[Current developments within studying pathogenesis regarding glaucoma].
Coronavirus pandemic has emerged as an extraordinary healthcare crisis in modern times. The SARS-CoV-2 novel coronavirus has high transmission rate, is more aggressive and virulent in comparison to previously known coronaviruses. It primarily attacks the respiratory system by inducing cytokine storm that causes systemic inflammation and pulmonary fibrosis. Decorin is a pluripotent molecule belonging to a leucine rich proteoglycan group that exerts critical role in extracellular matrix (ECM) assembly and regulates cell growth, adhesion, proliferation, inflammation, and fibrogenesis. find more Interestingly, decorin has potent anti-inflammatory, cytokine inhibitory, and anti-fibrillogenesis effects which make it a potential drug candidate against the COVID-19 related complications especially in the context of lung fibrosis. Herein, we postulate that owing to its distinctive pharmacological actions and immunomodulatory effect, decorin can be a promising preclinical therapeutic agent for the therapy of COVID-19.
This Phase 2 multicentre trial in localised non-gastric marginal zone lymphoma (MZL) evaluated the effectiveness and safety of radiotherapy and documented markers of autoimmunity and Helicobacter pylori infection.

Eligible patients had Stages I and IIor paired-organ, non-gastric MZL. Bone marrow evaluation, autoantibody panel, and H. pylorievaluation were mandatory. Involved-field or involved-siteradiotherapy was delivered to 24-30.6Gy. Detected H. pyloriinfections underwent eradication.

Between 2006 and 2014, six centres enrolled 70 patients, and 68 commenced treatment. The median age was 59 (range 23-84) years, and 31 (46%) were male. Overall, 55 patients had Stage I disease, nine patients had Stage II disease, and four patients had paired organ-confined disease. Involved extranodal sites with three or more cases were orbital (n=18), conjunctiva (n=13), lacrimal (n=8), skin (n=8), salivary (n=7), and muscle (n=4). Eight patients had primary nodal MZL. At the median follow-up of 5 years (range 0.7-9.4), progression-free survival and overall survival were 79% and 95%, respectively. One lymphoma-related death and two in-field failures (after 25 and 30Gy, respectively) occurred. Distant relapse sites were skin (n=2), lymph nodes (n=2), duodenum, stomach, muscle, and conjunctiva (1 each). No paired-organ MZL relapsed. Apart from cataracts (n=18), only three treatment-related late grade ≥3 adverse events occurred. Autoantibodies or autoimmune events were detected in 26 of 68 patients (38%). H. pyloriinfection was detected in 15 of 63 patients (24%) tested. Neither autoimmunity nor H. pyloriwas detected in 27 of 68 patients (40%).

Radiotherapy was a potentially curative treatment with low toxicity in localised non-gastric MZL. Autoimmunity, H. pyloriinfection or both were detected in 60% of patients.

Therein, anatase which is one of the most representative semiconducting minerals in marine euphotic zone was selected. The mineralogical characterization of anatase was identified by ESEM, AFM, EDS, Raman, XRD, and its semiconducting characteristics was determined by UV-Vis and Mott-Schottky plots. Determined by the electrochemical measurement of I-t curves, the photocurrent density of anatase was more prominent than dark current density. Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 was widely distributed in the euphotic zone, and its mutants of operons deficient in biosynthesis pyocyanin (Δphz1Δphz2) and pili deficient (ΔpilA) were employed in this study. I-t curves indicated that both direct and indirect extracellular electron transfer processes occurred between anatase and PAO1. The indirect electron transfer depending on pyocyanin secreted by PAO1 was the main electron transfer mode. This work demonstrated the light-driven extracellular electron transfer and further revealed the photo-catalyzed mechanisms between anatase and PAO1 in marine euphotic zone. The fundamental mechanisms of pulsed electric fields on biological cells are not yet fully elucidated, though it is apparent that membrane electroporation plays a crucial role. Little is known about treatment-chamber-specific effects, and systematic studies are scarce. Thus, the present study evaluates the (dis-)advantages of various treatment chamber designs for liquid applications at differing scales. Three chambers, namely parallel plate microfluidic (V̇ 0.1 ml/min; titanium electrodes), co-linear meso (V̇ 5.0 ml/min; stainless steel electrodes), and co-linear macro (V̇ 83.3 ml/min; stainless steel electrodes) chambers, were studied. Electroporation effects on Escherichia coli in media with 0.1-10.0 mS/cm were evaluated by plate counts and flow cytometry at 8, 16, and 20 kV/cm. For the microfluidic chamber, predominantly irreversible electroporation (2.5 logs10 reductions) was seen at 0.1 mS/cm, while high irreversible electroporation (4.2 logs10 reductions) at 10.0 mS/cm was observed for the macro chamber. The meso chamber indicated a similar trend towards increased conductivity, even though only low inactivation levels were present. Variation in conductivity and electrode configuration or area likely induces effects resulting in distinct electroporation levels, as observed for the micro and macro chamber. Suitable application scenarios, depending on targeted electroporation effects, were suggested.Accurate recurrence risk assessment in hormone receptor positive, HER2/neu negative breast cancer is critical to plan precise therapy. CanAssist Breast (CAB) assesses recurrence risk based on tumor biology using artificial intelligence-based approach. We report CAB risk assessment correlating with disease outcomes in multiple clinically high- and low-risk subgroups. In this retrospective cohort of 925 patients [median age-54 (22-86)] CAB had hazard ratio (HR) of 3 (1.83-5.21) and 2.5 (1.45-4.29), P = 0.0009) in univariate and multivariate analysis. CAB's HR in sub-groups with the other determinants of outcome, T2 (HR 2.79 (1.49-5.25), P = 0.0001); age [64% as low-risk. Thus, CAB prognostication was significant in women with clinically low- and high-risk disease. The data imply the use of CAB for providing helpful information to stratify tumors based on biology incorporated with clinical features for Indian patients, which can be extrapolated to regions with similarly characterized patients, South-East Asia.
