Interestingly, PhiDP23.1 was only found in UC patients before and after QYSX treatment. This study showed the behavioral and biochemical effects of D-(-)-quinic acid on rats with particular emphasis on the hippocampus and frontal cortex which are associated with memory. Materials and methods Chronic administration of aluminum chloride at a dose of 175 mg/kg, p.o. for a period of 25 days markedly increased the level of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity and reduced the levels of antioxidant enzymes in the brain. Two doses of D-(-)-quinic acid (200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg) were selected based on previous safety/toxicity studies and administered orally from the 26th day to the 36th day of the trial. These results indicate that D-(-)-quinic acid can reverse memory loss caused by aluminum intoxication by attenuating AChE activity and rescuing the deleterious effect of AlCl3.Objective This study aimed to investigate the effect of Xuefu Zhuyu decoction on preventing contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods A total of 256 patients undergoing selective PCI for coronary artery disease were consecutively enrolled and randomly divided into two groups Group A (n = 126) and Group B (n = 130). Before and after PCI, all patients routinely received antiplatelet aggregation therapy, antilipidemic therapy, and hydration therapy. Besides routine therapy, patients in Group B received Xuefu Zhuyu decoction from 3 days before PCI to 3 days after PCI. Serum creatinine (Scr), estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured, respectively, at baseline (72 h before PCI) and at 24, 48, and 72 h after PCI. Results Compared with Group A, Group B presented a lower fluctuation of SCr and eGFR (P less then 0.01). The incidence of CIN was less in Group B. According to the definition, CIN occurred in 5 patients (2.0%) in the intervention group and 5 (4.0%) in the control group (P=0.167). In terms of oxidative stress, Group B had a lower MDA (P less then 0.05), but a higher SOD (P less then 0.05). Conclusions Compared with the control group, Xuefu Zhuyu decoction intervention therapy increased the level of SOD and reduced MDA. The Xuefu Zhuyu decoction intervention group presented a higher level of eGFR at 24, 48, and 72 h after PCI in patients with coronary heart disease and a lower level of Scr. The results are propitious to prove that Xuefu Zhuyu decoction might play an antioxidative stress role in the prevention of CIN after PCI.Wuwei Qingzuo San (WWQZS), as a renowned traditional Mongolian patent medicine approved by Chinese State Food and Drug Administration, is used to treat hyperlipidemia, indigestion, and other ailments related to disorder of production of essence and phlegm, a typical abnormal metabolism of blood in traditional Mongolian medicine. A combination of network pharmacology and validation experiments in hyperlipidemia hamster is used to understand the potential mechanism of WWQZS for hypolipidemic effects, further for an integrated concept of traditional theory, bioactive constituents, and molecular mechanism for TMM. Through network pharmacology, we obtained 212 components, 219 predicted targets, and 349 known hyperlipidemia-related targets form public database and used Metascape to carry out enrichment analysis of 43 potential and 45 candidate targets to imply numerous BP concerned with metabolism of lipid, regulation of kinases and MF related to lipid binding, phosphatase binding, and receptor ligand activity that are involved in anti-hyperlipidemia. In addition, KEGG pathways that explicated hypolipidemic effect were involved in pathways including metabolism associated with kinase function according to MAPK signaling pathway, AMPK signaling pathway, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Meanwhile, in HFD-induced hamster model, WWQZS could significantly reduce TC and ALT and help decrease TG, LDL-C as well; liver pathological section implied that WWQZS could relieve liver damage and lipid accumulation. Western blot indicated that WWQZS may upregulate CYP7A1 and activate AMPK to suppress the expression of HMGCR in livers. In conclusion, our results suggest that WWQSZS plays important dual hypolipidemic and liver-protective role in livers in HFD-induced hamster model. Through this research, a new reference is also provided to other researches in the study of ethnopharmacology.Objective To determine the short-term effects of infant massage on the development of Down syndrome babies. Materials and methods The study compared two groups (intervention and control), each with 16 babies with Down syndrome between 4 and 8 months old. The variables developmental age and developmental quotient were measured at two distinct time points, at pretest and after 5 weeks, using the Brunet-Lézine Early Childhood Psychomotor Development revised scale. This scale measures the variables of age and development quotient in a partial way (motor, visual-motor coordination, language, and social development) and in a global way. The experimental group received infant massage, applied by the parents, during these 5 weeks, every day for at least 10 minutes.
