The determination of sex is as a keystone in the identification. The skull is considered the second-best mark of gender determination. However in cases where a complete dry skull is not found, the mandible may play an important role in gender estimation as it is the most dimorphic, largest, and strongest bone of the skull. Studies showed cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) found better than traditional methods. The using of CBCT device can obtain undistorted and good-quality 3D images with a low radiation dose.In this study, it was purposed to measure the morphometric parameters of the 3D mandible models in the Central Anatolian Turkish population and to evaluate the effectiveness of measurements in gender determination.

The study was consisted of 70 individuals (35 males, 35 females; mean age 24,69±2,85 years). Linear parameters were measured in mm using the mouse-driven method. The measurements were recorded from the both of right and left side. Acquired measurements between groups were evaluated with Student t-test.

In the present study five different parameters of mandible were measured and mean values were determined. It was found that all variable of mandibular ramus on CBCT models showed a statistically significant difference among the sex (p<0.05).

Mandibular ramus measurements can be useful tool for sex determination. These results propose that the mandible describes sexual dimorphism in the modern adult Central Anatolian Turkish population. However further studies with larger populations are needed to reveal this relation.

Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a potentially malignant disorder with a high rate of malignant transformation. It is associated with chewing of areca nut and tobacco products with a high global prevalence, particularly in the southeast Asian countries. A wide range of treatment modalities are available, ranging from corticosteroids, antioxidants, nutritional supplements to herbal medicines but lacks a reliable treatment regimen.

This systematic review will comprehensively analyze the medicinal treatment for OSMF from 2011 to 2020, apprise the literature with new clinical studies, and initiate a discussion about other potential medicines.

A comprehensive electronic search was conducted in Pubmed, Scopus, and other databases from January 2011 to June 2020 according to the PRISMA guidelines, to identify all the clinical studies for the medicinal management of OSMF with definite keywords and defined criteria.

Among the thirty-two included clinical studies 23 were randomized controlled studies and 9 werethe efficacy of various medicinal formulations in conjunction with physiotherapy in the management of OSMF.Cohort studies are the best way to analyze the incidence and natural history of a disorder, permitting to assess associations between multiple exposures and multiple outcomes. A well-designed cohort may be particularly relevant regarding the study of the ageing processes of adult populations, allowing the study of processes and dynamics of the individual life course and the study of the effects of earlier exposures and characteristics on later outcomes. Moreover, cohort studies seem the best instrument to analyze the factors favoring active and healthy ageing, and to increase knowledge about the most appropriate interventions to enhance older population's wellness. Nonetheless, the number of cohorts on ageing is limited, because they are very expensive to develop, establish, and maintain, requiring long-term investment to be efficiently performed to obtain all the data needed to address the longitudinal research questions. Open data and data sharing should be encouraged to ensure verifiable, reproducible and transparent results, and to allow the generation of new knowledge in the context of earlier discoveries. Making cohort studies "open" can foster the efforts of the scientific community committed in the study of ageing and give a real contribution to the well-being of the ageing population. We used data from a population-based case-control study of prostate cancer conducted in Montreal, Canada in 2005-2012. It included men aged ≤ 75 years, 1872 of which were newly diagnosed with prostate cancer, and 1918 others randomly selected from the electoral list. In-person interviews elicited reports of height as well as of weight, pants size and Stunkard's silhouette at 5 time points over adulthood, i.e., for the ages of 20, 40, 50 and 60 years, if applicable, and at the time of interview. Waist and hip circumferences were measured by interviewers following a validated protocol. Analyses were conducted on the overall sample of 3790 subjects, after having confirmed that results did not differ according to disease status.
