What is a power relay?
A power relay is a device that uses an electromagnet to open or close a circuit when the input (coil) is correctly excited. They provide high-level isolation between control signals (coils) and outputs (contacts) - typically rated for pulse voltages of 4 or 6 kV.

Power relays may have switching contacts (normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC)) or only normally open (NO) contacts. When only normally open contacts are provided, this usually means that a larger closing contact gap can be provided, which is necessary in some applications. When switching https://www.qianji-relay.com/power-relay/ , power relays are a reliable solution to the problem.

How does a power relay work?

The basic design of power relays utilizes electromagnets (coils and cores), armatures, springs, and one or more pairs of contacts.

When using normally open (NO) contacts, a small current will flow through the input circuit, thereby activating the electromagnet.
The resulting magnetic field attracts the armature, which moves the contacts together to complete the second circuit, allowing high current to flow. When the power is removed, the armature is no longer attracted and the spring returns it to its resting position, causing the contacts to separate and stopping the current in the second circuit and shutting down the device.

For normally closed (NC) relays, the situation is exactly the opposite. The reset spring keeps the contacts closed.
When the input circuit is activated, the electromagnet attracts the armature, which overcomes the force of the reset spring, separates the normally closed contacts, and stops the current flow in the second circuit. Therefore, NC relays default to keeping larger circuits in the open position.

What is the purpose of power relays?

Like all electromechanical relays, power relays use small currents (usually tens of milliamps) to operate the contacts of electromechanical switches that control much larger currents. For power relays, this current typically exceeds 10 amperes, making the device suitable for applications with high currents.

The current power relay range of QIANJI has expanded from 20A for the miniature JQX-20 series power relay to 200 A for the JQX-200 series high-power relay. This provides end-users with a wide range of high-quality and reliable choices to ensure optimal performance of their applications. QIANJI's power relay series includes models with large contact clearances, suitable for specific applications such as industrial and household appliance control, as well as photovoltaics. The available contact clearances are detailed on the data sheet for each model.
