Pain has short- and long-term negative consequences for children physically and psychologically. Children with cancer spend more time at home with their families and less time in hospital. While this has benefits for quality of life, it shifts responsibility for pain management from healthcare professionals to parents. Little is known about parents' pain management abilities in this setting. This study aimed to understand how parents of children with cancer manage their child's pain at home. A convergent, parallel, mixed methods design including pain diaries, surveys and interviews was used. Participants were parents of children with cancer on active treatment recruited from one tertiary cancer centre. Each data collection method was analysed separately and then integrated. Parents frequently under-medicate their child's pain at home. Practical barriers including the analgesic context and children finding medications unpalatable led parents to prefer non-pharmacological interventions. Attitudinal and practical barriers result in parents having an "empty toolbox" of pharmacological interventions. Consequently non-pharmacological interventions are essential to parents managing their child's cancer pain at home.Machine Learning (ML) can improve the analysis of complex and interrelated factors that place adherent people at risk of viral rebound. Our aim was to build ML model to predict RNA viral rebound from medication adherence and clinical data. Patients were followed up at the Swiss interprofessional medication adherence program (IMAP). Sociodemographic and clinical variables were retrieved from the Swiss HIV Cohort Study (SHCS). Daily electronic medication adherence between 2008-2016 were analyzed retrospectively. Predictor variables included RNA viral load (VL), CD4 count, duration of ART, and adherence. Random Forest, was used with 10 fold cross validation to predict the RNA class for each data observation. Classification accuracy metrics were calculated for each of the 10-fold cross validation holdout datasets. The values for each range from 0 to 1 (better accuracy). 383 HIV+ patients, 56% male, 52% white, median (Q1, Q3) age 43 (36, 50), duration of electronic monitoring of adherence 564 (200, 1333) days, CD4 count 406 (209, 533) cells/mm3, time since HIV diagnosis was 8.4 (4, 13.5) years, were included. Average model classification accuracy metrics (AUC and F1) for RNA VL were 0.6465 and 0.7772, respectively. In conclusion, combining adherence with other clinical predictors improve predictions of RNA.BACKGROUND nociceptive pain from joint damage caused by autoimmune inflammatory disease is expected in rheumatoid arthritis. However, neuropathic pain also occurs and persists even with the disease under control. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with neuropathic pain in rheumatoid arthritis by considering sociodemographic and behavioral data as well as lifestyle and clinical aspects in a self-referenced afro-descendant ethnicity sample. METHODS In a cross-sectional study, the Douleur Neuropathique 4, Health Assessment Questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and sociodemographic characteristics were used. Additionally, a Bivariate analysis was performed, followed by hierarchical multiple logistic regression, with results expressed as odds ratio and 95% confidence intervals. RESULTS the frequency of NP was at a proximal level consisting of clinical characteristics related to anxiety (p=0.03) and depression (p=0.04). When a hierarchical multiple logistic regression analysis was conducted, an independent association was identified between neuropathic pain and black race. At the third and fourth stages, when the clinical variables were adjusted by race, an association was found with moderate functionality (p=0.04) and anxiety (p=0.04). CONCLUSION neuropathic pain in rheumatoid arthritis is related to the Afro-descendant ethnicity that affects functionality and anxiety levels.Lack of social support and perceived HIV-related stigma increase the risk of negative health-related outcomes among people living with HIV (PLWH). This study examines the social media use of PLWH participating in a behavioral health treatment program, and the association of participation in a "secret" Facebook group with improved client social support, education, and overall behavioral health treatment experience. Eighteen individuals participated in a survey and eight individuals participated in a focus group regarding their familiarity with technology and experience with using social media. TED-347 mouse Mixed-method analysis revealed that the majority of "secret" Facebook group participants thought that participation in the group improved overall personal wellbeing and perceived social support. However, lack of technology and social media experience and privacy concerns may have contributed to lower levels of participation with the "secret" Facebook group. A majority of participants who found Facebook difficult to use and/or had less technology experience were over the age of 50. Incorporating additional technology training for individuals who lack technology experience has the potential to improve clients' overall proficiency with technology and social media, as well as build confidence that could translate into an increased willingness to participate in a social media-based intervention.Physical activity is an evidence-based, effective treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D), yet insufficient numbers of adults achieve recommended daily levels, particularly amongst higher weight classes. This cross-sectional study assessed whether the Information-Motivation-Behavioural Skills (IMB) Model explained physical activity levels in adults with T2D across different body mass index (BMI) levels (N = 381). Measures included the American Adults Knowledge of Exercise Recommendations (AAKER), Behavioural Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire (BREQ-2), Barriers Specific Self-Efficacy Scale (BARSE) and the outcome measure, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-short form). Analyses included structural equation modelling (SEM) and ordinal logistic regression models. SEM demonstrated a good fit of the IMB Model to the data, accounting for 44% of variance in physical activity levels. Both motivation and self-efficacy had a direct effect, and motivation indirectly predicted physical activity through self-efficacy.
