To evaluate 12-month outcomes following fluocinolone acetonide (FAc 0.2 μg/day) implant in pseudophakic patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) that persists or recurs despite previous treatment with anti-vascular endothelial growth factors (anti-VEGF) and dexamethasone implant (DEX) in a UAE population.

A retrospective, observational, single-center, 12-month audit study, where 22 pseudophakic eyes (22 patients) with DME were treated with the FAc intravitreal implant according to licensed UAE indications. Outcome measurements at baseline and at months 1, 3, 6, and 12 included best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central macular thickness (CMT), and intraocular pressure (IOP).

Post-FAc implantation, mean BCVA significantly improved at 1, 3, and 12 months (+10.4 ± 16.1, +22.8 ± 13.6, and +25.5 ± 13.0 letters, respectively;

Materials & methods The chemical, physical, morphological and photothermal properties of Ker-AuNPs are investigated using dynamic light scattering, ζ-potential, UV-Visible, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and high-resolution thermography. In vitro experiments are performed on a human glioblastoma cell line (i.e., U87-MG), using viability assays, transmission electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, cytometric analyses and PPT experiments. Results Experiments confirm the excellent biocompatibility of Ker-AuNPs, their efficient cellular uptake and localized photothermal heating capabilities. Atrial fibrillation was found to be the most understudied topic. From articles specific to postmenopausal women, five clusters were identified. The smallest cluster was about stress-induced cardiomyopathy. Conclusion Topic modeling can help identify understudied areas in medical research.
