Intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) has been utilized not only for the rapid detection of neural insults during surgeries, but also to verify the neurophysiological integrity of nerve lesions in the surgical field.

A 32-year-old woman presented with a wrist and finger drop that had lasted about 3 months.

The result of the initial electrodiagnostic test was consistent with posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) syndrome. Ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging of the proximal forearm showed a cystic mass at the anterolateral aspect of the radial head, which was diagnosed as a ganglion cyst.

Surgical release of the ganglion cyst with IONM was performed. During the surgery, we induced nerve action potentials and compound motor action potentials across the ganglion cyst, which demonstrated neural continuity.

Three months after the surgery, the patient showed partial recovery of wrist and finger extensor muscle power. An electrodiagnostic test conducted 3 months after the surgery showed reinnervation potentials in PIN-innervated muscles.

The relationship between bone health and healthy lifestyles has been frequently discussed. The present study focuses on the relationship between bone health and healthy lifestyles among older adults, based on a global comparison.

This narrative review was performed by collecting clinical trials, basic research and reviews on lifestyle and bone health in PubMed database.

Positive effects of physical activity and negative effects of malnutrition, alcohol abuse, and cigarette smoking on bone health were revealed. The relationship between bone health and drinking coffee and tea is still inconclusive. Moreover, the diversity of each region should be aware when considering healthy lifestyles to improve bone health.

We investigated the predictive value of the soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase-1 (sFlt-1)-to-placental growth factor (PlGF) ratio for poor neonatal outcomes of SGA neonates in the absence of preeclampsia.This prospective cohort study included 530 singleton pregnant women who attended a prenatal screening program at a single institution. The sFlt-1/PlGF values at 24 to 28+6 weeks and 29 to 36+6 weeks of gestation were analyzed and compared between control and SGA group (subdivided as with normal neonatal outcomes and with poor neonatal outcomes).After 22 preeclampsia cases were excluded, 47 SGA neonates and 461 control neonates were included. In the SGA group, 17 neonates had adverse neonatal outcomes (36.1%, 17/47). The mean (±D) sFlt-1/PlGF ratio of early third trimester was significantly higher in SGA with averse neonatal outcome group than in the control group (14.42 ± 23.8 vs 109.12 3.96, P = .041) and the ratio retained an independent and significant association with SGA with adverse neonatal outcomes (o and with poor neonatal outcomes).After 22 preeclampsia cases were excluded, 47 SGA neonates and 461 control neonates were included. Bioactive compounds, given their anti-inflammatory properties, are a safe and promising alternative in controlling the inflammatory condition of obesity. This study describes a systematic review protocol aiming to analyze the anti-inflammatory molecules mechanisms and compounds action on adipocytes.

Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Protocols (PRISMA-P) will outline the protocol and PRISMA to the systematic review. The databases used for research will be PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, Web of Science, BVS, and EMBASE. Experimental studies performed on rats and mice with a control group that describes treatment with anti-inflammatory agents (drugs, nutraceuticals, bio active compounds, among others) at any frequency, time, and dose will be included.
