The incidence of bilateral CM was lower than that of unilateral variations based on the analysis of 831 pelvises. The mean caliber of the anastomosis was 2.8 mm among 1,608 hemipelvises. There is no consensus concerning the anthropometric influences in CM. Finally, we concluded that CM is not an unusual anatomical variation and that we must not underestimate the risk of encountering the anastomosis during surgery. Anatomical knowledge of CM is, therefore, essential in preventing accidents for surgeons who approach the inguinal and retropubic regions.This study assesses the effect of More Doctors Program (Programa Mais Médicos - PMM) on the equality in the distribution of primary care physicians (PCPs) in Brazil. Spatial data analysis, Lorenz curve and Gini coefficient were used to evaluate the geographic distribution of PCPs before and after the implementation of PMM (2012 and 2016). Data from 5,564 municipalities were used in the analyses. The results indicate that the distribution of PCPs has become more equal after PMM implementation. Between 2012 and 2016, overall Gini coefficient decreased by 11% from 0.255 to 0.227. An explanatory analytical study was implemented which included the use of mixed methodologies between 2013 and 2017. A triangulation analysis was carried out of the results of the quantitative and qualitative aspects. It was observed that the dominant agricultural productive model has determined the deterioration of the productive conditions and exposure to pesticides of the horticultural population of the GBCC. Deficient systems for regulating land use, weak legislation and control from the State in accordance with the context impact on everyday life and block the horticulturists' individual health protection practices.This study analyzed how news coverage about suicides is published in the Brazilian electronic media and evaluated if the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) were complied with in the online media. This quantitative, documentary and retrospective study investigated 89 published news items about suicide in 2017 in the Brazilian newspaper sites with the largest circulation. Descriptive statistics and tests of association were used for data analysis. The majority of news items contained neither content to be avoided nor aspects recommended by the WHO. The most frequent characteristics of the reported cases do not correspond directly to the epidemiological profile of suicidal behavior, but to media interests. Actions are needed to foster media involvement in suicide prevention, dissemination of resources and strategies to support and reduce stigma and the contagion effect.The scope of this article is to analyze the prevalence of polymedication and excessive polypharmacy, as well as associated factors, among the elderly attended at two Basic Health Units in Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted using information obtained from a structured interview of the patient. The individual associations of each explanatory variable with polypharmacy and with excessive polypharmacy were analyzed. For the variables that showed a significant association with polypharmacy, multivariate analysis was performed using the logistic regression model. The elderly used, on average, 5.2 drugs. The prevalence of polymedication was 57.7% and excessive polypharmacy was 4.8%. In univariate analysis the conditions associated with polypharmacy were age ≤ 70 years, schooling > 8 years, presence of more than three diseases and presenting symptoms of depression. For excessive polypharmacy, the presence of more than three diseases, self-perception of negative health, and partial dependence on instrumental activities of daily living were associated with the conditions. In the final multivariate model for polypharmacy, the age ≤ 70 years and presence of more than three disease variables remained.The scope of this article is to verify the existence of the association between the number of family health teams in primary care units and the individual costs per team. A total of 46 basic health units were included in the sample to verify association through multiple linear regression between the costs per team (dependent variable) and the number of teams per unit, controlled by the number of health care procedures (independent variables). The data used were derived from a study of assessment of costing by absorption. There was an important inverse association between the size of the unit and the costs per team, controlled by the number of health care procedures (adjusted R² =0.69; p less then 0.001 for CI=95%), although costs per team in similar sized units varied considerably. The results encountered tend to suggest the benefits of the allocation of a larger number of family health teams in the same unit, thereby reducing the costs per team.This study seeks to understand the social representations (SR) of suicide among high school adolescents of a public school in Curitiba, such as the media influences on the construction of these SR. The research was performed using the qualitative method and structured around the tenets of Social Representation Theory. A total of 18 adolescents of both genders participated in the study, and data collection was conducted through the formation of focus groups. The material transcribed was analyzed by the Descending Hierarchical Classification method with the aid of the IRaMuTeQ program. It was possible to establish that the SR of the adolescents surveyed are linked to the relevance of positive interpersonal relationships when faced with the impact that suicide information causes. This predominantly defines the emotional state of the person receiving information, and the primordial hosting, listening and assistance relationships that are important for the content and manner in which situations involving suicide are reported by the media.
