Acyl activating enzyme 3 (AAE3) was identified as being involved in the acetylation pathway of oxalate degradation, which regulates the responses to biotic and abiotic stresses in various higher plants. Here, we investigated the role of Glycine sojaAAE3 (GsAAE3) in Cadmium (Cd) and Aluminum (Al) tolerances. The recombinant GsAAE3 protein showed high activity toward oxalate, with a Km of 105.10 ± 12.30 μM and Vmax of 12.64 ± 0.34 μmol min-1 mg-1 protein, suggesting that it functions as an oxalyl-CoA synthetase. The expression of a GsAAE3-green fluorescent protein (GFP) fusion protein in tobacco leaves did not reveal a specific subcellular localization pattern of GsAAE3. An analysis of the GsAAE3 expression pattern revealed an increase in GsAAE3 expression in response to Cd and Al stresses, and it is mainly expressed in root tips. Furthermore, oxalate accumulation induced by Cd and Al contributes to the inhibition of root growth in wild soybean. Importantly, GsAAE3 overexpression increases Cd and Al tolerances in A. thaliana and soybean hairy roots, which is associated with a decrease in oxalate accumulation. Taken together, our data provide evidence that the GsAAE3-encoded protein plays an important role in coping with Cd and Al stresses.
There have been several pathologic data that support an association between postural instability (PI) and autonomic dysfunction in Parkinson's disease (PD). The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation of PI and autonomic deficits in early PD.

We collected 17 patients with a diagnosis of early PD. PI was assessed by computerized dynamic posturography (CDP). Standardized autonomic function test (AFT) and time and frequency domain spectral analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) were performed. CDP data obtained from the 21 patients were compared to that from age- and sex-matched healthy controls. We collected HRV data from 18 other age- and sex-matched controls. All patients were evaluated in the "OFF" state. We used Mann-Whitney U-test to compare parameters of CDP between the early PD and control groups. Spearman correlation was used for correlation analysis between parameters of CDP and autonomic function test in PD patients.

Most patients (76.5%) showed mild or moderate autonomic dysfunction in the standardized AFT. In CDP, sensory ratios of equilibrium score (e.g., visual and vestibular) and composite scores were significantly lower in PD patients than in controls. In HRV, the low-frequency/high-frequency ratio during the tilt and the gap of low- frequency/high-frequency ratio from supine to tilt were significantly different in both groups. The parameters of time and frequency domains of HRV reflecting parasympathetic function were correlated with equilibrium scores for somatosensory organization test in CDP.

PI was associated with parasympathetic autonomic dysfunction in early PD. This result was in accordance with a previous assumption that PI in PD is related to parasympathetic cholinergic neuron loss in the brainstem.

The five species were collected at Mt. Rtanj and the village of Sesalac, Eastern Serbia. The main EO constituents of Lamiaceae plants were p-cymene (24.4%), geraniol (63.4%) and germacrene D (21.5%) in Satureja kitaibelii, Thymus serpyllum and Origanum vulgare ssp. this website vulgare, respectively. A. millefolium EO had multiple constituents with major ones being camphor (9.8%), caryophyllene oxide (6.5%), terpinen-4-ol (6.3%) and 1,8-cineole (5.6%), while the main EO constituents of A. clypeolata were 1,8-cineole (45.1%) and camphor (18.2%). Antimicrobial testing of the EO showed that Staphylococcus aureus (Gram-positive) was more sensitive to all of the tested EOs than Escherichia coli (Gram-negative). S. kitaibelii EO showed the highest antimicrobial activity against both tested bacterial strains. This is the first study to characterize the EO composition and antimicrobial activity of these five medicinal species from Eastern Serbia in comparison with comprehensive literature data. The results can be utilized by the perfumery, cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical industries, but also for healing purposes in self-medication.We measured the health resource agglomeration capacities of 31 Chinese provinces (or municipalities) in 2004-2018 based on the entropy weight method. Using a modified spatial gravity model, we constructed and analyzed the spatial correlation network of these health resource agglomeration capacities and their influencing factors through social network analysis. We found that (i) China's health resource agglomeration capacity had a gradual strengthening trend, with capacity weakening from east to west (strongest in the eastern region, second strongest in the central region, and weakest in the western region). (ii) The spatial network of such capacities became more densely connected, and the network density and level (efficiency) showed an upward (downward) trend. (iii) In terms of centrality, the high-ranking provinces (or municipalities) were Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shandong, Hunan, Hubei, Fujian, Anhui, Jiangxi, and Tianjin, while the low-ranking were Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia, Ite health resources, and transform ideas to support public health resource services were provided. The receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), a well-known player of diabetes mellitus (DM)-related morbidities, was supposed to be involved in coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19), but no data exist about COVID-19, DM, and the soluble RAGE (sRAGE) forms. We quantified total sRAGE and its forms, the endogenously secretory esRAGE and the membrane-cleaved cRAGE, in COVID-19 patients with and without DM and in healthy individuals to explore how COVID-19 may affect these molecules and their potential role as biomarkers. Circulating sRAGE and esRAGE were quantified by enzyme-linked-immunosorbent assays. cRAGE was obtained by subtracting esRAGE from total sRAGE. sRAGE, esRAGE, cRAGE, and the cRAGE/esRAGE ratio did not differ between DM and non-DM patients and had the same trend when compared to healthy individuals. Levels of total sRAGE, cRAGE, and cRAGE/esRAGE ratio were upregulated, while esRAGE was downregulated. The lack of difference between DM and non-DM COVID-19 patients in the levels of sRAGE and its forms supports the hypothesis that in COVID-19 the RAGE system is modulated regardless of glycemic control.
