Among all tested EOs , Eugenia caryophyllus , Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume and Thymus satureioides Cosson showed high antioxidant activities at the concentration of 25 mg/mL , with several values of ( 86 % , 81 % , and 76 % ) , and stiff antibacterial action against Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Escherichia coli , Staphylococcus aureus , and Enterococcus hirae , with ( MIC ) valuates ≤ 4 µL/mL . At the concentration of 1 µL/mL , these EOs examined alone , showed values of antibiofilm-forming activity ranging from 79 to 99 % and from 44 to 94 % , when they are adsorbed onto chitosan film . These hopeful resolutions affirm that these three EOs have a good potentiality for an eventual coating in the food industry , as antimicrobic and antioxidant agents , or as combat-ready biodegradable food packaging , if combined with chitosan.Activated carbon-chitosan based adsorbent for the effective removal of the issuing contaminant diclofenac : Synthesis , characterization and phytotoxicity studies.The rise in pharmaceutical pollutants due to their unregulated venting in pharmaceutical wastewater has landed them as emerging contaminants that would gradually touch the aquatic ecosystem and human life .
The current field punctuates the adsorptive elimination of one such issuing pharmaceutical pollutant , i.e. , Diclofenac ( DIF ) , using a synthesized adsorbent vis . Freundlich isotherm model designated the best fit ( R ( 2 ) = 0 ) with the observational data to conclude that the adsorbent aerofoil is heterogenous , promoting multilayer adsorption . As limned from the Langmuir isotherm simulation , the maximum theoretic adsorption capacity was 99 mg/g .
