th the ECG-gated calcium scoring CT, compared with the extent-based method and the Weston score.
(1) To compare low-contrast detectability of a deep learning-based denoising algorithm (DLA) with ADMIRE and FBP, and (2) to compare image quality parameters of DLA with those of reconstruction methods from two different CT vendors (ADMIRE, IMR, and FBP).
Using abdominal CT images of 100 patients reconstructed via ADMIRE and FBP, we trained DLA by feeding FBP images as input and ADMIRE images as the ground truth. To measure the low-contrast detectability, the randomized repeat scans of Catphan® phantom were performed under various conditions of radiation exposures. Twelve radiologists evaluated the presence/absence of a target on a five-point confidence scale. The multi-reader multi-case area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was calculated, and non-inferiority tests were performed. Using American College of Radiology CT accreditation phantom, contrast-to-noise ratio, target transfer function, noise magnitude, and detectability index (d') of DLA, ADMIRE, IMR, and FBPs were computed.
images reconstructed using standard algorithms. • The proposed deep learning algorithm showed similar profiles of physical measurements to advanced iterative reconstruction algorithm (ADMIRE).Jumping spiders (Salticidae) are diurnal visual predators known for elaborate, vision-mediated behaviour achieved through the coordinated work of four pairs of camera-type eyes. One pair ('principal' eyes) is responsible for colour and high spatial acuity vision, while three pairs ('secondary' eyes) are mostly responsible for motion detection. Based on its unusual capacity to visually discriminate specific prey in very low, but also under bright light settings, we investigated the structure of the principal and one pair of secondary eyes (antero-lateral eyes) of Cyrba algerina to determine how these eyes achieve the sensitivity, while maintaining spatial acuity, needed to sustain behaviour in low light. Compared to salticids that live in bright light, the principal eyes of C. algerina have a short focal length, and wide contiguous twin rhabdomeres that support optical pooling, overall favouring sensitivity (0.39 μm2), but without fully compromising acuity (12.4 arc min). The antero-lateral eye retinae have large receptors surrounded by pigment granules, providing effective shielding from scattered light. These adaptations may be beneficial for a xeric salticid species with a 'blended' lifestyle generally living and hunting under stones in the dark, but sometimes venturing above them, in dramatically different light conditions.Dual-task costs might result from confusions on the task-set level as both tasks are not represented as distinct task-sets, but rather being integrated into a single task-set. This suggests that events in the two tasks are stored and retrieved together as an integrated memory episode. Cabotegravir concentration In a series of three experiments, we tested for such integrated task processing and whether it can be modulated by regularities between the stimuli of the two tasks (across-task contingencies) or by sequential regularities within one of the tasks (within-task contingencies). Building on the experimental approach of feature binding in action control, we tested whether the participants in a dual-tasking experiment will show partial-repetition costs they should be slower when only the stimulus in one of the two tasks is repeated from Trial n - 1 to Trial n than when the stimuli in both tasks repeat. In all three experiments, the participants processed a visual-manual and an auditory-vocal tone-discrimination task which were always presented concurrently. In Experiment 1, we show that retrieval of Trial n - 1 episodes is stable across practice if the stimulus material is drawn randomly. Across-task contingencies (Experiment 2) and sequential regularities within a task (Experiment 3) can compete with n - 1-based retrieval leading to a reduction of partial-repetition costs with practice. Overall the results suggest that participants do not separate the processing of the two tasks, yet, within-task contingencies might reduce integrated task processing. Many long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been found to play crucial roles in sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (AKI), including lncRNA nuclear-enriched abundant transcript 1 (NEAT1). We aimed to further elucidate the functions and molecular mechanism of NEAT1 in sepsis-induced AKI. Sepsis-induced AKI cell model was established by treatment with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in human tubule epithelial (HK2) cells. Cell viability and apoptosis were determined by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and flow cytometry, respectively. Western blot assay was performed to measure all protein levels. The concentrations of inflammatory factors were evaluated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expression levels of inflammatory factors, NEAT1, microRNA-93-5p (miR-93-5p), and thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) were measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The oxidative stress factors were detected using corresponding kits. The interaction between miR-93-5p and NEAT1 or TXNIP was predicted by bioinformatics analysis and verified by dual-luciferase reporter and RNA Immunoprecipitation (RIP) assays. NEAT1 was upregulated in serum of sepsis patients and LPS-induced HK2 cells. NEAT1 silence alleviated LPS-induced HK2 cell injury by inhibiting apoptosis, inflammation and oxidative stress. Moreover, miR-93-5p was a direct target of NEAT1, and suppression of NEAT1 weakened LPS-induced injury by upregulating miR-93-5p in HK2 cells. Furthermore, TXNIP was a downstream target of miR-93-5p, and miR-93-5p attenuated LPS-induced HK2 cell injury by downregulating TXNIP. In addition, NEAT1 regulated TXNIP expression by acting as a sponge of miR-93-5p. NEAT1 might aggravate LPS-induced injury in HK2 cells by regulating miR-93-5p/TXNIP axis, providing a potential therapeutic strategy for sepsis-associated AKI.
BRCA mutation carriers have an increased risk of developing breast or ovarian cancer. Risk-reducing bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (RRBSO) is associated with a decrease in risk for tubal and ovarian cancer. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) may increase breast, ovarian, and endometrial cancer risk in the general population. This review analyses the published data on HRT and risk of cancer in BRCA mutation carriers with and without RRBSO.
We included all relevant articles published in English from 1995 to October 2020. Sources were identified through a search on PubMed and Cochrane Library.
We included one case-control and one retrospective cohort study on ovarian and one case-control study on endometrial cancer risk and HRT in BRCA mutation carriers. Regarding breast cancer risk, one case-control study on BRCA mutation carriers with and without RRBSO and one case-control study, one Markov chain decision model, two prospective cohort studies, and one metaanalysis on carriers after RRBSO were included. For ovarian cancer, results were ambiguous.
