Ranking System & Division
Ranking System
Created by the 10 Modern Gods (children of the two Ancient Gods), the Ranking System is a framework designed to evaluate the strength, power, and limits of both Mortals and Monsters. The system helps Mortals gauge the capabilities of Monsters, providing essential data to minimize risks and casualties by ensuring appropriate responses. The ranks range from the lowest, Rank G, to the highest, Rank TS (Triple S), a level virtually unattainable.
The 10 ranks are listed below, from highest to lowest:
Rank TS (Triple S): The pinnacle of power, representing a level of strength considered ultimately impossible to achieve.
Rank DS (Double S): An extraordinarily rare rank, reached by only a handful of mortals; virtually unreachable for most Adventurers.
Rank S: A highly prestigious rank, difficult to attain and exceedingly rare even for seasoned Adventurers.
Rank A: A high rank, challenging to achieve but not impossible for skilled and dedicated individuals.
Rank B: A respected rank, typically attained by experienced Adventurers.
Rank C: The most common rank, widely held by Adventurers and representing a solid level of competence.
Rank D: Considered average or standard, commonly seen among less experienced individuals.
Rank E: Below average, typically signifying a less skilled or weaker individual.
Rank F: The second lowest rank, often assigned to those lacking significant power.
Rank G: The lowest rank, often given to those just awakening or with minimal power, though still better than no rank at all.
When blessed by the Gods, Mortals have the potential to awaken with a certain rank, but no one is born awakened as Rank DS or Rank TS. The highest possible rank one can achieve upon awakening is Rank S, though this is extraordinarily rare. Most Mortals awaken between Rank D and Rank A, with some falling below Rank D.
To rank up, Adventurers must earn ranking points through their actions and achievements. Ranking points can be earned at places like the Transcendence Academia or various Guilds, though these points are tracked separately in each organization.
- The lower the rank, the fewer ranking points are required to level up and the faster an Adventurer can ascend.
- The higher the rank, the more ranking points are needed, making the progression much slower and more arduous.
Ranking Divisions & Rank Tags
The ranks are further categorized into five Divisions, each represented by a metal, ranking from the highest to the lowest:
Diamond Division: The elite division, containing only Rank TS.
Platinum Division: This division includes Rank DS and Rank S, representing individuals of extraordinary strength.
Gold Division: Includes Rank A and Rank B, featuring skilled and experienced individuals.
Silver Division: Represents Rank C and Rank D, the most common ranks among Adventurers.
Bronze Division: The lowest division, containing Rank E, Rank F, and Rank G, generally including those with lesser power.
The Ranking Division system is introduced once an Adventurer has officially registered in a Guild. Each Adventurer is given a Rank Tag that shows their name, class, rank, division, and the number of stars associated with their current rank within that division.
Each division is marked by distinct Rank Tags, which correspond to their rank and position within the system:
Diamond Tags: Only for Rank TS and marked with one star.
Platinum Tags: Includes Rank DS (with two stars) and Rank S (with one star).
Gold Tags: Includes Rank A (with two stars) and Rank B (with one star).
Silver Tags: Includes Rank C (with two stars) and Rank D (with one star).
Bronze Tags: Includes Rank E (with three stars), Rank F (with two stars), and Rank G (with one star).
As an Adventurer progresses to a higher rank and division (e.g., from Rank C to Rank B), their Rank Tag is updated to reflect their new rank and division, replacing the older tag.
[FEEDBACK FROM CHATGPT]
The Ranking System you've developed is clear, structured, and offers a comprehensive way to measure both mortal and monster power. It establishes a strong foundation for progression and status, which adds depth to the world-building. Here are a few points I think are great about the system:
Clear Progression: The system effectively showcases the journey of an Adventurer as they move up the ranks. The gradual increase in difficulty for ranking up at higher levels adds a sense of challenge and accomplishment, especially when paired with the concept of ranking points.
Universality: This system applies to both Mortals and Monsters, making it versatile for character development and world interactions. This kind of universal scale helps players or readers understand where they stand in relation to each other, and it works as a tool for managing expectations.
Realistic Awakening: The idea that most mortals awaken between Rank D and Rank A, with Rank S being incredibly rare, adds a layer of realism. It highlights the rarity and challenge of achieving greatness while maintaining a sense of grounded progression for most characters.
Guild and Academia Ties: By tying the ranking process to guilds and academies, you create important institutions that give a sense of structure and purpose to the characters. This also introduces social dynamics, as ranks and tags become a visible way of judging one’s standing.
Ranking Division Structure: The Rank Tags system is visually distinct, allowing for easy recognition of a character's achievements. The division-based categorization adds clarity and organization to the ranking system, giving players and readers a way to visually track progress and status.
Incentivized Growth: The system incentivizes growth, with the lower ranks requiring fewer points to level up, which feels rewarding for players and characters. It gives them a sense of achievement in the early stages and makes them feel the weight of advancement as they reach higher ranks.
