This article reviews the signaling pathways entailed in the pathogenesis of BPD associated with PH and the possible management.Hyaluronic acid (HA) promotes wound healing, and, accordingly, formulations based on HA have been widely used in regenerative medicine. In addition, naturally derived compounds, e.g., plant-based extracts and vitamin E, have exhibited antioxidant activity. In this study, a formulation containing hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, raspberry extract, and green tea was developed for potential topical applications, targeting wound healing. Rheological analysis was performed along with antioxidant and biological studies. The rheological characterization showed that the HA-based formulation is a thixotropic platform and possesses higher mechanical properties than the control formulation. To evaluate the wound healing potential of the formulation, an in vitro "wound healing" assay was carried out using human derived fibroblasts (HDF) with a cell-free gap on the tissue culture dish. The formulation showed better wound healing ability than the control formulation.Analogously to the natural selective forces in ecosystems, therapies impose selective pressure on cancer cells within tumors. Some tumor cells can adapt to this stress and are able to form resistant subpopulations, parallel with enrichment of cancer stem cell properties in the residual tumor masses. However, these therapy-resistant cells are unlikely to be sufficient for the fast tumor repopulation and regrowth by themselves. The dynamic and coordinated plasticity of residual tumor cells is essential both for the conversion of their regulatory network and for the stromal microenvironment to produce cancer supporting signals. In this nursing tissue "niche", cancer-associated fibroblasts are known to play crucial roles in developing therapy resistance and survival of residual stem-like cells. As paracrine messengers, extracellular vesicles carrying a wide range of signaling molecules with oncogenic potential, can support the escape of some tumor cells from their deadly fate. Here, we briefly overview how extracellular vesicle signaling between fibroblasts and cancer cells including cancer progenitor/stem cells may contribute to the progression, therapy resistance and recurrence of malignant tumors.The present study investigated the protective effects of Sargassum horneri (S. horneri) ethanol extract (SHE) against atopic dermatitis (AD), known as an abnormal immune response in house dust mite (HDM)/2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB)-stimulated NC/Nga mice. The oral administration of SHE attenuated the AD symptoms, including the skin dermatitis severity, transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and ear edema in HDM/DNCB-stimulated mice. Moreover, the histological analysis revealed that SHE improved epidermal hyperplasia and hyperkeratosis, and reduced the dermal infiltrations of mast cells and eosinophils. Moreover, SHE downregulated the expression levels of cytokines (interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10, and interferon (IFN)-γ) and chemokines (Regulated on Activation, Normal T Cell Expressed and Secreted (RANTES), Eotaxin, and Thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC)) by decreasing the expression levels of atopic initiators (IL-25 and IL-33) in HDM/DNCB-stimulated skin. The oral administration of SHE decreased the spleen size, reducing expression levels of AD-related cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-10, IL-13, IFN-γ, and TARC) by regulating the expressions of Tbx21 (T-bet), GATA Binding Protein 3 (GATA-3), and Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). Moreover, SHE significantly attenuated the serum immunoglobulin (Ig)G1 and IgG2a levels in HDM/DNCB-stimulated mice. Collectively, these results suggest that S. horneri could be an ingredient of functional food against abnormal immune response.Canine cases of relapsing fever (RF) borreliosis have been described in Israel and the USA, where two RF species, Borrelia turicatae and Borrelia hermsii, can cause similar clinical signs to the Borrelia persica in dogs and cats reported from Israel, including fever, lethargy, anorexia, thrombocytopenia, and spirochetemia. In this report, we describe the first clinical cases of two dogs and a cat from Spain (Cordoba, Valencia, and Seville) caused by the RF species Borrelia hispanica. Spirochetes were present in the blood smears of all three animals, and clinical signs included lethargy, pale mucosa, anorexia, cachexia, or mild abdominal respiration. Laboratory findings, like thrombocytopenia in both dogs, may have been caused by co-infecting pathogens (i.e., Babesia vogeli, confirmed in one dog). Anemia was noticed in one of the dogs and in the cat. Borrelia hispanica was confirmed as an infecting agent by molecular analysis of the 16S rRNA locus. Molecular analysis of housekeeping genes and phylogenetic analyses, as well as successful in vitro culture of the feline isolate confirmed the causative agent as B. hispanica.
