4 times enhancement in productivity was preserved after optimization by LFG compared to CF. The process efficiency improvement is more pronounced when the isotherm is highly favorable and the loading volume is large.
This study presents a 10-year longitudinal assessment of bone status in adolescents and young adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Thirty-two patients (12 female, aged 20.5 ± 3.93 years, T1D duration 13.9 ± 1.97 years) were studied using quantitative ultrasound (QUS) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). Standard deviation scores (SDS) for these results were calculated. The following clinical parameters were analysed sex, age, T1D duration, anthropometric parameters, daily insulin requirement (DIR), mean glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) in the year preceding the examination, medication other than insulin, history of bone fractures, and comorbidities.
The current and past (measured 10 years earlier) QUS results did not differ and showed a significant correlation (r = 0.55, p = 0.001). We found no relation of QUS results and anthropometric parameters or gender. DXA parameters did not correlate with the present QUS measurement. DXA and QUS results were independent of HbA1c, co-morbidities, or intake of additional medicaments.
Bone status parameters of the examined patients with currently suboptimal glycaemic control were found to be lowered in comparison to a normative reference population, both at baseline and follow-up, although no further deterioration was observed during the 10-year follow-up period.

Ischaemic stroke (IS) is a disease that is a common cause of death and one of the most common causes of disability in adults. There is a continuous need to conduct stroke pathogenesis studies. A certain role here can be attributed to adipose-derived hormones. The aim of this paper is to assess the blood concentration for selected adipocytokines omentin-1, irisin, protein-1 related with C1q/TNF (CTRP1), vaspin and nesfatin-1 in IS patients, and an attempt to define their role as risk factors for ischaemic stroke.
The study included 46 patients with ischaemic stroke (27 females, 19 males, average 67.6 years of age). The control group consisted of 32 patients (16 females, 16 males, average 64.1 years of age) who had never had cerebrovascular diseases.
The concentration of omentin-1 and CTRP1 in the group of stroke patients was higher than in the control group, whereas the concentrations of nesfatin-1 and irisin was significantly lower than in the control group. The vaspin level was similar in both groups of patients. Statistical analysis using logistic regression allows us to find that CTRP1 can be a significant stroke risk factor. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between the concentration of CTRP1 and NIHSS. However, no correlation between the concentration of other adipocytokines under investigation and the severity of ischaemic stroke was found.
From among the adipocytokines under investigation, higher concentrations of omentin-1 and CTRP1 and lower blood concentrations of nesfatin-1, irisin significantly increase the odds of getting to the group of ischaemic patients. It seems that CTRP1 can be an independent predictive factor of IS.

To describe a case of Behçet disease (BD) uveitis manifesting with sequential bilateral neuroretinitis associated with prepapillary inflammatory vitreous exudate (PIVE).
A single case report documented with multimodal imaging.
A 37-year-old man developed neuroretinitis with associated PIVE in the left eye. He was diagnosed with ocular toxoplasmosis and treated accordingly based on positive serologic testing and negative work-up for other entities, including BD. The disease course was favorable, but 1 year later a similar neuroretinitis developed in the right eye. Extraocular features of BD became evident only at the time of the second eye involvement, and the patient received corticosteroid and immunosuppressive therapy. this website Swept source (SS) OCT showed at the acute phase in both eyes a typical "mushroom-shaped" prepapillary hyperreflectivity of the PIVE. SS OCT angiography (OCTA) demonstrated a corresponding prepapillary hypointense area due to shadowing effect, decreasing in size while scanning deeper layers. It also detected peripapillary retinal hypervascularity in both eyes and a sectoral area of flow signal loss in the first involved left eye. Visual acuity improved following the resolution of the PIVE and associated acute inflammatory changes in both eyes. The left eye showed residual optic disc pallor and retinal nerve fiber layer defects.
Sequential bilateral neuroretinitis associated with PIVE may occur before other clinical features of BD become evident. SS OCT and OCTA can provide useful information for the diagnosis and management of this rare, but typical, ocular manifestation of BD uveitis.

Thyrotropin-secreting pituitary adenomas (TSPA) are extremely rare pituitary adenomas; their perioperative thyroid hormone dynamics have not been completely elucidated. Here, we investigated the clinical characteristics, perioperative findings, and thyroid hormone dynamics of TSPA at a single institution.
We enrolled 11 patients who underwent transsphenoidal surgery (TSS) for TSPA during 2005-2019 at Hiroshima University Hospital (TSPA group) and 24 patients who underwent TSS for nonfunctioning pituitary adenomas (NFPA) in 2019 (NFPA group; for comparison). Their clinical characteristics, operative findings, and thyroid hormone dynamics, including serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT3), and free thyroxine (FT4), were retrospectively analyzed.
The NFPA group demonstrated a slight temporary decrease in serum TSH/ FT3/ FT4 levels on day 1 postoperatively and improvement in the levels on day 4 postoperatively. In contrast, the serum TSH level in the TSPA group demonstrated a marked decrease on day 1 postoperatively but improved on day 7 postoperatively.
