of the patients was 46, the majority (87%) had stage III/IV ovarian cancer. In addition, 21 patients had parenchymal metastasis resections, and 95% of the patients had Dindo-Clavien I and II grade complications. The 30-day mortality rate was 0. Conclusions Liver resection for advanced ovarian cancer is a safe procedure for primary up to quaternary cytoreduction and may confer survival benefits to patients. © Jorge Luna-Abanto et al. 2020; Published by Mary Ann Liebert, Inc.The novel coronavirus (Covid-19) infection outbreak has posed a major threat to international health system and economy. This study is aimed at investigating the biological and epidemiological trends in the prevalence and mortality due to outbreaks of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infections. The data on the global outbreak of COVID-19, were obtained from World Health Organization (WHO), Worldometer, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and research institutes. The information was also recorded from research documents published in global scientific journals indexed in Pub Med and Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) Web of Science on the trends in the prevalence and mortality due to COVID-19 infection outbreaks. The results show rising trends in the transmission, prevalence and mortality rate due to coronavirus COVID-19. During the period of December 29, 2019 through March 31, 2020, it has infected 750890 people worldwide, resulting in 36405 deaths with a mortality rate of 4.84%. The infections were more frequent among male gender with above 60 years of age.
