Here, a simplified emergent self-organizing map uses the projected points of such a scatter plot in combination with the dataset in order to compute the generalized U-matrix. The generalized U-matrix defines the visualization of a topographic map depicting the misrepresentations of projected points with regards to a given dimensionality reduction method and the dataset.•The topographic map provides accurate information about the high-dimensional distance and density based structures of high-dimensional data if an appropriate dimensionality reduction method is selected.•The topographic map can uncover the absence of distance-based structures.•The topographic map reveals the number of clusters in a dataset as the number of valleys.Transformer is the most important equipment used in power system. It's ensure network stability and reliability. Transformer fails over time due to several factors such as overload, poor insulation, cellulose deterioration, poor dielectric strength of the oil etc. However, transformer owners are finding it difficult to monitor the performance of distribution transformers (DT) in their place of application which results to system failure. Analyses of this distribution transformer performance required that distribution transformer be put on-load and the secondary terminals link to Power Quality and Energy Analyzer equipment (Fluke 435 Series II). This paper presents a methodology of carrying out experimental set up of on-load reliability measurements of the two distribution transformers, 500 kVA and 300 kVA, 11/0.415 kV as case study. Recommendations for the operations and maintenance engineers in charge to comply are discussed. Unfortunately, the protocol of this zebrafish embryo assay varies between labs, resulting in discordant data for identical compounds. The assay also has some limitations, such as low biotransformation capacity and fewer morphological endpoints in comparison with the in vivo mammalian developmental toxicity studies. Consequently, there is a need to standardize and further optimize the assay for developmental toxicity testing. We developed a Zebrafish Embryo Developmental Toxicity Assay (ZEDTA) that can be extended with a metabolic activation system and/or skeletal staining to increase its sensitivity. As such, the ZEDTA can be used as a modular system depending on the compound of interest.•Our protocol is customized with a metabolic activation system for test compounds, using human liver microsomes. This system ensures exposure of zebrafish embryos to metabolites that are relevant for human risk and safety assessment. As human liver microsomes are toxic for the zebrafish embryo, we developed a preincubation system with an ultracentrifugation and subsequent dilution step.•Additionally, we developed a skeletal staining protocol that can be added to the ZEDTA modular system. Our live Alizarin Red staining method detects several bone structures in 5-day old zebrafish larvae in a consistent manner.Whereas childhood trauma is associated with reduced nonsocial cognition in schizophrenia, research on the relationship between childhood trauma and social cognition is limited and mixed. The aim of this study was to examine the association between childhood trauma and theory of mind (ToM) in persons with schizophrenia (n = 68) compared to healthy control participants (n = 70). Childhood trauma was assessed with the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), providing information on physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, physical neglect and emotional neglect. ToM was indexed by the Movie for the Assessment of Social Cognition (MASC), which yields scores for total, cognitive and affective ToM, and for three error types (overmentalizing, undermentalizing, no mentalizing). Persons with schizophrenia had elevated rates of childhood trauma and lower ToM scores than healthy controls. In the schizophrenia group, associations between sexual abuse and affective ToM was statistically significant. In regression analyses, physical neglect was found to be the strongest predictor of affective ToM. In healthy controls, childhood trauma was not associated with ToM. Follow-up analyses comparing individuals with/without clinically significant childhood trauma, confirmed the findings for the schizophrenia group. No causal inferences can be made in this cross-sectional study, but the results suggest an illness-specific association between both sexual abuse and physical neglect in childhood, and adult affective ToM in individuals with schizophrenia.Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon is a process where the presence of vascular irregularity within a Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma or tufted angioma leads to constitutive coagulation factor activation and the development of chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). She was ultimately found to have a massive uterine fibroid that led to constitutive coagulation cascade activation and subsequent chronic DIC. Although rare, the development of unexplained chronic DIC in a woman should prompt evaluation for the presence of massive uterine fibroids.
