This paper uses the ORBIT model of obesity intervention development as a framework to outline the process of establishing three employer-based walking challenges in El Paso, Texas, a predominantly Mexican American community. The walking challenges were planned and implemented through the Border Coalition for Fitness and participating partnering organizations. Over 2000 participants and several employers took part in the walking challenges. The SNEDDS were developed using naturally obtained bioactive medium-chain/long-chain triglycerides oil, mixed glycerides and nonionic surfactants, and droplet size was measured followed by the test for antioxidant activities. Equilibrium solubility and dynamic dispersion experiments were conducted to achieve the maximum drug loading. The in vitro digestion, in vivo bioavailability, and anti-diabetic effects were studied to compare the representative SNEDDS with marketed product Dapazin®. The representative SNEDDS containing black seed oil showed excellent self-emulsification performance with transparent appearance. Characterization of the SNEDDS showed nanodroplets of around 50-66.57 nm in size (confirmed by TEM analysis), in addition to the high drug loading capacity without causing any precipitation in the gastro-intestinal tract. In the present study, we took an interpretive narrative approach to explore the identity (re)constructions of 33 women who terminated a wanted pregnancy due to fetal health complications. Narrative thematic analysis revealed five distinct identities (a) the political mother, (b) the devastated mother, (c) the grieving but hopeful mother, (d), the self-sacrificing mother, and the (e) every mother. Implications for how these identity constructions can inform both theory and practice are discussed.There is limited data on serum biomarkers in distinguishing Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) from Streptococcus pneumoniae (SP) and viral pneumoniae (VP) etiologies of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). A retrospective study of inpatients diagnosed with CAP at the First Affiliated Hospital of Dali University (Dali, Yunnan, China) between January 2018 and June 2020 was conducted. The demographic, clinical and laboratory data of the patients with CAP were analyzed. Univariate analyses identified predictors for MP infections. The discriminative power of C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), CRP/PCT and CRP/PCT >350 μg/ng was assessed by area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. A total of 552 CAP patients, including 247 (44.7%) with MP, 152 (27.6%) with SP and 153 (27.7%) with influenza A and B viruses, were enrolled. When comparing MP with SP, cough and CRP/PCT >350 μg/ng (odds ratio [OR]) 2.88, p 350 μg/ng exhibited excellent performance (AUC = 0.90, 95%CI 0.83-0.95, p  less then  .001, 76% sensitivity and 100% specificity). CRP/PCT ratio may be a potential index to distinguish MP-CAP from non-MP-CAP.
